25.01.2022 Living Farm staff have seen many sunrises over the last month... aren't they lucky We've had some great photos sent back to the office from the field this seeding, including; pristine sowing of trials, spectacular sunrises and sunsets and the helping hand we get from growers when the rain hasn't quite arrived yet.

24.01.2022 Living Farm's horticulture division has been out harvesting potatoes from trials planted back in the heat of March. Did you know potatoes are the second highest value vegetable crop in Western Australia after carrots, with a farm gate value of around $54 million! That's a lot of mash. #livingfarm #livingfarmhorticulture #vegetables #waharvest2019

24.01.2022 When Thursday’s look like this... : Andrew Wherrett

23.01.2022 For a while there it looked like we might have to leave it there until October and drive it out... but with the help of three snatch straps it popped out just fine. Unfortunately it looks like we might have to look at other options for York District High School and their agricultural program this year.

22.01.2022 This trial was looking at the effect of phosphorous on various cultivars on highly P deficient soils during the 2018 season. We're looking forward to getting back into it for #seedingwa2019 and sharing more of our amazing trials with you. #whenwillitbethatgreenagain #LivingFarmtrials

22.01.2022 Early season frost at the DPIRD Dale frost site. With eight times of sowing from March to June, and a range of varieties, some of these early frosts are likely to contribute to frost damage later in the season. Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development - DPIRD DPIRD Wheatbelt Grains Research and Development Corporation... : Bec Smith

21.01.2022 A lot of you will recognise someone in this picture! Living Farms resident frost expert Rebecca and her husband Adam share their decision making process on moving their program to be wheat free in 2019.

20.01.2022 This one took a bit to get out of the ground... then we saw why! Paddy melons showing why they survive through rainless summers in WA's northern wheatbelt.

20.01.2022 Our very own Alex Davies is currently in Canberra attending the Grain Producers Australia Leadership Forum thanks to Western Australian Farmers Federation (WAFarmers) Inc. Looking forward to hearing the outcomes of discussions!

20.01.2022 Tony Murfit of Warakirri Cropping doesn’t mind pushing boundaries. Pictured are lentils sown in early May, emerging at Muntadgin after only 10-15mls of rain in early April.

18.01.2022 Living Farm is again supporting York District High School and planting grain variety trials for the science classes in 2019... well we were! Things have gotten off to a boggy start with our preparatory work ending like this... Over 100ml has fallen this month in York and things are pretty soggy underfoot and underwheel. ... When we finally get it out we’ll let you know, but at this rate it’ll be blackboard sessions only for the students! : Andrew Wherrett

18.01.2022 NVT 2019: And so it begins! Treating and packing of seed for the 2019 NVT trials program across Western Australia. We will keep you posted on trials as they are sown as well as throughout the season.

17.01.2022 Summer is not messing around here in the west! Plots are coming off quickly though with four Haldrup headers working on a site. Haldrup GmbH #bestimeofthedaytoharvest #livingfarmharvest2019

15.01.2022 And then there were four... We’ve just added the latest C-85 Haldrup to our fleet. It’s been great to see how these headers have evolved over the years and great to catch up with our mates at Haldrup GmbH.

14.01.2022 What spectacular sunsets the seeding teams at Living Farm enjoyed last week from across the state. We've got everything crossed the rain spreads far and wide this week for all of our growers in WA! #LFseeding2020 #LivingFarm #Autumnsunsets

14.01.2022 Last years initial heritage wheat bulk up with Loafers Artisan is back in an even bigger way. A range of early wheat varieties have been selected and we’re excited to see the results once harvested, milled and put into baking trials.

12.01.2022 Did you know Living Farm conduct a wide variety of horticultural research projects across our state? Here we are assessing olives prior to harvest for one of our more unusual crop protection trials. #LivingFarmtrials

10.01.2022 With only pockets of summer rainfall in the Central wheatbelt it’s hard to believe scenes like these were so common in 2018. Makes you wonder what 2019 will deliver...

10.01.2022 The early bird catches the worm. Blue skies and chilly mornings are back after the lovely rainy weather of this week. We hope everyone saw some rain around the state in the last three days. ... #LFseeding2020

08.01.2022 What a way to start the day Early morning Soil Sampling at Miling.

04.01.2022 How great to see some green in a paddock! More Living Farm managed residue studies, this time on artichokes. Did you know artichokes are part of the thistle family and were domesticated in ancient times? The edible part consists of the fleshy lower portion of the involucral bracts and base and is known as the heart.

02.01.2022 Living Farms Andrew Wherrett sent this great pic from one of our crop protection trials recently. Olive harvest is now underway across our state. Some of our staff enjoy a little amateur olive oil producing and report it has been a tough season for olive growers with our dry summer causing lower crop yields. We wish olive growers all the best for a successful harvest for 2019! #horticulturaltrials #agriculturalresearch #olives
