08.01.2022 We are a collective of organisations (tagged) with a shared understanding that growing edible food can be a force for good in society. We share a commitment to ...support the expansion of all forms of edible food growing in Australian towns and cities, and for that reason are collaborating to organise the 3rd national Urban Agriculture Forum (www.uaf.org.au). In support of that commitment, we are interested in understanding the extent to which the COVID19 restrictions and their legacy have impacted the attitude and actions of community members towards edible food growing. Find out more and have your say now: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/foodgrowing If you have any questions, contact Georgia Karavis, Sustain Communications Coordinator - [email protected] We also ask that you share this survey with friends and colleagues as well as community garden / school garden groups and other local food networks. 07.01.2022 Ecofest 2021: seeing a positive future "a 2021 vision" is fast approaching and we are excited to once again bring you a fantastic selection of stallholders with... information about how you can tread lightly and live a more sustainable life (and death)! We will begin to introduce our stallholders in the coming days so keep an eye out for your favourites and maybe some new kids on the block! With just a gold coin for entry and a full program of musical entertainment and delicious food ecofest is a great day out and we look forward to seeing you on April 10 at the Wharf, Ulverstone. You will notice some changes to the festival this year as we navigate a Covid-safe experience for all, such as reduced stall numbers and absence of our workshops and presentations, however we expect to return to full event capacity in 2022. This years theme Seeing a Positive Future - a 2021 vision, aims to inspire us all to look beyond the present to how we can create a positive future especially here on the North West Coast.
07.01.2022 We celebrate long term Live Well Tasmania volunteer Tania Brookes who was recently awarded the Diamond of Devonport Award on International Women's Day for her extraordinary service to the community. Well done Tania and congratulations! Tania is a tireless volunteer for Live Well Tasmania who goes above and beyond for people in Devonport and surrounds. She is passionate about empowering girls and women, in terms of encouraging skill development particularly in self-sufficien...cy and self-reliance, to help women regain control of their lives. Tania single handedly manages the Community Exchange Network Tasmania (CENTs) project as a volunteer, which has been very successful in reducing social isolation, increasing community connectedness, and building self-esteem by increasing practical skills, intrapersonal skills and interpersonal skills. Tania also assists with Live Well Tasmania projects aimed to improve mental health for which a lot of extra support is needed in the current COVID climate. She consistently has very innovative ideas about projects that will help our communities, including the creative use of social media in particular to reach disadvantaged people. Live Well Tasmania has a focus on improving health and wellbeing for which Tania contributes above and beyond her volunteer role as Project Manager for Live Well Tasmania. Tania has championed the establishment of two Seed Banks for the northwest coast located at community venues to provide free seed to people wishing to grow their own food and to try their hand at gardening. She is particularly keen on the use of social enterprise to empower both men and women but particularly women, and has already committed many hours to progress multiple social enterprise initiatives. 04.01.2022 Young people are telling us that they are worried about the future - including the impact of COVID-19 - and they want to talk about how we can build a better Ta...smania. We listened. Helping young people have a voice on the issues that matter to them is what YNOT is all about. So thats what well do at the Tasmanian Youth Forum (TYF): talk about how to build a better Tasmania after COVID through education and training, work, mental health and whatever else you think is important! But what is most important is that young people help us design TYF. The content, activities and topics we discuss need to be driven by young people like YOU! Plus, you will also receive up to $100 in online vouchers of your choice! YNOT is looking for six young Tasmanians aged 12-25 to share ideas and give feedback on a youth-led focus group. To be part of this, youll need to commit to attending four, one-hour online meetings (two in September, two in October). And youll get $50 online voucher of your choice each month. No experience needed. Just passion. Ideas. And you. Interested? Apply now! https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/TYF2020FocusGroup Applications close on Sunday 30 August 2020. If you have any questions contact Jo at [email protected] or visit our website. https://www.ynot.org.au/tasmanian-youth-forum-2020 #TYF2020

02.01.2022 Dear Tasmania, 2020 has been a rough year, but we have shown that we can adapt and endure, that we are strong and resilient. We still have a way to go, but th...is year we have truly shown that 'we all have a role to play' in supporting our own mental health and that of our family and friends whether they are close by, interstate or over seas. If we continue to check in with ourselves and our community we can get through this together. So let us come together and celebrate Mental Health Week. To read a letter to all Tasmanians from our CEO, head to https://mhct.org/mentalhealt/dear-fellow-tasmanians-letter/
