20.01.2022 "At the base of all this learning there are little human beings and I really wanted to make a connection and find out where they are.. I want to move them from where they are to somewhere.." Thank you again Dianne Chambers - Creator of Life Skills Coach for Kids for your time and being a guest on my Joyful Teachers interview series.

20.01.2022 Time for a rebalance... Being a tall person who works with small people this is an essential part of my health care practice. I am in such good hands and have learnt so much about myself through regular Chiro appointment. Once you know what your habits are, good AND bad, you can make the changes you need to live more fully and aware of your health - which we sometimes still take for granted. ... Now, back to those transition statements!

19.01.2022 Something I have wanted to try for a long time! Thanks to my friend Val who expertly guided me through the process #joyfulteachers #gottaleadbyexampleright #supbutnotsup

19.01.2022 Feeling excited for the new season approaching. It was a lovely way to enjoy my hour of exercise to be uplifted by the colours, sights and smells of Spring on a walk in my local area today.

17.01.2022 Let the world know why youre here, and do it with passion - Wayne Dyer

17.01.2022 I might be a bit late to the party, but I have recently started enjoying Chai Lattes to warm me up on these wet, chilly days. What have you been enjoying?

16.01.2022 Here is the link to my third interview in the series, with Janet Smith. Janet is an experienced teacher and the Director of Orchestra at the International School of Brussels, Belgium. A passionate and dedicated musician, I was fortunate to have worked with Janet during my time at ISB. Not only was I teacher to both of her two young children at the time, but I was also a colleague and 'student' of sorts as I learnt so much from her, including the desire to learn more about the... importance of arts in early childhood education. Living and working in a different country has both it challenges and rewards. One such is reward is the depth of the relationships and bonds that are formed when you learn new ways of being and doing things together with colleagues who often become friends. Janet is one of those very special people whose warmth and authenticity you can feel even via the power of the internet. As I often shared with parents throughout my career, it is not only the children who make friendships that can last well beyond the time that is spent together during their shared learning time together. How wonderful is that! Please comment below with your experiences of friendships you have made throughout your educational experiences - these could be as a child/student, a teacher/colleague or a parent who has made friendships with other parents. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wcraL6hyl0k&t=10s #joyfulteachers #teachingthefuture #educationconsultant #lifeskillsforkids #emotionalregulation

15.01.2022 My hit of the year has arrived! The Masked Teacher It was so wonderful to get some instant feedback from my students during that 35 minute call as many of my recent interactions had been pre recorded. Playing a beloved guessing game that involved families sending us an animal (chosen by their children prior to the call), clues were generated for the children to participate with their guesses helped provide the sense of something familiar and meaningful for them, and US! ... How have your students, or the children in your life marked/will mark the end of the school/preschool term?

15.01.2022 I have been thinking about this a lot lately. Why is it that some of us are feeling more tired now that we have been 'asked' to stop in an attempt to control the spread of Coronavirus? It's certainly more than a physical response to the world and the 'new normal' around us - it is the symptoms we might display, but also in the words and phrases we use to describe how we are feeling. 15.01.2022 In all my teaching years I’ve never ended a term like this! We held an online dress up day for the children to mark the end of almost an entire term of being apart. Bring on term 4 to see them all in person

13.01.2022 Anxiety happens when you think you have to figure out everything out all at once...Karen Salmansohn I have been so worried about all the things that needed to be done to prepare for teaching during this lockdown until I saw the children who were just ready to play! Once I saw them it reminded me to borrow their innocence to live in the moment. What wise words have you benefited from hearing when things feel overwhelming to you or someone you love?

13.01.2022 A few short years ago I never imagined that I would even be able to run around the block without stopping - let alone complete a half marathon. It's been a busy time in my business and I'm celebrating hitting one of my big goals for 2020........ Launching my first 5 week online course for teachers! Today you'll find me mostly walking along the beach rather than running along it to give back to myself and hit the reset button. What's something you like to do when you complete a challenge or goal you have set for yourself? Feel free to comment below.

05.01.2022 If you’ve been thinking 'where's Jo been lately?'.. it’s because behind the scenes I’ve been head down working hard. I'm not gonna lie, keeping all the balls in the air at once is sometimes hard and sometimes I drop a couple. This last few weeks I've been so deep in transition statements, 2021 enrolments and settling in to our new kinder after our move... that popping up on social media just slipped away. But, I’m still here, watching from the sidelines #joyfulteacher

04.01.2022 Did you know that showing gratitude actually makes you a happier person? It does seem like a good time to think about what I am grateful for given this lockdown. A friend recently described it for her as a 'gift' so that she could pursue the things wating for her to get around to... Here are 2 things I am grateful for right now 1. Family and friends because they are here for me and we can talk through the strange and odd moments together... 2. My lovely home that is my sanctuary What are you grateful for today?

03.01.2022 I have been thinking about some of the sayings that stay with you and why they seem to stick. My maternal grandmother used to say 'Start as you mean to go on' - I like to remember this when I am in the mood to procrastinate! What messages have stayed with you?

01.01.2022 Spotted this beauty on the back of my car. It's not often that you get to see a dragon fly up close like this.
