24.01.2022 Congratulations to our Nurture trainees, who today graduated with a Certificate 1 in Conservation and Land Management after completing a 20 week training program at our Logan House site. The trainees upcycled disused rainwater tanks into garden beds, learning about sustainable farming practices along the way. They're now ready to start planting a crop of herbs and vegetables. Thanks to the Queensland Mental Health Commission for funding this project and our training partner, DGT Employment & Training Three of the trainees have already secured work!

19.01.2022 It's National NAIDOC Week! The theme this year is Always Was, Always Will Be, which recognises that First Nations people have occupied and cared for this continent for over 65,000 years. Our teams are taking some time to mark this important week, like the Toowoomba team who joined a local NAIDOC march this morning, culminating with a flag raising at the Council Village Green (see image below).... #NAIDOC2020

14.01.2022 We believe that with the right support, people can change their lives. A new series on SBS, Addicted Australia, is working to change community attitudes towards addiction. Here's an interesting article from the show's campaign about how shame and stigma prevent people from seeking support. #RethinkAddiction #AddictedSBS

11.01.2022 Congratulations to our Lighthouse program on their one-year anniversary! Lighthouse is a youth program on the Gold Coast that focuses on addressing complex trauma. Today's celebrations gave our Executive team an opportunity to thank the staff and meet some of the young people and their families who access this program....

11.01.2022 Mae and Marc from our Toowoomba team recently sat down with Headspace Toowoomba to discuss tips on cutting back on alcohol and other drugs.

08.01.2022 Today we were delighted to welcome representatives from COORDINARE to our new Nana Muru service in Nowra. Our CEO, Mitchell Giles and the team showed the PHN staff through and talked about the community response to the new service over a cuppa. We are grateful to Coordinare - South Eastern NSW PHN for funding this new service, which provides free support for drug and alcohol problems to people 18 and over. Supports include detox, day rehab and relapse prevention. Our counsellors travel to communities including Jervis Bay, St Georges Basin and Sanctuary Point. To see if this service is right for you, give the Nana Muru team a call on 02 6362 5337 or visit https://www.liveslivedwell.org.au/our-services/nsw/

03.01.2022 Addiction touches all Australians as you will see tonight, when the first episode of Addicted Australia goes to air on SBS at 8:30pm (AEST). This new four-part series, produced by the highly esteemed Blackfella Films, follows 10 people, as well as their clinicians, peer support workers, families and friends, as they undertake a six month treatment program. The show highlights that treatment is available and that there are several models of care that can meet a person’s need. #RethinkAddiction #AddictedSBS
