18.01.2022 Working hard again yesterday on a final reccie for tomorrow's trip - waterfalls, swimming holes, lilo, hiking, the most incredible variety of crabs and nearly stepped on a flathead, if only I had a fishing line! Looking forward to going again tomorrow with the crew :-)

18.01.2022 Happy Easter weekend!! According to Google, adventure is an unusual and exciting or daring experience. In the circumstances, I reckon that could include all kinds of activities - they can be unusual and exciting (or daring in the case of eating my cooking for example). My ‘adventure’ is to dust off the old juggling balls, test our mini fire pit with marshmallows and damper and to live vicariously with an adventure movie or two.... Also on the list is catching up old tax returns (unusual and daring but unfortunately misses the mark on exciting...) What adventures have you got planned!?

18.01.2022 Here's a video taster of last Sunday's hike and lilo. Hope you enjoy! ...PS If anyone knows where to get royalty free music that isn't massively cheesy, please let me know! Just one more lilo trip this season with 4 spots lefton 22nd March, get on it!

17.01.2022 Want to hear one of the world’s best singers? Turn on the sound on for this one! I heard this Superb lyrebird in the Snowy Mtns earlier this year. All these sounds came from just one bird. What sounds can you hear it mimic? Currawong? Magpie? Australian raven? Kookaburra? Lorikeets? There’s probably heaps more, the range is incredible. They can mimic chainsaws, car engines, camera shutters, car and fire alarms, rifle shots, dogs barking, crying babies and mobile phone rington...es! They sing most in winter, up to 4hrs of the day - no wonder they’re so good! There’s even a stylised superb lyrebird on the transparent window of Australian $100 note. I reckon I could have this loop as the soundtrack to any day... Photo: "DSC_1444" by Bird Brian licensed under CC BY 2.0 https://www.flickr.com/photos/51156152@N00/9319608165

17.01.2022 **Trips are paused** Hi Adventurers, first, a big thank you for your support and involvement in the Live Adventure community so far :-) Lisa is nearly 6 months pregnant and unfortunately that means trips will go on hold for a time.... If you've been with us a while you'd know we're normally out there every Sunday fortnight with trips posted in advance. But there's none coming up on the website - noo! I honestly thought I could squeeze in a couple more trips but I'm due early October and in the end I decided it's time to relax, take the pressure off and not try to hike heavy packs up big hills! I'm very sorry to those of you who joined recently and haven't been able to come on a trip yet and I'm also sorry to the regulars who I will certainly miss! But never fear - I plan to store up lots of fun adventure ideas and return with even better trips after a break, so I hope you'll stay tuned. I'd love to see you when things restart. In the meantime, I wish you all the best, thanks again for your enthusiasm and for being a bunch of genuine, down to earth, fun and just all-round awesome people. Lisa

13.01.2022 A few weeks back when travelling was ok, Lisa Buchanan and Lisa figured if we were going to isolate, might as well isolate in Kosciusko NP! We camped, hiked, caught up and enjoyed our last packets of pasta by the campfire. Gotta say, camping is a lot easier without social distancing and frantic disinfecting every 5mins! I have thoroughly enjoyed the campfire smell permeating all my gear since I got back (Ian not so much!) ;-) ... ...It's incredible how grounded and permanent nature is - COVID-19 seems (and is) just another season blowing through the branches of those grand, old trees.

13.01.2022 Finally, a rainy weekend ahead! I hope you get to splash in puddles and enjoy some muddy adventures! :-)

12.01.2022 Will we all be this ripped after the SUP on Sunday? Hmm, in the interests of honest advertising, pretty sure I won't be! ...But it's a stunning hike too and at least we're guaranteed to be smiling more than him! Only one ticket left so if you've been on the fence, head to the website and get in ASAP!

12.01.2022 Did you have a fun Sunday? We hit Berowra Valley for a hike and paddle with a great bunch Not a drop of rain but it was a good workout paddling out into the headwind! ...made us feel like pros on the way back! Bonus is we actually have photos this time since I didn't drop my phone in the river!

12.01.2022 Are you worried about trips and COVID-19? Here's an update from Live Adventure: Trips are going ahead at this stage as they are outdoors, in a small group, not requiring close contact and authorities haven't given advice to restrict these activities. However, we will take precautions: ... - maintaining 'social distance' - using hand sanitizer (which I'll bring) - I'll also modify the snacks (likely individual snack packs) Of course, if you are booked on a trip and become ill or experiencing any symptoms of illness, please get in touch and don't join the trip! I'll arrange a credit so you don't lose out. Here are some good sources of current information: - Australian Department of Health: https://www.health.gov.au//novel-coronavirus-2019-ncov-hea - NSW Health FAQs: https://www.health.nsw.gov.au//Pages/coronavirus-faqs.aspx Who knows what's around the corner, but at this stage, authorities say it's safe to go ahead with small activities like these trips, so let's enjoy our opportunities (safely)!

11.01.2022 Adventure book recommendations?? My eclectic range of lockdown books has been carefully curated based on availability on the local community book shelf. They’ve been unusual, but it’s probably time to read some books by choice! Which got me thinking about adventure stories :-) A couple of my favourite adventure reads are:... Pole to Pole by Pat Farmer This is one of the most incredible stories. The guy ran from the north to south pole to raise money for the Red Cross. That's 21000kms. To put it in context, most people think the 100km Trailwalker is hard - imagine doing 210 in about 9 months, then throw in polar conditions, rogue militia, dehydration, getting lost and winds so strong they knock you off your feet! He averaged 65kms/day including polar regions, some days covering 100kms or more. To be honest, the storytelling could have done with a hit of adrenalin as it’s purely his diary record but it’s still a fantastic read. Changing Gears by Greg Foyster Unexpectedly good read. A couple cycles up the east coast of Australia chasing a simpler life and sustainability by stopping to learn from a series of eccentric characters on the way. Those were the first two that came to mind, but there’s heaps more. I liked Between a Rock and a Hard Place, Touch the Top of the World, Born to Run. There’s the classics too - Touching the Void, Into Thin Air, Call of the Wild, Into the Wild, Endurance, even 20000 leagues under the sea. Slightly off topic but a lifestyle adventure was Animal, Vegetable, Miracle (about eating local for a year - hilarious and inspiring) and a favourite, The Overstory (resonated with me - incredibly powerful, beautiful, and on point). And let's not forget Winnie the Pooh! What are your favourites??

09.01.2022 A little fun from the stand up paddle on our hike and SUP trip yesterday - we had some acrobats! Thanks to Bundeena Kayaks - Kayak & Paddle Board Hire and Tours for the great beginner boards and friendly staff :-) Photos are on the way...

08.01.2022 For some weekend entertainment - a very different kettle of fish to our relaxed Sunday trips with snack stops but a different kind of adventure. It's a look behind the scenes of adventure racing with the 6 times adventure race world champions. Very inspiring - makes me want to race again (a little slower than them though)! https://www.youtube.com/watch

08.01.2022 Feeling lethargic after so much time at home in lockdown? Me too! How about refreshing with a mini break this Sunday? Join us on a beautiful hike and kayak adventure on the serene waters of Berowra Creek (social distancing included!)... https://liveadventure.com.au/event/kayak-hike-may2020/

07.01.2022 The whole lot, gone... The bushfires affect us all in different ways, especially those confronted with direct impacts. Fortunately I haven't been up close, but to lose so many places which hold a cherished place deep in our hearts still loosens a tear or two. Words are inadequately one dimensional for wilderness but nonetheless... https://liveadventure.com.au/wildernesslost/... You might know I hiked for 6 days last November seeing barely a soul but the beautiful native plants and animals. Not a skerrick of the area and few, if any of those beautiful souls, escaped the fire :-(

05.01.2022 These legends embraced a real adventure in the cold and rain to make the most of on Sunday's trip! The rain was a bonus though - the waterfalls were at their most impressive and feeling cool drops on your face while floating on a lilo is a beautiful feeling :-) ...but I did enjoy the hot shower when I home!!

03.01.2022 As promised, some happy snaps from the trip on Sunday. Awesome views and lots of laughs - a few unexpected swims will do that!

03.01.2022 Enjoying the weather...

02.01.2022 Good news, trips are back on!! Live Adventure trips will restart next Sunday 24th May! The same mix of exercising, exploring cool places and socialising with like-minded people, with a couple of precautions:... - I'll carefully pre pack individual snacks, no sharing needed. - We'll social distance, staying 1.5m apart. - Our small groups are already within the 10 person limit. If you're like me and are done with being stuck inside, how about breaking free and booking a fun adventure on the website

01.01.2022 Easter weekend's "adventure" - it felt good to imagine a camping trip, even if we couldn't leave the place!
