22.01.2022 Our children need yoga. - https://mailchi.mp//3-ways-anxiety-is-leaving-you-bankrupt

22.01.2022 Asana for Pitta. Pitta is hot, acidic, and competitive. It requires cooling and is best served by asanas such as shoulder stand, bow, plough, cobra, and fish. Postures that gently massage the liver and spleen are recommended to eliminate excess Pitta from the digestive system. Pitta must be aware of its competitive nature and focus on pulling back and focussing within. Want to know more? Ask us how.

21.01.2022 Have you struggled to find an answer to your health issue? Have you exhausted all of your options, and feel like allopathic medicine has nothing left to offer you? 19.01.2022 Cultivating Sattva takes commitment and discipline, but it isnt necessarily difficult. Small daily habits such as pranayama, meditation, conscious exercise, and a nourishing diet all induce clarity and balance. Continually engaging in these habits will bring you closer to your true self and promote optimal health and wellbeing.

16.01.2022 Asana for Vata. Vata is cool and dry and requires calming and warming asana. Vata can also be scattered and ungrounded. Seated postures increase stability and promote calm. Although Vata is highly creative and enjoys a fun and dynamic flow, it is best served by postures that restrict action and promote tranquillity. Spend more time in Savasana to reduce the accumulation of Vata throughout the practice. Want to know more? Ask us how.

16.01.2022 The six kriyas are Yogic cleansing techniques which remove toxins from the body, enabling the purification of body and mind. The kriyas include Kapalabhati, Neti, Dhouti, Nauli, Trataka, and Basti and while some of these are very advanced, others can be safely performed at home. We recommend starting with Kapalabhati, a type of pranayama involving deep inhalations followed by forceful exhalations using rapid, strong abdominal contractions. This breath isnt for everyone, so if you are pregnant, unwell, or suffering from any respiratory symptoms please consult with your health care professional prior to giving it a try.

16.01.2022 Not convinced that an integrated approach is possible? Did you know that Ayurveda and allopathic medicine share several underlying philosophies? Both acknowledge the role inflammation plays in disease. Both recommend a balanced diet consisting of whole grains, lean protein, fruit, vegetables, seeds, and nuts. Both believe exercise is essential to vital health. And both are based on the self-healing mechanisms of the body and mind (homeostasis). They have so much in common! However, Ayurveda treats the person while allopathic medicine treats the disease. They both have their place in health and healing and should be integrated to promote true wellbeing.

15.01.2022 Asana for Kapha. Kapha is cool and prone to sluggishness. It needs stimulation and movement. Active asana promotes circulation is recommended, including vigorous sun salutations. During slower movements and static asana, Kapha must breathe deeply to keep internal energy moving during the practice. Want to know more? Ask us how.

15.01.2022 With the ultimate goal in mind, both Yoga and Ayurveda work towards healing and transformation. The deep, unforced, and lasting transformation which helps us to live our lives in harmony with the laws of nature; moving through the Maha Gunas as we make our way from Tamas (darkness), through Rajas (passion), and towards Sattva (goodness). This is accomplished through diet, self-care techniques, spiritual practices, and asana.

12.01.2022 When many people think of Yoga, they imagine poses or asanas. While there is SO much more to Yoga, the asanas form part of the physical practice and are hugely beneficial. Practised regularly, they improve flexibility, build strength, protect joints, strengthen the spine, enhance blood flow and bone health, regulate adrenal glands, and promote physical and mental health. But did you know that some asana are more suited to different doshas?

11.01.2022 Little by little, little becomes a lot. Your consistent, regular habits and actions are building your life.

09.01.2022 Many of us are continuing to work and study from home, a new normal which may linger for some time to come. While working from home has benefits (saving commute time and getting on top of the housework between meetings), it can disrupt our regular routine. Dinacharya is an Ayurvedic principle; the honouring of and syncing with the natural rhythms of nature. Waking when the sun rises, moving through the day with the natural ebb and flow of energies, resting when the sun goes ...down, and adjusting with seasonal changes. Maintaining a ROUTINE which syncs with nature and establishes balance in our mind and body. Having a regular daily routine improves sleep and wake patterns, digestion, energy levels, and so on. A common misconception is that a routine will be stifling or boring, taking away spontaneity. However, a balanced daily routine actually improves your health and energy levels, balancing the mind and body and giving you more freedom to enjoy life.

09.01.2022 My World Yoga Day article featuring Yoga Day Festival is out in this months Aust YogaLife - available online <3 "Socially Distanced & More Unified than Ever World Yoga Day 2020: Yoga Day Festival Online... In the early stages of lockdown, we watched Mother Earth take a deep inhale, as she flourished with clean air and waters while the world took a break from its usual daily operations. Then heartbreak set in as we bared witness to businesses small and large being forced to close down, and lives being devastatingly affected or lost due to covid19. 2020 has brought us challenges and heartbreak. But with these impossible material circumstances, weve been given an opportunity to question life as we know it. Why is there so much suffering in this world? And, where can I find lasting happiness? How can I build resilience so that I can tolerate the ups and downs of life? The real question is, how to find that place inside of us where we can be in the world, but not of the world. This became the guiding theme of Yoga Day Festival 2020 a 6 hour long live virtual experience, designed to help you build inner resilience and happiness." You can view the festival here: https://www.facebook.com/839013759525528/videos/882632035571110

09.01.2022 In Sanskrit, Ayurveda means The Science of Life. It stems from ancient teachings which originated in India over 5,000 years ago principles which have influenced many other systems of healing. It has truly stood the test of time and continues to be practiced throughout the world today. We pass on the teachings of this sacred system, relating them to the modern Western world. Our programs simplify the principles without diminishing the lessons so you can easily apply them in your daily life.

08.01.2022 Yoga is less about building a flexible body, and more about creating a flexible mind.

07.01.2022 What an honor to open this inspiring event with Ayurvedic leaders that Ive looked up to since I discovered Ayurveda when I was 19. Amadeas classic book was my first Ayurvedic cookbook, which helped me heal my Eating Disorder and chronic Vata imbalance; Rama was the reason I bought Wellbeing magazine each month- to read his insightful articles; and Lesley, who Ive had the pleasure of coming to know over the past few years, is the absolute monarch of Ayurveda for time master...y, productivity, and quality of life (for those that know me, this is my jam when it comes to health). Join us Thursday 10th September as we go beyond the Doshas and get clear on the philosophy and principles of Ayurveda so you can really use it to feel better in your life. For bookings & more info: https://www.tinyhouseayurveda.com/make-sense-of-today Hope to see you there!

05.01.2022 What makes Ayurveda the perfect accompaniment to yoga? Both recognise that there are TWO energies at play within the material realm: 1. Spirit the subtle energy of the soul, which emanates from the energy of the supreme; and 2. Matter gross physical energy which is made up of the five elements.... Yoga and Ayurveda both strive to serve the needs of mind, body, and spirit. When we practice both systems in unison, we care for our mental, physical, and spiritual health. Ayurveda is truly the perfect healthcare system for Yogis.

05.01.2022 Our intention for the weekend to slow down and enjoy the simple pleasures.

05.01.2022 Ayurveda has recognised the benefits of Dinacharya for over 5,000 years. Modern science has caught up over the last several decades, with studies into circadian rhythms (natural biological functions within the body which occur over a 24-hour period) demonstrating the impacts of routines on our health. Irregular sleep and work hours, lack of time in nature, and too much exposure to artificial lighting can disrupt cellular functioning. Simple daily routines and self-care habits provide a foundation for a balance in the mind and body, optimal health, increased stamina, and a consistently grounded and peaceful life.

05.01.2022 Living a thoughtful, grounded life requires us to use intelligence to discern what is right and/or the best course of action on a moment to moment basis. Things are very seldom black or white, and most often require us to consider time, place and circumstances. This is true of relationships, workplaces, health and fitness, diet, and more. Observing, considering, and deciding takes effort and some level of understanding. It takes practice. It takes a level of commitment and ...Continue reading

04.01.2022 This popped up in my @facebook memories today. And even with the challenges were facing today... its still relevant. - Ive noticed that when I find myself nitpicking or professionally cranky (meaning Im not happy at work and start getting critical of everything and everyone) its because Im scared and holding back. - One thing I learned at our Gamechangers retreat last week was this:... You can have resentment, or You can have results. When you know inside of you that there is a need for what you have to offer; When youre being guided internally to act; When you have everything you need to be of service; ... and you do nothing with it... Resentment, frustration and self-sabotage often manifest. On the flip side, if you have all those things and you choose to act, results magically start happening. So you can have resentment or you can have results. The choice is yours. Which outcome are you choosing today? Sami xo - livetoserve.com.au

04.01.2022 If you are undertaking a spring cleanse, its important to support your agni or digestive fire. This is important, because poor agni will result in poor digestion and absorption, and a build-up of toxins quite quickly. Techniques including regular mealtimes, dietary bitters, and movement can all strengthen agni. Additionally, herbal remedies and doshic specific foods can also be used therapeutically. Reach out to our friendly team to find out what YOUR body needs.

02.01.2022 So many of us have strong beliefs around healthcare. These beliefs are based on our education, experiences, and a whole host of other individual circumstances which make us unique. Often, we strongly defend our beliefs clinging to them and refusing to consider alternatives. But what if you took the time to consider another point of view? The answers you are looking for might reveal themselves.

02.01.2022 Incorporating Dinacharya into your life can be simple. Waking at the same time each day and commencing your morning with a few moments of awareness is a wonderful start. Ayurvedic techniques such as tongue scraping, neti, skin brushing, abhyanga, and pranayama can be introduced to your morning routine to promote improved energy flow through the mind and body. Eating lunch at a regular time and sitting down for dinner each night are other great ways to build a daily routine. For more ideas, or to learn more about Dinacharya, contact our friendly team.

01.01.2022 Yoga and Ayurveda help us to refine our senses and develop self-awareness. 01.01.2022 Spring has arrived in the southern hemisphere, and with the longer days and warmer temperatures we are intuitively starting to crave lightness and movement. It is a great time to eat a cleansing diet to burn off winter and any excess kapha. You dont have to go crazy (in fact, we recommend that you cleanse gently and listen to your body). Small changes like eating more bitter foods, moving and twisting your body daily, and addressing your environment (toxic chemicals, unhealthy habits, and even negative people) can make a big difference. If you are struggling with a health issue, or want more personalised support through your cleanse, reach out. We have an experienced Ayurvedic Doctor, Ayurvedic Nutritionist and Coach, Western Naturopaths, and Movement Specialists on our team who can guide you through your spring cleanse.

01.01.2022 Whether you think you can, or think you cant; either way, you are right.
