19.01.2022 16 year-old North Ipswich artist Hanna Jones won the top prize in the Queensland Youth Week 2020 (QYW20) art competition. Hannah's artwork titled "SALAD", reflects the passion and diverse creativity of young Queenslanders. It highlights the influences on young peoples' lives, such as music and pop culture, and the collective drive to protect the environment and make a positive impact. QYW20 will be held from 19 April, and is an annual celebration of young people.... We'll be doing something locally to celebrate the young people in our community... so keep checking back for more info! #empoweringyouth #qyw20 #youthtransitionservices

10.01.2022 Here's a shout out to our wonderful Talitha, who spent a day last week doing work experience with Di Farmer MP!! She's currently completing a degree in social work with aspirations of becoming the Child Safety Minister one day. Such a great learning opportunity for her. We couldn't be more proud!

09.01.2022 Today I was at the Sunshine Coast for most of the day, visiting carers, opening a new sexual assault service, meeting our staff, and speaking at a symposium on ...supporting teenage parents. It was a great chance to have Talitha Aroha Crystal with me again, who has been through the foster care system herself, is now studying social work, and wants my job one day (which I hope she’ll get)! To hear her perspective on all these things, and her inspiration to make a difference to others - well it was a great privilege. We should always be learning and today I learnt from Talitha. 08.01.2022 We provide a vital link to resources and opportunities for young people so, that they don't have to tackle becoming an adult alone. https://m.youtube.com/watch

06.01.2022 Youth Homelessness Matters Day is on 15 April. Young people’s homelessness is often hidden, so it’s easier to ignore. But couchsurfing, severely overcrowded acc...ommodation and staying in refuges is damaging, even if it’s not visible. Young people who can’t live at home need housing + support to keep their life on track #YHMD2020 #everybodyshome See more

05.01.2022 Need some help figuring out what you want to do? This one's for you...

03.01.2022 For most of us, when our kids leave school, we’re there right along beside them, helping them navigate what happens next, being a sounding board, helping them m...ake good decisions, supporting them if they get into trouble. For many kids who’ve been in care, this isn’t necessarily an option, with often noone to turn to once they’re 18. It’s why we fund the Next Steps program. We make sure these young people have someone to guide them through life’s challenges, link them up to services or whatever they need. And the young man in this video tells such a beautiful story about how it helped him. The way I see the world is beautiful but some of the things I went through as a kid kind of lingered.....now I’m being part of society not just going down a bad road like the statistic says about kids in care...I can overcome most obstacles that get thrown at me.
