25.01.2022 Here at Little World for Active Learners we have incorporated Makaton signing into our learning program. Makaton is a way for both staff and children to communicate through the use of signs. This weeks Makaton signs are Fruits! In particular, Pear, Orange, Banana and Apple.

25.01.2022 NATIONAL PYJAMA DAY We have been counting down Today at Little World, we participated in National Pyjama Day to raise funds for those children in foster care.... The children and staff had such a fun day and enjoyed the comfort of Pj’s What a great way to end the week! We already can’t wait for next years Pyjama day! Have a lovely weekend

24.01.2022 BREAKING - Here's our back to school plan: Queensland state school students will return to the classroom in stages. Students in Kindy, Prep, Year 1, Year 1...1 and 12 will return to school on May 11 Students in Years 2-10 will continue remote learning at home Children of essential workers & vulnerable children in Years 2- 10 are still able to attend school We will review the situation on May 15, with the goal to welcome back all year levels to school on May 25 if low COVID-19 transmission rates continue. Some parents/carers of students in Kindy-Year 1, Year 11-12 may still choose to keep their children at home and that is respected. In these cases, parents/carers are responsible for ensuring their children stay home and continue working on learning material already provided by teachers & resources on the learning@home website. A sensible and gradual return is only possible because of Queensland’s success in slowing the spread of COVID-19. Thanks to everyone for your patience and cooperation! #coronavirus

19.01.2022 DIWALI Last week in the Waratah classroom, the children celebrated Diwali (the festival of light) with Miss Upkar. The children, as well as the staff had an amazing fun filled day as they participated in many Indian cultural activities such as dancing, the tasting of numerous Indian foods, henna designs on their hands and partook in a cultural blessing. ... Research suggests adults who engage children in culturally responsive educational experiences help to: Build young children's self-confidence and skills. Increase children's awareness, appreciation, and inclusion of diverse beliefs and cultures. Maximize children's academic achievement and educational success.

Today we welcomed Rhythm Culture into the centre to perform an African Drum and Sing performance! ... The children had lots of fun and were so excited to be able to play their own drum!

17.01.2022 Scrubs for Scrub up September! Here at Little World we are wearing scrubs to help raise awareness to the children in hospitals, as well as donating funds to go towards medical equipment, world-class research, interactive play and sensory areas in the Gold Coast children’s hospital.

14.01.2022 Our Garden Today at Little World, a group of children got the opportunity to visit our garden down at Country Paradise Community Gardens. The children explored all the garden beds and were able to identify the different kinds of plants and vegetables that laid within. This week in the Little World garden, we planted carrot and lettuce ... In the coming weeks we will be planting other kinds of vegetables and watching them grow overtime yay!
