25.01.2022 Next blog post is here! Lets look at eliminating the causes of inflammation. Today I talk about nutritional deficiencies and how we can change our diet to get what we need. Have you changed your diet? Notice any differences? https://www.livingwholistically.com.au/copy-of-causes-of-in

25.01.2022 Let's talk about dairy and an appreciation post. Dairy has been demonised, quite fairly and unfairly as well. Modern dairy producing has many flaws. Calves are taken from mums, cows are fed grain, the waste from their manure is a problem from having large herds and therefore large amounts of manure that lead to having effluent ponds, horrible for the environment. Aside from the problems at the farm level what we then do to the milk is horrible to! Milk from many farms mixed, ...the pasteurised, homogenised and processed in to products that are barely recognisable to traditional dairy products. It's no wonder dairy causes so many digestive upset for people as well as being linked to mucous production, ear and sinus infections. The problem is with what we do to the milk, not the milk itself (this goes for a lot of foods too). Fresh, raw milk from small herd single origin farms whose farmers only feed grass is a most nutritious and filling food, one that the majority of people would tolerate well. The processing of that milk only makes it more digestible and nutritious. Raw milk yoghurt, raw milk kefir, raw milk cheese, raw milk butter. So many wonderfully healthy dairy products.... that we legally can't sell in Australia. Its devastating that a degraded unhealthy product (modern milk and dairy products) can be legally sold but the wonderful, nutritious and traditional food is illegal. Luckily there are ways around this draconian law - raw milk can be found to buy for bathing (or raw goats milk is legal), making friends with a farmer with a house cow is always an option, and when it comes to cheese, raw milk cheese is legal, and even a protected local product, in Europe. Switzerland being one notable raw milk cheese producer. And this is the part of my post for appreciation. Fromart is an Aussie company that sources amazing quality Swiss cheese, including many raw milk traditionally made cheeses. I want to give a shout out to their wonderful products and excellent customer service! If you want to have dairy in your life but want it to love your body back and bot get any symptoms from eating it then source raw milk products wherever you can (and check out Fromart!). 24.01.2022 This little garden represents a lot. Growing your own food connects you with what you eat, with the earth and the cycles of life and death. It gives you a deeper appreciation for farmers; you find out how long it takes to grow things and how hard it can be. You experience the highs when things grow well and the lows when things die. Growing your own food also gives you access to the freshest, most vibrant and life giving version of that food available. Perennial herbs are on...e of the easiest plants to grow and most thrive on neglect. Yes you will still have failure but it is less likely! Having your own herb garden means you can add flavour to any dish as quickly as walking out your door. Plus these culinary herbs often double as medicinal herbs! I have oregano and thyme which make an awesome roast chook but also make a great tea to gargle or drink when you have a sore throat or cough. The mint makes awesome mint sauce for lamb or raita to go with a curry. It also can help relieve headaches when crushed and smelt or helps settle an upset tummy when drunk as a tea. So plant a herb garden and reap all the benefits - culinary, medicinally, spiritually and physically.

24.01.2022 Vitamin d levels naturally drop in winter as we get less sun. This is not a good thing and our ancestors knew they needed to include/increase foods that help with vitamin d synthesis and have vitamin d in them. Any animal fat is important to help you synthesis vitamin d but pork fat from pasture raised pigs who are in the sun all day has vitamin d in it. I get pork rind and make crackle to add to our plates to support healthy vitamin d levels over winter. I have also just fou...nd cod liver in my local organic shop... something different to try! Cod liver is a good source of vitamin d and if you can stand the thought of eating it or pork then supplementing with a good quality cod liver oil is the next best thing. This winter has also been quite mild so I have been getting in the sun when I can too... the last 5 days have been overcast and COLD so I have been having much more pork fat to make up for it! 23.01.2022 This is a wonderful campaign that I am donating to this week. Please join in if you can!

21.01.2022 Have a health question? Need some advice on supplementation? Come down to Blooms The Chemist Mudgee and have a chat. Im here until 12:30pm today.

20.01.2022 Whether you are pro, anti, ex, don't give a dam or anything in between vaxxer, can we all agree that it should be our choice whether we get vaccinated or not? Free choice is a foundation of human rights and is a freedom I will never willingly give up. Being coerced in to having vaccinations (to travel, or work, or attend education etc) is a breach of our freedoms, as surely as literally being forced, it's just slower. Help stand up for our rights. Let the government know that you do not agree with airlines requiring proof of vaccination to travel and show them they (and any other companies) will have a fight on their hands if they continue to take our freedoms. 19.01.2022 Do you have a child that has separation anxiety? This may manifest as not sleeping, refusing to be left with other adults (day care etc) or even constipation (refusal to 'let go'). NER is an amazing tool to help these kids process the emotions related to letting go and being cared for by others. Book your child in for an NER appointment with me today to get help with sleep and drop off time! It is also the last chance to book an NER appointment for tomorrow and receive your free bush flower essence blend to support your healing. I have 2 appointments left.

19.01.2022 Every day gives us the opportunity to learn, to grow, to change. When you know better you do better and what is better than feeling stronger, healthier and happier? But how do you know what is better? Paleo, vegan, raw, cooked, more exercise, less exercise, superfoods, low fat, high fat, quit sugar, along with all the other fads and diet beliefs. There is a lot of conflicting info out there and you need to sift through it. I can help with that and give you the info that is i...ndividually suited to your body and health needs. I only have a few appointments left this year so if youve been wanting to sort out your health before the end of the year take the opportunity now and get in contact! Go to www.livingwholistically.com.au/book-now OR Email me at [email protected]

18.01.2022 When you have zillions of lemons how do you preserve them? Sadly my lemon tree is yet to gift me with fruit. Luckily my wonderfully friend generously shares her trees bounty. I actually couldn't get through all of the lemons gifted to me before they were starting to soften. Here are some ways I preserve the lemon flavour; preserved lemons, lemon kefir, and freezing lemon juice. I love lemon flavour and it really picks up so many dishes! Some in broth is delicious to drink, I will never make a gravy without lemon juice, or even some lemon and honey in hot water, yum! Do you like lemons? How do you use them or preserve them?

18.01.2022 Thats a wrap! What an amazing weekend learning such a fantastic technique! Watch this space for an explanation how NER can help you on your health journey with me.

18.01.2022 Food prep time. I focus our food choice on food made from whole fresh ingredients. That means a lot more time in the kitchen. Theres no way around that part but there are ways to make it easier. Plus it is so worth it for feeling strong and healthy! Ways to make real food eating easier are: 1) Get the right equipment: a sharp knife, a wooden chopping board, and a food processor (I have a thermomix I bought second hand). It makes time in the kitchen more pleasurable and eas...ier. 2) Cook for the whole family. Do not make separate meals for different family members (I.e. the kids!). Find meals that everyone loves and get really good at making them. This makes it quicker and easier plus also takes the stress out of cooking new recipes or thinking of whats for dinner. 3) Get organised for the week ahead. Choose 1 or 2 days a week that you can spend an hour or two in the kitchen doing some bulk cooking to make things easier for when you dont have time. I made all of this plus some dough thats in the fridge in less than an hr. I will then spend another hr tomorrow finishing off some things I started today. Weve got bickies (not an every week treat), boiled eggs to make quick meals, meatballs (bake them to make it easier than standing over a frypan), nuts soaking to then roast to add to salads, make nut butter, or add to lunch boxes and lentils soaking to be cooked in to dal to be stuffed in the aforementioned dough and cooked; stuffed naan bread is then frozen and my hubby loves it fried up for quick breakfasts.

17.01.2022 Great video showing how a breastfeed works.

16.01.2022 Just spent the most amazing weekend at Root and Branch. I cant explain in words how much it has meant to me to connect with and learn from some amazing women (and man) in our traditional herbal community. The passing on of our forbears wisdom and knowledge (yes they are different things), along with the connections I now have face to face, spirit to spirit with some truly beautiful, unique and amazing people means the absolute world to me professionally and personally. Thank... you Sandy and Peter for this opportunity. Thank you Kira, Sally, Lis, Peter, Jacquie and the other speakers that I didnt get to see but spoke with over the weekend, you are absolutely fantastic! 16.01.2022 Abundance! Giving drying herbs a go as my herb garden had become over grown.

16.01.2022 Blog post Monday :D Here is the next installment in the cause of disease series I am doing for you. Today we are looking at the drivers of inflammation. How many of these factors do you have in your life? Where any a surprise to you? https://www.livingwholistically.com.au/causes-of-inflammati

15.01.2022 Another perfectly written piece on the dangers of our current thinking around germs.

14.01.2022 Lucky me gets to live in the beautiful fresh air of rural Australia. In saying that I still work in a town and in a shop that contains plastics, personal care products that have toxic chemicals and my home has synthetic carpets etc. We are all bombarded each day by toxic chemicals. I find there are three ways we can look at this; 1) stuff it! Its too hard and I will just not bother trying to do better, 2) I have to get rid of all the chemicals!!! Freak out and get anxiety wh...en someone comes near me with plastic and synthetic perfume OR 3) Yup the world can be a bit of a toxic soup but I will do my best to minimise my contribution and my contact with as many toxins as possible and let go of what I have no control of. Of course its obvious number 3 is the best mentality to have. We can always do better by people and planet and our choices, no matter how small and insignificant they seem, will always have a positive (or negative) impact on our health and the planets health. So avoid buying plastic, dont use personal care or cleaning products that use synthetic fragrances and toxic chemicals AND grab some good looking house plants to help with any chemicals you may still have in your house ;) https://www.1millionwomen.com.au//top-ten-native-plants-/

14.01.2022 Exciting new addition to my library I love books and learning so often have to rein myself in from buying all the books! But these two come highly recommended so I had to get them! I love that I have the tools to help people overcome these common infections naturally. Pharmaceutical drugs save lives of course but often the side effects are horrible! Using natural remedies with no side effects is always my first port of call before getting a script as I prefer to leave the ...Doctors appointments for more serious cases and not block up the system. It can also be really hard to get in to see a Dr (especially in my area!). Myself and my family have not had to visit a Dr in many years even through cases of gastro, colds and various viruses. If you are sick then I can help! Book an appointment for a herbal remedy to get you through the flu, gastro and many other bacterial and viral infections. I offer cheaper and shorter acute consultations for this reason. Email me [email protected] for more info. See more

14.01.2022 Great post by my friend and colleague here with me in Mudgee. Every pharmaceutical drug you take has a side effect, even the safe ones many people take every day. Book in to see a naturopath to get to the bottom of your why, rather than using drugs to suppress the symptoms.... Thanks Allie for an informative post!

14.01.2022 Chicken liver pate; a definite superfood if there is one! Liver is full of fat soluble vitamins, including the active form of vitamin a, retinol. It also has all of the b vitamins. Mixing it with butter, onions and fresh herbs make it delicious and gives it more of a nutrient boost (like it needed it ) from its many nutrients such as the anti-oxidants vitamin E, selenium and cholesterol. Check out the following links for more info on liver and butter (where the screen sh...ot of livers benefits comes from). https://www.westonaprice.org//food-featur/the-liver-files/ https://www.westonaprice.org//know-y/why-butter-is-better/ Let me know if you want the recipe! It is the best one I've found yet

13.01.2022 Hello wonderful people! After a break here I am getting back in to consulting. I no longer consult from Blooms The Chemist and have moved to mainly online video consults. I use a secure program within my patient management software to do this. It is super easy to use and totally secure and private. I dont use Zoom as it is not end to end encrypted and so is not secure enough for telehealth meetings. I am looking at offering face to face consults once a month on a Saturday or Sunday. If this interests you or you would like an online consult let me know! Cant wait to get back to helping you on your health journey :D

13.01.2022 Another fantastic documentary I highly recommend watching. It is free to watch for the next 5 days at https://access.sacredcow.info/

12.01.2022 Oh yes health is much more than what we eat....

12.01.2022 Food as medicine. Ginger is a potent medicine we can use everyday in our cooking, as a kitchen remedy and also as a liquid or dried herbal medicine remedy. Ginger is warming and spicy and excellent for digestion. Making a ginger tea by boiling the chopped root in water for a few minutes or by grating and squeezing the juice into hot water, is beneficial for nausea, morning sickness, bloating and colic. I use the liquid herbal at home for myself and my family if we have over i...ndulged in food (or alcohol ;) :P) or if we have gastro. Ginger is also a wonderful anti-inflammatory. It helps alleviate pain from osteo and rheumatoid arthritis and other pain conditions. Using fresh ginger in your cooking, as tea or in honey or as a liquid herbal is a wonderful way of using this spicy root as its healing powers are easily assimilated in to your body.

10.01.2022 Latest broth. This is beef but I threw in a pork trotter to get all that gelatin goodness

10.01.2022 Would you like to learn more about NER? Have a look at my webpage to read about what NER is and how it can help you. https://www.livingwholistically.com.au/naturopathic-emotion If you would like to know more or book an appointment please email me at [email protected].

10.01.2022 Do you drink tea? Where you aware of the micro plastic problem? Once you know better you can do better. If we all make the small decisions each day to better our own health and the environments health then it adds up to be a big difference!

09.01.2022 I have been wondering whether to post in light of whats going in but as always my mentor Shalani from Live Alive sums up everything I am thinking so I will just share her thoughts rather than reinventing the wheel!

08.01.2022 Blog Post Monday Often I have so much I want to say in my head that my facebook posts could go on and on and on! Often I dont end up writing anything as I dont think people want huge Facebook posts all the time! So I have decided to start a blog :D Plenty of info coming up all about disease, health, nutrition and the different treatments we have available to make ourselves strong and healthy! :D I am starting with a series about the cause of disease. I am trying to keep th...e blogs fairly short so you dont get bored ;) Leave a comment to let me know youve read it and what you think! If you like it share it around to help the ones you love on their journey to health :D https://www.livingwholistically.com.au/causeofdisease

08.01.2022 Food as medicine: I am not a tea and coffee drinker. Im not a fan of the taste or how coffee makes me feel. However I do love using herbal teas as medicine. Ill get my kids involved and we make a herbal sleepy time tea, or if they have an infected cut Ill make an antibacterial and healing tea to bathe the wound in. Drinking and bathing are just two ways our wonderful plants can help us be healthy Sleepy tea: Chamomile, oatstraw, peppermint, add amounts to whatever flavou...r you like. Put a couple of teaspoons in a cup of boiling water and steep for 10-15min. Add honey to taste and enjoy before bed. Healing tea: Chamomile and calendula, equal amounts. Put a couple of teaspoons in a cup of boiling water and steep for 10-15min. Add a couple of teaspoons of good quality salt. Either put in a bowl and soak affected part (toe, finger etc) or soak cotton balls/facewasher and put on affected part. Also use without the salt to bathe red, sore eyes and conjunctivitis.

08.01.2022 Breakfast of champions! Avocado, onion, fried eggs, mushroom and onion and sauerkraut with a mug of chicken bone broth. 7am to 9am is the time of day our stomach meridian has the most energy. Meaning we digest food better during this time. Our cortisol is also highest in the morning and eating brings our cortisol down. As a result fasting in the morning or skipping breakfast keeps our cortisol high and sets us up for a more stressful day. ... Set yourself up for a calm day and less snacking by eating a nutrient dense, wholefood breakfast. Skip the toast and cereal and your blood sugar balance will thank you

07.01.2022 Came home from a busy trip away feeling not great... had a few quiet days at home but still woke this morn with a killer sinus headache and muscle pains. What does a naturopath do when sick... well funnily enough no I didnt take any herbal tinctures. I went for another favoured therapy of mine: Diaphoresis aka sweat therapy. The idea is to induce a fever and make yourself sweat. This activates your immune system and allows your body to more effectively fight of whatever infe...ction you are battling. In this picture is my rest spot. I had an incredibly hot bath to start the sweating and then rugged up and sipped hot herbal tea. Once I felt I had sweated enough I had a warm shower to rinse off. I also drank plenty of water and had a nap afterwards. I feel better than I have in days! Check out the following link to learn more about diaphoresis and how to do it properly. What techniques do you use when youre not feeling well? https://rjwhelan.co.nz/conditions/diaphoresis.html#dia5

06.01.2022 After two weeks off for various family events down in Syd, Im back on the floor at Blooms The Chemist Mudgee. Come in for a chat about natural remedies and supplements for health concerns you have.

05.01.2022 How wonderful would it be to have a way to jump those hurdles that block you on your healing journey? Those moments when you say oh I just cant do that, its too hard or I have done ALL the things but this issue just wont get better! As a Naturopathic Emotional Release (NER)practitioner, I now have the way to help you do just this! NER is a way of identifying the underlying emotional blocks that can be contributing to your symptoms or undesirable behaviours. These emotiona...l blocks occur in your subconscious, therefore you may not be aware of them in your every day life. NER allows me to assess your subconscious through muscle testing and then integrate and release the emotional blocks using bush flower essences, acupuncture points and Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) points. The best thing about NER is that you dont even need to talk about the emotion or feeling we discover, you dont need to remember why you feel that way or the event that caused it, we are still able to integrate and release the feeling and leave you feeling lighter and ready to heal. I will be using NER as a tool in my naturopathic consults. I am also offering NER only consults, so if you are interested in freeing yourself from the hurdles in your healing then email me at [email protected].

01.01.2022 Excited to be learning a new tool to use in practice today

01.01.2022 Every Sat morn I am on the floor in store to help you out!
