25.01.2022 Life is full of challenges... find something they love... do it as often as you can Through providing different experiences, we can help children learn new words, develop plans and solve problems. Through providing opportunities in line with our little ones preferences, they are motivated to learn and do so without trying.

24.01.2022 A few months ago I was told about the podcast episode - Autism and Superhero’s. On Saturday, I finally found the time to listen- and have been thinking about it ever since. Please take the time to listen - we can all take away so much: - expect change, growth and development - providing education to others is a key to developing acceptance ... - children have their own personalities and interests this is what makes them unique - we all can be on our own road to happiness (And those Mum’s- I don’t have words to describe how amazing they are) https://www.abc.net.au//al/autism-and-superheroes/11546168

22.01.2022 The Easter Bunny visited a farm and left some delicious eggs for the animals. Can you help them find them? I hope the Easter Bunny remembered to leave some Easter Eggs for the Farmer's children.

19.01.2022 In our house, we are practicing writing sentences. Thinking of a topic, formulating a sentence and writing the words (spelling) can be extremely effortful! To make the task more motivating, I have been using animal pictures. Mr Liz Bailey Speech has used writing practice as a form of manipulation (he is desperate for a fishing boat). Writing has many purposes

14.01.2022 But..... 'where is the green sheep????'

13.01.2022 Miss Lynn helped two boys learn to knit today. The boys desperately wanted to learn, they sat and gave Miss Lynn full attention. Lynn used YouTube clips to demonstrate the French knitting techniques and carefully supported the boys as they took their few ‘stitches’. The boys were determined to make a crab pot, snake, coaster, necklace... the ideas kept flowing. ... Well done boys and Lynn

12.01.2022 In partnership with the Aboriginal Health Council of Western Australia - AHCWA we're proud to share with you this poster, which will be distributed across early... childhood settings across WA. The aim of this poster is to help increase awareness of the early signs of Autism within Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, helping young children get their diagnosis and access to early intervention and support as early as possible. Thank you to the Yinhawanaka Charitable Trust and Myer Family Company for their generous donations to make this wonderful resource happen.

05.01.2022 Western Sydney Uni has recently developed the OZI-SF (OZI Short Form) which takes 12 minutes to complete. It's an online checklist for parents of Australian children aged 12-30 months. It looks a child's current vocabulary (what they can say and what they can understand as well as some gestures). Parents get a report after filling in the report that tells about their child's communication

05.01.2022 LOVE WHAT HE DOES RESPECTFULLY JOIN IN When a family goes through the process of having a child diagnosed with any form of developmental or neurological disorder... much time and attention is spent looking for deficits - searching for what they can’t do... and POSSIBLY comes with anxiety and exhaustion. ... So.... much of my therapy involves helping parents lovingly wonder about their child’s uniquely beautiful behaviours. Watch your child... wonder about the purpose of their behaviour (why are they doing what they are doing) and join in what they are doing. So much joy comes from shared positive experiences

05.01.2022 Over the course of the last 15 years, I have watched the research into snoring and brain development evolve. If your child snores more than 4 nights a week, breaths through their mouth or grinds their teeth; please take some time to view this PowerPoint. If you have concerns about your child’s breathing, please consult your family GP for a referral to an Ears, Nose and Throat Specialist (ENT)

03.01.2022 Parents, have a look at these resources; so many lovely ideas to try with your children

02.01.2022 Words are powerful! They hold meaning well after they are spoken. Rephrasing our language to solution focused phrases will create a mind & culture shift.
