24.01.2022 Attention all Studio Potters in Australia Christmas is just around the corner - so it's time to start thinking about how best to kick start 2020. Why not join us at the new and unique Claymaker's Expo scheduled to help you do just that. The Expo is designed to promote both an opportunity for individual potters to promote their work and as an educational event for customers via workshops and demonstrations. In addition we are planning a special trade day for chefs, restaura...teurs and cafe owners interested in finding a point of difference for their venue. For this, our inaugural event, we are working collaboratively with the hugely popular, quarterly Artisans Market run by the Coal Loader Sustainability Centre in Waverton who have established a highly regarded craft market which exclusively promotes Australian domiciled talent. This will ensure a good roll up from their loyal and discerning customers plus of course the new customers we attract for this new venture. Contact us now for all the details and an application form at @[email protected] or call us on 1300 397339. See more

20.01.2022 We are thrilled to announce an exciting new event to put into your diary for Sydney in the ceramics calendar. The inaugural Claymakers Expo will be held in Sydney in conjunction with the well established and very successful Coal Loader Artisans Market, in the atmospheric and historic, sandstone lined tunnels below the Sustainability Centre in Waverton. It opens on Friday 21st February for 2.5 days and incorporates the regular, quarterly Artisans Market on Sunday 23rd Febr...uary. The Expo will feature 25 leading Australian potters, each with their own unique, sandstone lined chamber, as well as a workshop room featuring talks and demonstrations from the experts themselves on different aspects of the ceramics process including hand building, turning, firing and glazing. In addition there will be a special in situ tableware display featuring the unique work of some of our leading handmade tableware specialists. All pots and sculptures on display will be available for purchase. This is a unique, exciting event and a business opportunity for potters producing both functional and sculptural work. We will aim for good representation of both. Watch this space for more information over coming months!! Interested potters should contact us at [email protected] for further information
19.01.2022 It was great to see Bronwyn Clarke yesterday at Coal Loader market. Here she is standing behind some of her work on our stall table just before she headed off. She came for 2 hours but stayed almost the whole day catching up on many of her friends and colleagues from her days at North Sydney Council.as well as talking to a number of potential customers. Now living in Deep Bay, Tasmania, Bronwyn tells me she loves her new life of ceramics and sailing while busily managing the 2019 Australian Ceramics Triennale along with her committee. Thanks for taking the time out to join us Bronwyn, we look forward to catching up soon. @bronwynclarkeceramics
16.01.2022 I love this simple photo. The clay "vase" by Bronwyn Clarke is actually a beaker and ideal for people who like a large cup of tea or coffee, but it is so elegant it also doubles as a small vase. We will have some of these with us at Coal Loader market on Sunday 26th, they are currently reduced by 30% to $32 each along with most of our stock in our annual Winter Sale at https://www.livingclayaustralia.com.au/mugs-an/tall-beakers - and a really great buy. You can also buy ...them online quickly and simply in our secure payment environment and we will deliver them to you within 5 business days anywhere in Australia. We can also deliver overseas - but it may take just a little longer. We are hoping that Bronwyn will call in to visit our stall on Sunday between approximately 10.30am and 12.30am so if you would like to meet the maker and review some of her other beautiful pots that we will have on display, then be sure to come along during that time. Hope to see you there - it's a great day out with some high quality craft stalls featuring jewellery, art, ceramics, leatherwork, unique fashion and much more from Australian makers, a great coffee shop and wonderful views of the harbour from the lawns. 16.01.2022 Number 2 in our series "Art is Function, Function is Art" A Storage Jar with Attitude!! This is a scrumptious salt glazed, wood fired tea caddy with attitude! It feels substantial, looks earthy and natural and is very practical, thanks to Sandy Lockwood's expert turning, glazing and firing. It's an item you will use and treasure for many years to come, and one of the family items your children will fight over. We call it a tea caddy, but it could be used to store any number... of daily kitchen commodities - such as coffee, sugar, biscuits or condiments, In fact a collection of three or four of these would look great in the kitchen. But suggest you start with just one to use and enjoy every single day. This quirky caddy has been created by Sandy in her Balmoral pottery, with lots of hard work, love, humour and skill. It is available as photographed but also comes in a delicious smokey blue. It is very sturdy, food safe and dishwasher proof - but please be careful not to expose it to thermal shock This is one of my favourite pieces in our range It's a wonderful example of wood firing at its very best, which Sandy is renowned for, and as such is also a collectors item as a piece of ceramic art with purpose. You can buy it online at: https://www.livingclayaustralia.com.au//woodfired-salt-gla Exquisite pot by @slockwood737 Beautiful image by Greg Piper @blinkneye See more

14.01.2022 Well at long last we finally have the program and key arrangements for this exciting new event done. Claymaker's is here and the inaugural event will be held in Sydney over 4 days from February 21st to the 24th. Details about the program, logistics, eligibility and pricing are now available along with the application form for Australian potters to join us at the Coal Loader Centre for Sustainability in Waverton. Claymaker's will run in tandem with the very successful q...uarterly Coal Loader Artisan Market which happens on Sunday 23rd February Included in the program is a special "trade day" on Monday 24th for chefs, restauranteurs and cafe owners who will personally be invited to attend. All potters working and practising in Australia with excellent skills and style are eligible to participate. But because we have limited space (only 25 chambers are available), applications will be assessed on the basis of quality and style of work and then strictly in order of receipt of completed application form. For your copy of exhibitor/seller details and the form please contact us at [email protected] now. See more

11.01.2022 It's 5pm on a dreary Monday afternoon - must be time to make a nice refreshing cup of tea in one of Hilary Jones's great hand made teapots.!! This is one of her Japanese influenced "sidewinder" teapots which are so much easier and quicker to use than the more traditional ones. This one comes with two matching tea bowls for just $126.00 reduced from $180.00. Don't miss this opportunity. - They are all back to normal prices next week. Now I am off t have that cup of tea! 03.01.2022 No 5 in our "Art is Function: Function is Art" Series If ever there was a candidate for our "Function is Art" series this is it. Created by Sandy Gordon this platter is a stunning example of superb craftsmanship and elegant design. Each one is different but has the basic elements of exposed white porcelain and celadon glaze which elegantly enhances any food you arrange on the platter, it is particularly useful as a cheese platter, or for tapas and canapes. It is one of ...those pieces you keep for those special occasions with family and friends throughout the year. It's precious and unique and deserves some special care so hand wash only in warm soapy water, then dry with a clean dry cloth. We recommend that this piece should not go into the dishwasher or microwave. This is available for sale on our website at www.livingclayaustralia.com.au/platters/celadon-long-platter platter by @sallygordonceramics image by @blinkneye See more
