22.01.2022 Today marks 150 years since we first opened our doors to care for sick children. Although this isnt how we imagined celebrating with our community, we couldnt... let this milestone go unnoticed. The RCH has grown from humble beginnings to become one of the worlds great paediatric hospitals, caring for millions of children and their families throughout our history. But today isnt just a celebration for the RCH, its a celebration for everyone. To every child and young person who has walked through our hospital doors, to every family, to our generous community in Victoria and beyond who support us each year, and to our exceptional staff and campus partners who allow us to deliver great care, thank you for being part of our journey over the past 150 years. Join us in acknowledging this special milestone and share your favourite RCH memory in the comments below!

16.01.2022 In June 2020, federal Education Minister Dan Tehan announced his intention to dramatically increase the cost of Humanities degrees at Australian universities. ...His plan was to steer students away from areas like history which he claimed did not lead to employment and towards degrees which would make them job-ready. Many historians have rejected these claims arguing that degrees in the arts are essential to future workplaces, equipping graduates with highly valuable skills and dispositions. Please join the The University of Newcastle, Australia, University of Sydney and University of New England, AU for an exciting online #historyweek2020 event - entitled A History Degree: What is it good for? on September 10 @ 6:30 pm! In this session, a series of concerned speakers with an interest in history students, graduates and employers will explore the value of studying history, showing that historians bring highly valued critical skills, civic literacy and clear communication to a wide range of workplaces. This is a free and online event. Visit t- A History Degree: What is it good for? or head to our #historyweek2020 Events Calendar for more information & to join in! #historyweek2020
