24.01.2022 Friday funny......thanks to OT, Julia, for sharing.
24.01.2022 We welcomed a group of UniSA OT students (face-to-face and via zoom) as part of the Participatory Community Practice (PCP) program, which involves the completion of a project relating to their studies. Deb Harvey (Chief Clinical Lead) and Aleisha Zamperin (OT, pictured) presented a research topic regarding how best to overcome and manage the issues people experience as a result of pain. Specifically, we are looking for a student to investigate the latest evidence about work...ing with clients in pain. What can we be doing better? What messages and information is important to give our clients to help them manage their pain? There has been considerable student interest so we look forward to being involved and sharing the outcomes.
23.01.2022 This week's quote comes from Senior OT, Narelle Atkinson. Thanks Narelle.
23.01.2022 This week's quote comes from Senior OT, Katie. Thanks Katie.
23.01.2022 See the remarkable Olive, a long term client of Living to the Max. Olive will be 104 next month and, with the assistance of our very own Emily (OT), is still living at home on her own. Olive is the essence of what Occupational Therapy is all about - putting services, supports, aids and equipment in place to allow Olive to continue living at home. As you will see from the clip, there is no way Olive is going into a nursing home!! We could sit there all day and listen to Olive's stories.
19.01.2022 Did you catch our very own Tracie McInnes, Managing Director and Chief OT, on ABC Radio this morning? She spoke with ABC presenter, Ben Nielsen about National Pain Week to shine a light on local residents living in chronic pain and the impact of isolation on those with a disability during COVID-19. It's short and sweet but you can listen from 1:08:00 by following the link. https://www.abc.net.au//progr/breakfast/breakfast/12494742
18.01.2022 Just another day in the life of an OT............Sydney's day yesterday was full of some lovely visits with some great clients + their animals Sydney wanted to share their cuteness We have Leroy the Lab he is a PTSD assistance dog who is doing great things with his owner. Then we have Chicky the alpaca and 11-week-old baby Bonita (Bonnie) very fluffy and very cute. ... Sydney is angling for a therapy alpaca for the office.....we'll see Sydney!
17.01.2022 As a provider, we would fully support the introduction of a direct payment system and feel it would increase transparency and provide participants with more control over their funds. Ultimately, it would also provide additional funds for participants to use on services that genuinely add value. All too often healthcare services are eaten away by unnecessary administration costs.

15.01.2022 Listen to Living to the Max's Chief OT, Tracie McInnes, and OT, Alison Barrow, talk about the importance of preventative healthcare on ABC radio.
13.01.2022 This week's quote is from our receptionist, Ula.
13.01.2022 This week's quote is timely considering the Big Freeze fundraiser for MND is again upon us. Thank you to Director, Darren McInnes, for sharing. If you would like to support the cause, we have provided the link below too. I was taught the better side of my nature would emerge by being less self-centred, showing compassion, learning that being open and honest creates trust, that tolerance and acceptance of others is a way of showing respect, to seek fair outcomes, that life... isn’t easy and persistence and resilience are prerequisites for getting anything good done. 13.01.2022 And it certainly doesn't help when "independent assessors" have no experience working with people with a disability. You only have to see the list of approved assessors.....not to mention one of them who is being led by the former head of the NDIA.
09.01.2022 This week's quote is from our Chief Clinical Lead, Deb.
