25.01.2022 Face to face Band rehearsals resume next Tuesday, 7th July (7.30pm session only). That's just one week away! LCBB Concert Ensemble resumes rehearsals on Sunday 12th July at 1pm. Our beginners classes are not currently planned to return this year.... We will be strictly adhering to our COVID Safety Plan, which includes physical distancing and room size limits. We still have capacity for new members and visitors, however please contact us prior to attending, via messenger, email: [email protected] or on 0435 565 512.

23.01.2022 Though the sun is presently shining, there's still some bad weather and flooding about the area. For the safety of our members, rehearsal is cancelled this evening. See you all next week

22.01.2022 ~MEET THE BAND~ Bev Newitt Musical Director & Vice President ... What have been your favourite moments or events with the Band? I'm passionate about ANZAC Day, particularly the Dawn Service but every event, every rehearsal are my favourites... always a surprise and always fabulous to see my fellow amazing Band members and spend some quality time with them! I love performing in front of an appreciative audience... doesn’t matter where. Sharing music with others is so uplifting. Do you prefer a particular genre of music? Is there a favourite piece? I really enjoy all genres of music usually. I like a nice balance of everything and a bit of tough stuff to challenge as well. Always enjoy a nice relaxing ballad or hymn or two and a March or swing number to give me an ear worm all the way home! At the moment, my favourite piece is Barrie Gott’s Pageant! I also love the music of Leroy Anderson. What are your aspirations for the future? My future dream is to get the technology (and have the time and dexterity) to write music for my band. My favourite quote to pass on to other people is: No pain, no gain!

22.01.2022 The LCBB Concert Ensemble rehearsal is on today, 1pm to 4pm at the Band Hall. Our Concert Ensemble provides an opportunity for those who play instruments not catered for in our Brass Band to come together and make music together.

19.01.2022 ~MEET THE BAND~ Kate & Brendan Lucas What instrument/s do you play and how long have you been playing?... Kate: "The Tenor Horn was my first attempt at brass instrument a little over 12 months ago. I was already familiar with reading music so I picked up the basics pretty quickly, but I’m no means an expert. #2ndtenorhorn let’s go!" Brendan: "I have played many woodwind instruments such as the recorder, flute, clarinet, saxophone oboe and bassoon when I was the younger. I decided to learn a brass instrument to play down at a jazz band which I am apart of. One evening, Bev brought a tenor horn to show us and I immediately wanted too play in a brass band. At Liverpool I began in the tenor horn but jumped around on different instruments settling in the Euphonium for the past year." Do you have a favourite music genre or piece of music? Kate: "In terms of band music anything not to fast or with a lot of accidentals is okay. Marches are pretty satisfying on the horn along with most hymns. Outside of band I don’t listen to the classical or 20th century music we play at Liverpool, mainly the modern stuff for me." Brendan: "I enjoy playing a wide variety of music at band from classical and traditional lives contemporary and 20th music. Usually something challenging to get the mind thinking or a nice counter melody or harmony is most satisfying too play although simple pieces are popular among audiences and good fun to play. Outside of band I listen of a variety of music from orchestral to folk music such as The Seekers." What has been your most memorable moment or event playing with LCBB? Kate: "All the parties and snacks are always an added bonus to coming to band. I love the opportunity I have to catch up with all the members on a weekly basis. LCBB is a great chance for me to get away from my HSC studies one night a week and enjoy some social time with friends and family." Brendan:" One of my first and most memorable performances with LCBB was the Crookwell potato festival in 2019. It was an enjoyable experience travelling down with other members of the band and staying overnight to perform for the local citizens." Hit us up with your favourite quote! Kate: The best way to cheer yourself up is to try to cheer someone else up - Mark Twain Brendan: "Music is not in the notes but in the silence between" - Mozart
