25.01.2022 This Morning at 7am we got called out to a structure fire at Three Bridges. On arrival we were pleased to see that all occupants of the house had evacuated the premises and were safe. Unfortunatelly the house could not be saved. A huge thank you to Yarra Junction Fire Brigade (CFA), Wesburn / Millgrove CFA, Hillcrest Fire Brigade, Warburton Fire Brigade CFA, Yellingbo Rural Fire Brigade, Bayswater Fire Brigade-CFA, Victoria Police, Ambulance Victoria for all of their support and resorces that we recieved from them. Thank you to all members that attended.

25.01.2022 We can't get a truck to every house in a bushfire, so we need your help to ensure your safety Be prepared, monitor conditions and leave early. Emergency services may not be able to help you if you decide to stay.

23.01.2022 We’re about to start an important fire season safety campaign. If you have any concerns, or you or a loved one are emotionally affected by the campaign, support is available at vic.gov.au/knowfire or by calling Lifeline 13 11 14. Plan. Act. Survive.

20.01.2022 Did you know the flame temperature of a bushfire can reach 1100c? It will be too late to make a plan when a fire is approaching. Be prepared and know what you’ll do in the event of a fire. #PlanActSurvive

20.01.2022 If conditions are suitable and it’s safe to do so, Forest Fire Management Victoria will ignite planned burns at McMahons Creek along Wood Point Road, and Crooke...d Creek near East Warburton tomorrow (Monday 9 November). The burns at McMahons Creek and Crooked Creek are around 4.2-hectares and 12-hectares respectively and are focused on reducing the spread and intensity of bushfires in the surrounding area. Speed reductions will be in place on Woods Point Road on Monday between East Warburton and McMahons Creek with delays possible. We work closely with the Bureau of Meteorology to assess weather conditions, such as humidity, temperature and wind speed, and will only carry out burns when the conditions are suitable. We understand that smoke from planned burns may cause concern and encourage those who are sensitive to smoke to remain indoors and keep windows closed until the smoke passes. Under the current public health advice, our planned burning program can continue for now. If that advice changes, we will make any adjustments necessary in consultation with Victorian Department of Health & Human Services, Environment Protection Authority Victoria, CFA (Country Fire Authority) and Vic Emergency. Our crews are adhering to appropriate physical distancing and hygiene requirements to ensure we can safely continue operations across the state. To find out when and where planned burns are happening near you go to www.vic.gov.au/plannedburns or call 1800 226 226. 13.01.2022 Over the next few days the temperature is starting to rise, and summer is fast approaching. In this heat, it will take only minutes for your beloved dog to po...ssibly die or suffer from serious health issues as a result of being left in a hot car. Never leave your kids in cars no matter how quick the dash to shops is! The inside temperature of your car is a lot higher than you think!

13.01.2022 From all of us at Little Yarra CFA we would like to wish everyone a very safe and Happy New Year. Hopefully we will not need to come to visit you in our big red truck. Stay safe and take care.

11.01.2022 Not everyone finds this a joyous time of year. If you are finding this time difficult we hope you will reach out and speak to someone. This year has been tough, but you don't have to tough it out alone.

10.01.2022 Today I was joined by my emergency services colleagues to launch #FireActionWeek2020 at a property in Little River, where we went through vital fire season prep...aration activities. The message is clear, we need all Victorians to act now - start cleaning up and make a bushfire plan to stay safe this summer. For more information on how you can stay safe this summer visit www.cfa.vic.gov.au/about/fire-action-week-2020

07.01.2022 Everyone in Victoria who lives near dense forest, bush, grassland or the coast needs to prepare their property for bushfire. Below are some tips from Captain Ko...ala on preparing your property: Roof gutters - Keep gutters and roof areas clear of leaf litter. Leaf litter in guttering is a ember ignition point. Keep grass short - Keep grass cut to less than 10cm. Fire can ignite and travel quickly through long grass. Mowing and slashing can greatly reduce fine fuel levels. Leaves and Twigs - Get rid of dry grass, leaves, twigs and loose bark. Less fuel = less fire. Prune shrubs -Prune lower branches of shrubs to separate from surface fuels underneath. Prune shrubs well away from branches of mature trees. Cut back branches - Cut back overhanging tree branches close to property no branches in 10m space. For more information on preparing your property please see here: https://www.cfa.vic.gov.au/plan-prepare #CKDoesSummerPreparation #LessFuelEqualsLessFire #PlanAndPrepare #CleanUpBeforeABushfireDoes

06.01.2022 Residents in Mount Dandenong, Montrose and Kalorama may see or smell smoke from the ignition of two planned burns in Dandenong Ranges National Park on Thursday ...4 March: A 9-hectare planned burn at Kyeema Track East, Mount Dandenong and A 5.5-hectare planned burn at Rowdys Track, Montrose. A number of tracks in and around the area will be closed while the burn is being carried out. This burn is being carried out across public and private land in partnership with CFA (Country Fire Authority). The two planned burns are being carried out for asset protection and are focussed on helping to protect the surrounding community and public infrastructure they will slow the spread of bushfires and providing opportunities for our firefighters to conduct successful suppression operations during bushfire response. Weather permitting, both burns will be completed by Thursday evening and crews will remain on-site throughout the night and in the days following to patrol the areas. Under the current public health advice, planned burning is continuing across Victoria. During the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, we continue to work closely with the Department of Health and Environment Protection Authority to ensure we keep the smoke impacts from planned burning as low as practically possible. 04.01.2022 Tonight quite a few of us may need a good old fashioned hug, a virtual hug is the best we can do though, so from us to you - please wrap arms around phone or mo...nitor now. Given the current circumstances, a lot of us will be feeling a thousand different emotions over the next 5 days, and that’s completely normal, however it is ok to not be ok! We can’t always deal with these emotions on our own. If you feel you need help and it’s not an emergency, it’s best to speak to your doctor or contact one of the services listed below. If needed, your doctor can refer you to mental health professionals.
