15.01.2022 Tell me if you can relate??? I remember taking this pic as I was about to head to the beach and feeling disgusted in myself. I didn't want people to see me in a bikini. I wasn't at my leanest, I had less muscle then before So as a trainer I felt like a fraud Negative body image is something I delt with for over a decade, striving for the perfectly ripped body since i was 13. For years these negative emotions stole my joy! Now I look back at my photos that I've never shared... and think far out I look good. Unfortunately with social media warping reality and portraying perfection I speak women on a daily who self harm with compulsive binge eating related to body image. A huge part of any body transformation journey is dealing with this issue. You can have the best coach, food plan, and training structure in the world but if you don't learn to over come a unhealthy relationship with food and body image you will never get results and be happy Only when I truely started to value my health over the way I looked did these issues fade away The biggest change was after summer was born & my priorities shifted. I no longer counted calories or tracked macros, I ate intuitively with the purpose of creating nourishing milk that would build healthy cells in my babies body. I didn't read fat/carbs on labels, I looked for no additives. My motivation to train shifted from being shredded to being as healthy as possible And over time incredibly my self worth was no longer attached to how I looked! Not only was I the happiest I've ever been but I also started to look the best I ever had without the struggle I faced in the past. And although I still have my moments, I no longer struggle with feeling of guilt or self sabotage with food. My advice is to Know your worth, embrace what makes you unique, realise that everyone is imperfect and these perfect images that you see on social media are manipulated by posing, lighting and editing. Find value in yourself. I found self love in being a good mum and that changed my life.

13.01.2022 One big mistakes I made in fitness that you might be making to. . . Look as I shared in my story I've made a lot of mistakes on my journey, but there's one that nearly everyone makes when they first start in the gym.... . I would walk in the gym and think, hmm what am I going to train today? A little cardio, a few reps here and there . I had no plan, no strategy, no stracture . . You've heard it before but no plan is a plan to fail. When it comes to training it couldn't be truer. . When you start training, you need to decide on a clear outcome. Assess where you're at and create a training structure that is set up to with progressions to achieve that particular outcome. . Take in to account your goals, fitness level, training history, injuries, and movement patterns. . . A good structure should specify exercise, volume and intensity, clearly prescribing reps, sets, tempo and rest it should include primary exercises that are the focus of the program during that period. it should have measurable outcomes and appropriate progressions to avoid plateau. Learning and applying this, was a game-changer for me. It allowed me to do be more consistent and motivated as I saw constant progress in my strength. . My workouts were shorter and more efficient. I was able to stop wasting hrs doing all the fluff that just wasn't serving me. . . This was one of the main things that allowed me to start healing, finding balance and repairing my metabolism. . . After assessing a client I will always prescribe simple corrective stretches, movement and mobilisation exercises that need to be done prior to a workout. ... Tight and or overactive muscles will be favoured by the the nervous system which will lead to other muscles being restricted and inactive. This stems often from repetitive movement or faulty recruitment patterns in the nervous system. On top of that most people tend to do what there good at. Stretching the muscles that are already supple and training areas that are already strong but neglecting weaknesses and this leads to further imbalance within the body and eventually injury. By having your posture and movement patterns assessed you can developed a strategic stretching and training program that will allow you to correct posture and start recruiting inactive muscles, allowing you to have better technique and better growth of muscles. You can do all the booty exercises in the world but if your activation is poor because you have hypertonic adductors you will never get the results or growth that you want.
