25.01.2022 After being immersed in building our new website last week, too much screen time and late nights all week, I needed some much needed GREEN time and FAMILY time. . So, we went for a loooong Sunday walk around the neighbourhood. And even discovered a few new things to the delight of the kids.

25.01.2022 Sunday musings... New week. New start.

25.01.2022 What a difference a day makes. #lockdownhair #doubledonutday

25.01.2022 Can I have your heart, Mummy?

24.01.2022 The ultimate gift idea for YOUR *little woodworker* this Christmas. Lasting childhood memories guaranteed! Check out our unique 1-Year Wodwork Apprentice EXPERIENCE. Link in comments.

23.01.2022 Little Woodworkers NEW website launch. (FINALLY!) Happy Friday! This year has been like no other. It's been a bit of a rollercoaster to say the least. Which is also why you haven't heard from us too often.... We were busy behind the scenes coming up with ways to turn this situation around and keep our business and the woodwork activity going. So, we brainstormed and Jim kicked into gear in the workshop. Meanwhile I started to incorporate our ideas into a completely revamped website. The result is a refreshed website featuring a brand new WOOD SHOP (link in comments) with a new range of products and woodwork experiences to purchase online. (We were constantly being asked over the years, by PARENTS and TEACHERS, if we sold any wooden kits online. Now we are delighted to finally be able to say YES. Australia-wide!) And TODAY we launch that new website. So, make sure to check it out (link in comments). For now there's only a limited number available to purchase, so, first come first served. There is still some tweaking to be done but we couldn't wait any longer and wanted to share it with you before the weekend. And if you find a typo or a broken link, PLEASE let me know. (I can't see the wood for the trees anymore. ) We can't wait to hear your feedback and catch up very soon once we are allowed to continue with our Little Woodworkers incursions. In the meantime, make sure to save your date for 2021 (link in comments). Thank you for your continued support, loyalty and concern during this challenging time. We appreciate every email we received since the start of this pandemic. We are hoping, for the sake of all of us, that this madness is over soon. And we are so excited to share this new online adventure with you. Stay safe and have a lovely weekend. All the best. Kerstin and Jim Your Little Woodworkers Team P.S.: Feel free to share and spread the word in Australia.

23.01.2022 Happy Mothers Day!

21.01.2022 NEWSFLASH for #PrimarySchoolTeachers We cannot wait to get back to some sort of normality and hope we can visit kindergartens and schools again soon. According to the Department of Education, we are still not permitted to visit as of yet.... But there's always a silver lining! Because of all that's happened this year and the constant changes and limitations since March, we received more and more enquiries from Primary School teachers, asking if they can purchase our (incursion) #woodentoys as sets for their students to make. We had to think of a way to make that happen. So, the good news (while it's not on our website just yet), you can now purchase our incursion wooden toys as a set of 25 toy kits in a box. If you need more (30 max), we can make that happen too at the usual $18 per extra wooden toy. For now it's only going to be the BIRD FEEDERS and AEROPLANES. (They've always been the most popular toy choices.) These will come with a video tutorial with Jim, the toy maker/incursion facilitator, demonstrating the toy assembly, step by step, for the children to watch and follow along. (Please note, child hammers, screwdrivers and safety glasses are not included but are easily available to purchase at Bunnings.) Our launch price for this will be $375 for 25 wooden toy kits and video demo (plus 10% GST and shipping). Shipping will be around $20 per box. We are still in talks with Aus Post to get the best price possible. Let me know if this is an option for you, instead of waiting for us to be allowed in-person incursions again. If you’ve any questions, don't hesitate to email me, Kerstin, at [email protected]. OR, if you'd like to make an order, send me a quick email too and I'll send you a tax invoice accordingly. Once payment is received we'll send out your order. We'd LOVE to hear from you either way. PS: If you’re a teacher or know one (anywhere in Australia), make sure to share this.

21.01.2022 Discovered this today. It kept the kids busy all morning. (Primary School ages.) It works!

21.01.2022 Love this. What a great idea. Had to share if anyone would like their kids to try it out. Or any school who sees this to add to their PE curriculum. Will definately get our kids onto it too. Thanks for sharing Fiona John and good to (virtually) see you again.

21.01.2022 For anyone who needs a good laugh.

21.01.2022 Talk about perfect timing... When you anxiously watch the news about how the Victorian Government will help businesses survive during this harsh Stage 4 lockdown (and you literally just think of your amazing bookkeeper who helped us through the first lighter lockdown), theres a knock on the door... A hamper arrives from our Bookkeeper, encouraging us to stay strong. ... I know she has our back. Thanks, M. We appreciate you. And thank you Funky Hamper's for this beautiful piece of art.

21.01.2022 And just like that we're allowed IN-PERSON incursions again. (The full 3-min video is on our website. Link in bio.) As soon as the email from the Department of Education was sent, Teachers emailed us. I didn't even have time to read it myself. But YESSS, we're allowed back to visit Kindergartens, Preschools and Primary Schools with our IN-PERSON Incursion Program.... And we’re fully booked for the rest of the year. (Since we had to keep moving dates forward week after week after week since March.) But if you still want your group to have their Woodwork Experience THIS side of the year, there is always the option to purchase our *Contactless (Virtual) Incursion Packs*. If you're within our 50 km radius, and depending on the size of your order, we can even deliver it directly to your doorstep within DAYS (conditions apply). Otherwise, we’ll ship it to you. Going forward, we are making these SETS of 25 a permanent feature of Little Woodworkers. We’ve been inundated with orders but that’s okay. In fact, it’s EXCITING. Because the feedback from teachers has been so amazing. It's the PERFECT ALTERNATIVE to our IN-PERSON incursions (especially when your kinder/school is on a budget!). These Boxes/Sets of 25 come with a step-by-step VIDEO assembly demonstration with Jim for the children to follow along. Plus some step-by-step guidance for teachers to give them a headstart so they can get organised beforehand... Including tool references from Bunnings with each order for their convenience. (They're the same tools Jim uses in the Video.) I've parked the LINK IN THE COMMENTS, if you'd like to find out more.

20.01.2022 Lest we forget. #AnzacDay2020

16.01.2022 Summer holidays.

15.01.2022 Our revamped website is now LIVE (as of last Friday). Incorporating a brand-new WOOD SHOP for teachers AND parents to pick and choose... From project/toy kits (requested by parents) to woodwork activities (requested by teachers) to a unique *Woodwork Apprentice EXPERIENCE*! ... AND were shipping Australia-wide! Limited numbers available in this first round. With orders already coming in, make sure to check it out quickly. ( LINK IN COMMENTS) P.S. Feel free to share this post. Help us spread the word and keep the woodwork activity going for the kids in these crazy time!

14.01.2022 *** COMING SOON *** We made the most of the kids first day back at school this week. Went to IKEA and bought a clock. Time is ticking. Our website is being revamped (aka built from scratch) as I'm writing this (by Easy Peasy DIY Websites for Newbies). ... As I'm sure it's been the same for you, these last few weeks have been a roller coaster of emotions. From panic and worry to acceptance, re-evaluating and taking action. We have used this time to put our thinking hats on for new ideas... but I'll get to that in a second... First of all, Little Woodworkers is back and open for business as of 1st June. It was great to see new bookings come in since school started again last week. We would like to assure you that we are always following the guidlines of the Victorian Chief Health Officer and the Department of Education. About the thinking hats... During previous incursions, we have frequently been asked, if we sell our boxes of wooden shapes, dowels and/or hammers that we provide for the unstructured play at the end of each incursion. Usually this would only be available as part of our incursions. However, we are excited to now be in a position to make this option available as an additional service. We sent an email to over a thousand teachers last week to ask them and were delighted to see that the interest is definately there. So, we are now in the process of getting it all organised for you, including a brand-new website to make the ordering process a breeze. We are hoping to have it all up and running in the next few weeks. If this is something you might be interested in for your own home, family day care, kindergarten, pre-school or primary school, send me a private message or drop me an email to [email protected]. (That way you'll be the FIRST to know when we're ready to go and the website is launched.) We'd love to hear from you with a view to offering our products as soon as possible Australia-wide. This option will be an ADDITIONAL way to provide wooden play/activities to your children and keep them working with wood. Our Little Woodworkers incursions are still available to book as before. Thank you for your continuous support and loyalty during these trying times.

13.01.2022 Virtual Excursions to Moonlit Sanctuary Wildlife Conservation Park. We love this idea! Thanks for sharing Mornington Peninsula Kids.

13.01.2022 When you find a picture of yourself on Facebook. Im still smiling about that hamper we received on Sunday(!) from our amazing Bookkeeper. . (We may have opened three of those delicious snack bags today. ) . @Funky-Hampers (Facebook handle)

12.01.2022 Great activity idea. Thanks for sharing Mornington Peninsula Kids.

12.01.2022 What a great start of the year... until last Friday, when we were hit with the 5-day Snap Lockdown news. But we are staying positive. We had worse. And we did it. So, we can do it again. Plus it's only for 5 days. We'll be back to (Covid) normal in no time. (Fingers and toes crossed! ) ... In the meantime, we just wanted to let you know, we are still here. And we are keeping the woodwork activity going with our *Contactless (VIRTUAL) Incursion Packs* (available Australia-wide). You can find all the info on our website ( see DIRECT LINK IN THE COMMENTS to save you some time). Also, we now have a specific ORDER FORM to make the order process as easy as possible for teachers. (I sent an email to teachers yesterday and 20 mins in the first order arrived. So, the order form WORKS! ) It helps us keep track of all incoming orders as we're working on a first come, first served basis. It also gives us all the info we need to process each order. (We need 2 to 4 weeks lead time, depending on current demand as there is only a limited supply for each term.) Since launching this virtual option last year, we were inundated with orders and received hugely positive feedback from teachers. We have since made this virtual option a permanent feature as part of our Little Woodworkers services. Click the link in the comments for all the info you need.

11.01.2022 Today I moved our new website to its new home to get it ready for some more final testing next week. After that it was time for some fresh air and (secret) Fathers Day planning with the kids. (As everyone else in Victoria, were also anxiously awaiting what the new restrictions will look like after the 13th September. Were keeping our fingers and toes crossed! )

11.01.2022 In case you dont recognise him... This is Jim, our toy maker, facilitator and creator of Little Woodworkers. When hes not in the workshop preparing for what were about to launch (very exciting announcement coming SOON!), hes up in the attic (for a change of scenery ) to insulate the house. He never stops.

10.01.2022 Its all hands on deck behind the scenes over here. Hence the radio silence... Were so close to launching... Pivoting (the buzz-word of the year) Little Woodworkers to the online world because of the impact these trying times have had on all of us. And to keep the woodwork activity going. ... And its going to be interesting. Not just for teachers. But also for parents. (Who keep emailing us to get their kids busy with wood. Australia-wide!) So, watch this space. The website is basically ready. But were also preparing to have everything ready to go once orders start flooding in. Nearly there now!

10.01.2022 Moving back into my office (from the makeshift desk above the bathtub!). A weekend of office-nesting ahead. . Thank you Daddy for putting up with my long and ever changing wish list.

09.01.2022 When it takes you all day Sunday to film one last tiny 1 minute video to finish up the website. Who wants to see a blooper collection?

08.01.2022 Look what I just found... a post from FOUR years ago. (Time flies.) It was our "back-to-school-dance". Seems like a lifetime ago. I thought it's quite fitting, as we're back to school next Tuesday. Hope you enjoy. Stay safe!

08.01.2022 We can do this... again!

07.01.2022 ***CONTACTLESS INCURSION PACKS NOW AVAILABLE*** We may have been quiet over here. But we’re never quiet behind the scenes. Always thinking. Always planning. What a rollercoaster of a year 2020 has been.... As of writing this, we are still not permitted to visit schools and kindergartens. I called the *Department of Education* a few times, to see when this is likely to change. Unfortunately they are just as much in the dark as we are. (In fact, some kindergartens have decided to have no visitors at all for the rest of the year regardless.) But there's always a SILVER LINING We received more and more enquiries from teachers wanting to purchase our (incursion) wooden toys as kits for their groups. So, we had to think of a way to make that happen. Once we figured out the logistics, recorded the videos and all the rest, we sent the official email to all our teachers a few weeks ago to let them know about our CONTACTLESS INCURSION PACKS. We couldn't believe the response we got. The first order came in 11 minutes after the email was sent. And it hasn't stopped since. You'll find ALL THE INFO in today's (freshly published) Blog littlewoodworkers.com.au/blog/contactless-incursion-packs If you’re a parent or teacher and would like to support a LOCAL BUSINESS (Melbourne made), help us spread the word. Or SHARE this post, so other teachers can put in their orders in time for some FUN memorable end-of-year activities.

07.01.2022 Since we completely revamped our website and added a WOOD SHOP, we now also added the option to join our email list to receive our (occasional) NEWSLETTER. That way you'll be FIRST to know about any updates, news and new products. (An email is going out about that tomorrow! ) LINK IN COMMENTS below.

06.01.2022 When Monday feels like Sunday.

05.01.2022 Quick coffee & lunch out with my partner in crime, Easy Peasy DIY Websites for Newbies, planning for 2021... We're still totally oblivious to the looming snap 5-day lockdown starting tonight. Until we got home and watched the 1 pm news. ... Stage 4 lockdown restrictions incl. schools closed. Childcare stays open... But not to worry, there’s always the *Contactless (VIRTUAL) Incursion Pack* option... You’ll find all the info you need on our website. (I’ll park the link in the comments for you just in case.) Fingers crossed it’ll really only be 5 days. We did this before. We can do it again. Together!

04.01.2022 Masks 2.0 for Lockdown 2.0. As face masks become mandatory as of midnight tonight (in Metro Melbourne and Mitchell Shire), we are ready. Little Woodworkers is complying with the directive of the Victorian Chief Health Officer and the Department of Education.... There's so much advice out there. And we're keeping up to date with the daily news, numbers and changes. - Educators are required to wear face masks travelling to and from the centre or school. - Once inside the centre or classroom, educators are not required to wear masks while teaching (unless they choose to). Side note, we are considering a face shield in any case and/or should face coverings become mandatory *inside* the facilities too, as it's so important for the children to see the face and facial expressions to make the most of their learning experience but still providing the protection. "A face shield means any film made from plastic or other transparent material designed or made to be worn like a visor, covering from the wearers forehead to below the chin area and wrapping around the sides of the wearers face, to provide the wearer protection." - DHHS, 21/07/2020 - Children over the age of 12 years must wear a mask when leaving the house. - Children under the age of 12 years are not required to wear face masks. However, it's at their parent's discretion to do so. - Masks are not recommended for toddlers due to safety concerns. _____________________________________ What's the best way to take off a face masks? - Wash your hands for at least 20 seconds with soap and water (Or use alcohol-based hand sanitiser containing at least 60% alcohol.) - Dont touch the front of the mask or your face. - Carefully remove your mask by grasping the ear loops or untying the ties. (For masks with a pair of ties, unfasten the bottom one first, then the top one.) - If your mask has filters, remove them and throw them away. - Fold the mask and put it directly into the laundry or into a disposable or washable bag for laundering. - Single use surgical masks should be disposed of responsibly. - Clean your hands again. We're in this together. We can do this! Stay safe!

04.01.2022 It was a different kind of Halloween, less people, less decorated houses, more social distancing. But it was still FUN.
