Sydney Children’s Hospitals Foundation CEO, Nicola Stokes, said sh...e was thrilled with the generosity shown by New South Wales shoppers during these challenging times. Vital funds raised by Coles, their staff and customers, will help to support Oncology Fellows - cancer specialists who provide expert care for kids living with cancer throughout NSW," Stokes said. Oncology Fellows work to improve methods of diagnosis, reduce the side effects of treatments and aim to increase cure rates. They’re helping sick kids right now, plus they’re investing in the health of future generations of children around the world. Thanks to the generosity of Coles and communities across New South Wales, funds raised will help make each day better than the one before, for kids living with cancer." We’re incredibly proud of the generosity shown by our Casula customers and team members in supporting a cause that remains close to the hearts of many New South Wales residents, he said. We know times have been particularly difficult for families in need of the Sydney Children’s Hospitals Foundations support this year, and our customers’ record-breaking fundraising is a testament to their enduring community spirit. 06.01.2022 She’s an award-winning children’s author AND she’s also a local so we’re very proud to announce that Angela May George has released her second novel - ‘Step Up, Shine On.’ Tackling the trials of growing up in a world of selfies and social media, and fakery and friendship with insight and humour, ‘Step Up, Shine On’ is an uplifting story of multicultural Australia that isn’t afraid to explore the pitfalls of culture clashes, cliques and the joys of being on the soccer pitch. ... Endorsed by Westfield Matildas and Tottenham Hotspur Women's player Alanna Kennedy, the story will especially resonate with second generations - the children of migrants to Australia - just as ‘Looking for Alibrandi’ once did. From the books cover: Kat’s got all the ingredients to go all the way. But she fails her exams on purpose to avoid the pressure of the top classes. She kills it in soccer, but never trials for the rep teams. She’s happy to fly under the radar, unlike her oh-so-perfect Wonder Brother. But this year things are shifting. Not least in her friendships. Lavinia has defected to none other than The Triad of She-Wolves, but Kat's gained the new girl, the Goth, and after tutoring Bayani’s brother, a boyfriend! When secrets are revealed and loyalties are tested, Kat discovers that it is time for her to step up and shine. George is also the author of ‘How I didn’t straighten my hair...and other life lessons (2018),’ and ‘Out (2016)’ - a stunningly powerful picture book that was nominated for the CBCA Children’s Book of the Year (2018).
