Glass jars, real tea set, real outdoor areas, pebbles and natural items that aren’t concreted perfectly down because this all teaches children to respect, to engage and interact with the world and items around them with respect and care.

24.01.2022 R O A D SAFTEY W E E K Children brought their bikes or scooters from home this week to participate in road safety educational play sessions set up by our educators using their learnt knowledge and resources from @kidsandtraffic Miss Cass brought her own children’s toy car in for more play exploration of seatbelt wearing. 22.01.2022 Water colour painting fun! Miss Tracey engaged some children in water colour painting today. Children eagerly set about with the water and paint, noting no paint colour transferring to their paper. We hypothesised why this may be before educators demonstrated to the children how the paintbrush can be twirled in the paint pad longer, watching the paint come up the bristles. 18.01.2022 Good morning Little Wonders ELC families, To reduce the spread of infection and uphold our strict hygiene and infection control practices, we kindly ask that if your child has any of the following symptoms to please stay at home until all symptoms have cleared and seek Doctor if symptoms persist. Runny nose - Cough - Fever - Sore throat - Body aches - Vomiting - Diarrhoea. Please also note that if your child has had panadol or nurofen, we do have a 24 hour exclusion period. ...Please see our parent handbook and centre policies for further information. If you or your child have any signs or symptoms of COVID-19, please get tested and inform centre directly. We do currently have staff off unwell today (Monday) and possibly for rest of this week. We are kindly asking families to reduce hours at centre where possible ( 9am - 2pm or 10am - 3pm) to assist with staffing arrangements as we will be operating with less staff than usual. We thank you for your cooperation during this time and assisting us to maintain a hygienic and healthy environment for all. 16.01.2022 LEARNING AREA UPDATE As we have been implementing more #munchandmoveaustralia practices throughout the month, educators collaborated this afternoon to create a home kitchen area incorporating real aspects that children may have & use in their homes. This included the incorporation of REAL glassware, utensils and food. You should have just seen and heard how EXCITED THE CHILDREN ARE!!... Providing REAL utensils for children for their play spaces (as well as meal times), further encourages their developing understanding of respect of their environment including the food. The more use of REAL objects, the more knowledge children obtain of safe handling practices and their confidence soars! Our Little Wonders explored various aspects of oceans this week including the basics of naming animals living in the ocean, to more challenging ideas of sand erosion and habitat damage from pollution. It’s important for children to be aware of and know what to do in basic emergencies to build their confidence and life skills. Today our team powered through the day and spent the majority of time outside We have rearranged the furniture outside and included more open ended and science based resources for play and exploration. We have also been lucky enough to get a bargain EOFY purchase on outdoor furniture to kick off our outdoor kitchen area again. Storage areas reorganised for a stocktake of more resources wanted & general organisation of centre resources (who loves cleaning thei...r garage at home...? This is us with our shed) listened to so much music today! 01.01.2022 TEA TIME! It was so lovely to sit together for some fruit tea today with the children. We shared our thoughts on the smell and tastes of the tea. Some children noting how the cups & saucers & teapot are fragile and can break easily, therefore to hold gently and be careful. Others noted the weight of the teapot in their hands and after only a few turns were able to confidently pour from the tea pot. We’re going to trial other tea flavours as well as cold infusion teas ...as this experience shows great potential to be embedded within our centre practices soon enough! . . #littlewonderselc #littlewondersearlylearningcentre #wedoreal #real #realisbetter #illawarra #exceedingexpectations
