06.01.2022 This prayer wall resides in Calvary Hospital in Canberra. It displays an ancient Snow Gum that sits at the very top of Mt. Gingera, which is the highest peak on the distant skyline seen from Canberra. The tree, battered by winds, storms and snow in winter, is a powerful metaphor for resilience and strength in the face of struggle and suffering. It’s strong powerful limbs bend towards the earth in a tender embrace of compassion while it’s canopy reaches up to the divine. For those patients and visitors who are not Christian the tree provides a universal metaphor for healing as it invites the beholder to connect to transcendence within the natural world. Prayers, hopes and stories are placed in the canopy amongst the leaves. Photo; S Hall #vwamember #artteacher
