19.01.2022 Does your breakfast need a revamp? PB toast is one of my favourites! ** Peanut Butter Toast Your Way ** Adding peanut butter (or any nut butter for that matter) is a great source of protein. Up the anti with the addition of fruit too simply delicious! ... Ingredients: 1 slice wholegrain, rye or sourdough bread 1.5 tbsp natural peanut butter or nut butter of your choice 1/2 cup fruit for example, strawberry, banana or pear Instructions: 1) Toast the bread. 2) Spread with peanut butter and top with sliced fruit. Tips! - A natural nut butter is a great way to add protein to a piece of toast. Try almond, cashew, macadamia, peanut or a blend. Ricotta also works well if you’d prefer. - When choosing a bread, the grainier the better. Wholegrain, rye or sourdough are all good low GI options that will fill you up and keep you fuller for longer. #bariatriceats #vsgcooking #bariatriccookery #vsg #sleeve #vsgeats #vsghabits #wls #wlsaus #vsgaus #vsgcommunity #dietitian #apd See more
18.01.2022 Live: Why bad foods go down so easily! Especially important reminder as we hurtle towards silly season!
16.01.2022 The diet mentality is a false belief that weight loss leads to improved health, confidence, happiness, and success. It is the voice inside your head telling you which foods are ‘good’ or ‘bad’. This mentality can lead to disordered eating behaviours such as restricting, bingeing & purging, and ultimately it fosters a negative relationship with food. After weight loss surgery sadly these habits don’t just go away. And at this time of year they can rear their ugly head again as... we face more uncontrolled situations. Why should we ditch the diet mentality? The more you say no I can never eat that food, the more likely you are to binge especially on that food that has been forbidden. It is important to take the surgery itself as an opportunity to reset your mindset around food. Make the most of what you can eat because after surgery your portions are considerably reduced. Practice fostering the mindset of I can have it if i want it, but do I really feel like it?, Will my future self really feel like it?. If you can get to the stage where you are more intuitive with your food, I can guarantee you are going to be much more satisfied inside and out! So tell me... Do you struggle with a diet mentality? Do you talk about foods as good or bad? #weightloss #weightlossinspo #healthyhabits #dietitiansofinstagram #healthylifestyle #vsg #sleeve #vsgeats #vsghabits #mindfuleating #wls #wlsaus #vsgaus #vsgcommunity #dietitian #apd #payattention #overeating See more
13.01.2022 Looking for a lunch box friendly option? Try these Zucchini, Mint & Haloumi Fritters. These fritters are quick and easy to make and oh so versatile! Pair with a poached egg for brekkie, some leftover roast veg or salad for lunch or dinner or on their own as a snack - they're freezable too! Ingredients:... 500 g grated zucchini wring the moisture from it using a tea towel 1 red onion finely chopped 1 clove garlic crushed bunch mint leaves chopped 180 g haloumi chopped finely 1 lemon zested tsp salt 1/2 tsp Ground black pepper 3 large eggs slightly whisked 1/3 cup plain flour Instructions: 1) Combine the zucchini, onion, garlic, mint and haloumi together in a large mixing bowl or food processor. Add the zest, salt, pepper, eggs and mix to combine. Lastly add the flour and mix well. The mixture should have the consistency of a pancake batter so add more flour if you feel it's necessary. 2) Add a little olive oil to a fry pan and heat over a moderate heat. Add the batter (1-2 tablespoons at a time depending on the size you want) and cook until brown, carefully flipping. Tips! - Serve with a little hummous, tzatziki, Greek yoghurt and/or smoked salmon to increase the protein further. #bariatriceats #vsgcooking #bariatriccookery #vsg #sleeve #vsgeats #vsghabits #wls #wlsaus #vsgaus #vsgcommunity #dietitian #apd See more
09.01.2022 Spotted! I found these in Woolies yesterday. They’re a bit smaller than a usual wrap which makes them a better size post-sleeve. Per wrap there’s 110cal and 9g protein which is good. Tried them this morning with PB and banana - I usually like a grainy wrap and these were a little more chewy than I usually like but I’d buy them again. ... Anyone else tried them? #woolworths #bariatricaustralia #bariatricshopping #vsgeats #wraps
