23.01.2022 Table in the making. Will be nice to see this one finished. Made by JP Custom Furniture.
21.01.2022 When food safety certification is important. Not only are the Kunos oils certified food and toy safe, but they also list all their ingredients so you are able to make the final choice.
21.01.2022 Easy fix, most of the time. When one works with stains, no matter what product, one always adds an element of difficulty. With a little bit of the same oil, something light abrasive and some of the original oil, one can quickly, with no machines, repair a damaged area. Apply some oil over the area to be repaired and rub in or lightly sand the area with the oil. This repairs and reoils the area at the same time. After approximately 15 or so minutes, wipe off the excess oil and hey presto, all done. Keep in mind though, if it is an older surface, or the stain has been on there for a while, it can be fixed however due to natural oxidisation, the area may look lighter for a while.
20.01.2022 Often, we get clients ringing us wanting to treat their concrete and make it darker. A lot of the time those clients are happy with how the clear method (Linus + Kunos) deepens the concrete (depending on how the concrete is finished of course). As you can see the clear has gone a considerable amount darker just by the penetrating nature of the oils. For those wanting an even darker finish we offer the Ardvos universal oil mixed with 5% of the Vindo gloss paint (also comes in different colours not just black). Then again, if you want to keep the concrete light, one can use the Ardvos with 5% of the Vindo white.so many options!
20.01.2022 Springtime is deck time, in most States anyway. With winter finally over and daylight hours increasing, what better time is there to pay your deck some attention. Well, maybe not necessarily this coming weekend though. The Alis decking oil is very versatile and available in a range of sizes and in 6 stains to suit just about any use externally.
19.01.2022 The gorgeous warm toning of French oak. Even though some years old, it still looks as new. Made by Neil Thomason, Castlemaine Victoria.
17.01.2022 Why isn’t cork used more often? Soft, insulating, quiet and easy to care for. Treated with the Kunos natural oil sealer, it leaves a matt to a slight satin finish, not the high gloss plastic glass look of Eurathane.
16.01.2022 How beautiful are these trays made from Australian timber offcuts? STRAY made from offcuts from furniture projects by Melbourne furniture maker and designer Anton Gerner. Available from Craft Victoria in Melbourne and Bungendore Woodworks in Bungendore NSW.
15.01.2022 The rich warm tones of clear oil on Bamboo! The reoiling of this court is easily handled by the school’s maintenance crew, again making it a more cost effective option to resurfacing or having external trades doing the work.
15.01.2022 When Architect, builder and carpenters work together, the result speaks for itself. What a great use of space and feature. A beautiful and pleasant place to work. Nice work @arc_projects designed by Architect Nathan Etherignton. Spotted gum joinery oiled with Livos oils.
15.01.2022 Adding colour to lighter timbers. Always best to do test samples first to ensure it is the colour you are after. Parts of the timber will appear darker than others, generally the softer parts that absorb more stain than the denser sections. It is a natural material so the results will vary. The Kaldet in the brazil stain used on this windowsill and frame.
14.01.2022 First impressions always count. Fences, windows and doors are what one sees before entering a home. So, when choosing an exterior oil, do not only consider the price. Many so called oils and varnishes, whilst quite cheap and easy to apply, do not work wonders. In fact, they cause more issues. When the coating starts to break down by peeling, often the only way to remove the rest or rectify the look of the project is by sanding the surfaces back. Also remember, if you wear sunscreen when in the sun, so should your timber. There is no natural oil that is clear. Livos uses pigments to help protect the timber from UV rays and the weather.
13.01.2022 Always wanted one but hadn't had the time or place for it. Covid does have some benefits, I guess. From 3 pallets and an old sink, some left over decking oil and some paint, Livos off course. Mix to create some weird shades but hey, it’s certainly adds a bit of colour.
13.01.2022 No smell does not mean nontoxic but rest assured, with a Livos oiled surface there are no nasty off gassing. Healthy indoor air is naturally important throughout the home but more so in one’s bedroom. A feature wall and touches of timber oiled with the Kunos natural oil sealer add an additionally warmth and touch of comfort to this beautiful bedroom. Photo thanks to Archiblox. 12.01.2022 Nice to see customers receiving recognition. Canberra based furniture maker Rolf Barfoed.
12.01.2022 No use having a surface treated with a natural oil to then use an aggressive cleaner. Whilst vinegar and baking soda are natural materials, they strip and break down the oil/wax /resin surface of tables and floors. Recommended is the Trena PH netural cleaner. A concentrate, making it very economical to use, as well as it being mild and effective in cleaning without breaking down the oiled surface.
11.01.2022 When food surfaces are in the forefront, you and your customers can rest assured, the Livos Kunos oils are independently tested for food safety. In heavy wear areas, the surface needs to be easily maintained and the timber nourished from time to time for the surface to continue to be a focus point.
11.01.2022 Less than 5 weeks for Chirstmas and not sure what to buy for those special little ones in the family? What about a set of finger paints or a face paint pallet? The Vida face paint and the Salis finger paints are ideal safe gifts for little ones as they contain ZERO chemicals! Would you gift your loved one something to can potentially end up in their mouths if you did not know what it contained? As with all #Livos products, a full list of ingredients is available. The face paints come in 12 beautiful colours, with 2 natural pig bristle brushes and a cleaning cloth. The finger paints come in 6 0.05ml pots, in 6 colours that can be mixed together to create other colours and the best bit is, they can be used on not only paper but other materials as well.
11.01.2022 What a little oil can do. When rejuvenating a worn floor, one only needs to go over the area with a maroon pad. This cleans up and minor scratches, and residue from cleaning agents. Then, buff in some oil with a white pad. One can do this by hand, however having a small buffing machine sure makes things much easier. Stay off it overnight and all is back to normal.
09.01.2022 With a bit of care the stains from a rubber backed mat with water underneath, were removed without sanding the whole floor. A screenmesh was used on the dark stains, a quick buff with a maroon pad and some of the original oil used, in this case the Kunos white, and the floor is looking brand new again! Due to the penetrating nature of the oils, rejuvenation is not all too difficult.
09.01.2022 Don’t you just love the textured stone wall? That, with the white concrete oiled floor added interest to this passageway.
08.01.2022 Even on concrete, the oils are not difficult to apply. On larger areas, a machine to remove the excess oil is certainly advantageous. Here, the Vindo white paints is mixed into the Ardvos universal oil to allow the concrete to remain in its light grey (as untreated) look.
08.01.2022 How rich does the timber look after getting the first drink of the Kunos natural oil sealer? Easy to apply and forgiving. No problem with walking over an oiled surface, just buff over the area walked, no marks, no remaining footprints.
03.01.2022 The outcome when one stains is not necessarily what one would expect, even if using the same stain. Often variations are due to the actual timber species, sanding grit and the stain itself. If not sure, it is recommended to do a test sample first, whatever the coating.
02.01.2022 One way to solve the issue of a steep block. A welcoming approach to anyone’s front door. Alis in the Oak stain on mixed reds.
01.01.2022 When a little goes a long way. A sample pot size Bivos to refurbish much loved furniture pieces.
