25.01.2022 We're delighted to announce a special free online event coming up on Wednesday 14 October. TV host Annabel Crabb and Further Back in Time for Dinner’s Carol Fer...rone will join Sydney Living Museums’ Jacqui Newling to discuss the 1910s - an eventful decade marked by patriotism, war, food shortages and a pandemic, and explored in episode 2 of Further Back in Time for Dinner on ABC TV + iview. Join them as they explore life on the home front, fundraising for the war effort and the rise of the ‘great picnic trade’ in Sydney. The conversation will take place around the kitchen table at Vaucluse House as your hosts prepare rolled oat biscuits, affectionately known as #Anzac biscuits, using a recipe from Sydney Living Museums’ collection. This free online event will be followed by a live Q&A hosted by Jacqui Newling and Carol Ferrone. For details and to register visit: slm.is/backintimefordinner

18.01.2022 Last week we brought you the news Chipping Norton Public School were celebrating their '100 Year Centenary' and today we can share some of the truly special ima...ges of students and teachers from the day! Year 6 student Cedar Jnaid said the celebrations allowed him to travel back in time and discover how his school was 100 years ago. "My favourite part of the day was playing traditional 1920's games on the grounds of William Long's Homestead," he said. "Our school is special because we have great teachers who provide lots of learning opportunities - they try and meet the needs of all students through extracurricular and extension activities. If you'd like to connect with past classmates and share treasured memories from your time at Chipping Norton you can visit Chipping Norton Public School's 100th Anniversary or learn more here: https://bit.ly/2J785Dl

15.01.2022 FREE EXHIBITION: RAY HELY AN ENGINEERS EYE LIVERPOOL 1971 - 1993 LIVERPOOL REGIONAL MUSEUM, NSW... Come visit us. Ray Hely (b 1930) was a Senior Civil Engineer employed by Liverpool City Council from 1971 to 1993. Ray was aware that Liverpool was rapidly changing, particularly the Central Business District and land released for subdivision and development. His photographic skills were recognised by Council with an initial request to photograph Liverpool City Council’s 1971 celebrations, which included the Festival of Progress. This informal commission grew into a rare and extensive photographic archive, films and industrial heritage artefacts, which he salvaged from Liverpool Powerhouse, now Casula Powerhouse Arts Centre. They are the official, unofficial and unseen Liverpool - spanning over two decades into the 1990’s. Look back, consider progress and reflect on today with 2020 vision through rear lens of An Engineer’s Eye.
