One case was temporarily reclassified from a confirmed to probable case on 12 October while under review is re-included today, having now being confirmed as a positive case. Of the new cases to 8pm last night: Three were acquired overseas and are now in hotel quarantine Eleven were locally acquired, and all are linked to known cases Nine of the new cases reported today are linked to the Lakemba GP cluster, which now has 12 cases in total. All nine cases are household or other contacts of known cases, including three who attended the clinic. Contact tracing and investigations into the source of the cluster continue. Two of the new cases reported today are linked to the private clinic cluster, which now has 10 cases in total. One case attended the clinic, and the other is a staff member at the clinic. Contact tracing and investigations into the source of the cluster continue. One of the new cases of COVID-19 reported today attended the Narellan Town Centre on Camden Valley Way on 7 October from 11.30am to 1pm. Anyone who attended this venue at this time is considered a casual contact and must monitor for symptoms and get tested immediately if they develop any symptoms. After testing, they must remain in isolation until a negative test result is received. Everyone plays an important role in helping to contain the pandemic by testing quickly and following social distancing rules. Get tested on the day you get symptoms don’t wait to see if they go away. Assume it’s COVID-19 until proven otherwise by a test. There is no limit on how many tests you can have. Testing is quick, free, and easy and most people receive their test result within 24 hours. If you have even the mildest of symptoms like a runny nose or scratchy throat, cough, fever or other symptoms that could be COVID-19, please come forward for testing right away. Locations linked to known cases, advice on testing and isolation, and areas identified for increased testing can be found here: https://www.nsw.gov.au/covid-19/latest-news-and-updates. NSW Health is treating 62 COVID-19 cases, including one in intensive care who does not require ventilation. 19.01.2022 #COVID19 update Tuesday 15 September. Seven new cases of COVID-19 were diagnosed in the 24 hours to 8pm last night, and one previous case has now been excluded ...following further investigation, bringing the total number of cases in NSW to 3,987. Testing numbers have dropped over the past two weeks, which is a concern particularly in areas like South Western, Western and South Eastern Sydney. Of the seven new cases to 8pm last night: Three are overseas travellers in hotel quarantine One is from Victoria in hotel quarantine Two are locally acquired and linked to a known case or cluster One is locally acquired with their source still under investigation One new case is a household contact of a previous case linked to Concord Hospital. One new case is a healthcare worker at Liverpool Hospital. Source investigations are still ongoing and contact tracing is underway. One new case is a returned NSW resident from Victoria. All passengers on the same flight from Victoria into Sydney are in hotel quarantine. N SW Health can also advise a new additional case has now been confirmed in a student of Blue Mountains Grammar school. The school is now closed while further tracing and cleaning is undertaken. This case will be included in tomorrows official numbers. While the number of locally acquired cases recorded in the past 24 hours is low, the virus is likely circulating among people in the community with mild symptoms. As such, the risk of outbreaks and a resurgence of cases remains. NSW Health is again urging anyone feeling unwell even with the mildest of symptoms such as a runny nose or scratchy throat to come forward and get tested, so cases in the community are identified as quickly as possible. This is even more important with the upcoming school holidays, when people will travel across the state. Locations linked to known cases, advice on testing and isolation, and areas identified for increased testing can be found here: https://www.nsw.gov.au/covid-19/latest-news-and-updates. NSW Health is treating 86 COVID-19 cases, including six in intensive care, three of whom are being ventilated. Eighty-six per cent of cases being treated by NSW Health are in non-acute, out-of-hospital care. COVID-19 testing clinics can be found here: https://www.nsw.gov.au//how-to-protect-yourself-an/clinics, or call your GP.

18.01.2022 According to Liverpool Plains Shire Council Mayor, Councillor Andrew Hope, as if COVID-19 restrictions arent causing enough problems for local businesses battl...ing to remain viable, they also have to contend with a substantial increase in the number of people buying online from businesses that can be based anywhere in the world and those travelling to regional hubs to shop. He said now more than ever it was vital to Go Local First to give local businesses the best opportunity of making it through the pandemic and ensuring our rural community maintains the goods and services they provide. From the local baker, saddler or plumber to the local pharmacy, food outlet or fencing contractor, small businesses contribute together to make something far more valuable than anything they do or sell. They help to build and are an important component of the fabric of our local communities. They bring income to our towns and villages, provide local jobs, give our kids apprenticeships and work experience. They support local sporting teams, donate to local charities and work as volunteers, Councillor Hope said. LPSC has been supporting the National Go Local First campaign from day 1. In recent weeks weve streamlined our social media campaign to focus more on local businesses, their owners, the locals they employ and people who shop there. They are local faces we all recognise and highlight the reasons we should Go Local First; for the convenience they offer, for the jobs they provide and their important role in the local economy. If youve got a local business in the LPS, whether you have a shopfront or are a contractor or supplier of services, send Council a photo that illustrates what your business does and where possible includes employees and/or customers and well use them as part of the campaign. Send your contact details, the address of you operations and a few words about the nature of your business accompanying your photo via email to Attn Local Business Photo [email protected]. This campaign is about all our local businesses so whether youre in the towns, villages or based on a property please join in he continued. Our quality lifestyle in a rural community is dependent on convenient availability of goods and services. Any businesses we lose because of COVID-19 may never return. So, support local businesses, keep the Shire economy operating and Go Local First, he concluded.

08.01.2022 Major milestone reached, as tenders called for Quipolly Water Project. Federal member for New England Barnaby Joyce and State Member for Tamworth Kevin Anderso...n came to Quipolly Dam today to announce that tenders have been called for the Quipolly Water Project. The new state of the art Water Treatment Plant at Quipolly Dam will facilitate the replacement of existing aged and outdated water supply infrastructure including the Werris Creek Water Treatment Plant. Council is extremely grateful to both the Federal and State Government for each contributing $10 million towards the project. The Federal contribution was delivered through their Community Development Grant Program and the State contribution through their Safe and Secure Water Program. Tenders for the project will close on 30 October and Councillors will decide on a preferred tender during December. Barring unforeseen circumstances it is anticipated the project will be completed by December 2022. LPSC Mayor, Andrew Hope, said this is tremendous news for our community reaching this significant milestone on the QWP, the largest and most significant project the Shire has ever undertaken. For our community this project is akin to what the Snowy Mountains Scheme is at the National level. I sincerely thank the Ministers who have listened to our case for funding, Federal Member Barnaby Joyce and State Members Kevin Anderson and Michael Johnsen, for their support, and the staff in various government departments for their guidance. Last but not least, I thank Councils Water Services Manager Rod Batterham, his team and others in the Engineering Services Department for their enormous contribution in getting us to this stage, he said.

There are 4 categories to be being judged - Best House Best Business Best Lights Display Best All Rounder Councillor Hawkins said entry forms are available online from the LPSC website at http://www.lpsc.nsw.gov.au/index.p/mycommunity/competitions, via survey monkey at www.surveymonkey.com/r/LPSXMAS20, Council’s Administration Centre, Werris Creek library and the Willow Tree Visitor Information Centre. He said judging will take place during the evenings of Monday 14 to Wednesday 16 December. Completed entry forms should be emailed to [email protected] or delivered to the facility where the entry forms were picked up from. The winners will be announced on Wednesday 23 December on Council’s Facebook page and in the Quirindi Advocate, he said. Christmas lights are enjoyment that can be delivered in a Covid-safe manner. It adds to community ambience as homes and businesses look stunning at night. They can help brighten us all up after what has been a rather difficult year for many and prepare us for spending holiday time relaxing with family and friends, he continued. I’d like to thank all those who join and share the spirit of the season and encourage others to get into the festive mood, by decorating their homes and businesses and bring extra Christmas cheer to the Liverpool Plains Shire, Councillor Hawkins concluded.

05.01.2022 At its September Ordinary Meeting, LPSC resolved to reduce the charges to sporting facility user groups by 50 per cent for the 2020/21 financial year. LPSC Mayo...r, Councillor Doug Hawkins OAM, said Council had received several requests from sporting facility user groups seeking a reduction in fees as COVD-19 impacted their clubs ability to run events, thus reducing their capacity to raise funds to pay the fees. LPSC acknowledges the importance of sport and recreation to the community and, as such during normal times, user fees are determined on a 30 per cent cost recovery basis with Council providing a significant subsidy to assist the user groups, many of which are organised and run by volunteers. The reduction for the rest of this financial year reduces that cost recovery to fifteen percent, he said. It is important that everything possible is done to assist these organisations to make it through the pandemic, so they continue to operate where possible now and into the future. No club has sought a total waiving of the fees, acknowledging that Council still incurs costs to maintain and operate these facilities even with lower usage, he continued. It is Council policy and part of the Community Strategic Plan to support local groups, including sporting, youth and recreational organisations. Community interest in sport and recreation was evident as Council developed the LP Recreation Strategy. Council is now embarking on the biggest investment in its history towards sport and recreation. Funding has been secured to the value of $3,117,950 to commence implementation of the Showground Precinct and the Quirindi Sporting Fields Precinct projects as well as funding from other sources for further developments at David Taylor Oval Werris Creek and recreation grounds in our smaller communities. There are exciting times ahead for sport and recreation in the Liverpool Plains Shire, he concluded.

04.01.2022 REPRODUCTION! Now that I have your attention :-) Just wanted to say here, as I mention to everyone who is interested in and buys the cast iron and tin products,... these are NEW and REPRODUCTION items, not original. They are not collectable or of high value. They are affordable look-a-likes for those who don't have thousands of $$$ to spend on original signage and memorabilia, and most importantly, they look NEW. Some may refer to these items as rubbish, and some grace their bars, mancaves, she sheds etc, with these historic brands we have grown up with, and have happy memories of those days. So if you prefer original, save a few months income and head out to the auctions. Having said that, I currently have 2 original Mobil drums at present, but affordable due to condition and other factors. So enjoy these items, knowing they are still made of good materials, but hot off the press so to speak. See more
04.01.2022 20 smiling faces played the 9-holes Vets stableford competition at Quirindi RSL golf course. With the fine conditions on a great Spring morning and some red hot... scoring. A fantastic score of 24points Gwen Benham was a runaway winner of the day. Runner up with a virtually normal winning score was Ken Cronin on 21points. The 3rd placings on 20points each went to Don Shone and Col Stewart. Next player with 19points was Jim Clair. This Friday is the Central North Veterans Golf Association Open day at Quirindi RSL Golf Club. Please remember to keep your social distancing whilst on the course. Cheers everyone and stay safe. 04.01.2022 Faith and Shane from Up and Up are in Quirindi this week to paint ARTC commissioned murals on the railway pilons on the bike track. They were impressed with ou...r local indigenous community speaking, teaching and learning the Gomeroi language and reflected that in their art work. Yaama (hello) sits on a nest of sticks - Quirindi means nest in the hills, but also when ARTC built the bridge, storm waters brought a mass of sticks down the creek, which piled up to a great nest that had to be removed; the mural linking the past and the present. The story continues with the red wall designated to men‘s business, the yellow wall to women‘s business, the black wall to dream time and the blue wall to the waterways. Today, the talented artists will finish the red wall and start the yellow wall. Can‘t wait to see the finished product! Thank you to ARTC and Up and Up for this wonderful project, and to all the locals who helped with the design - the consultation process sounded like a lot of fun! If you‘re in Quirindi today and tomorrow, go have a look and a chat to Faith and Shane; they love interacting with the community!
