22.01.2022 A time of reflecting on past initiatives, planning, organising and successful outcomes. When working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community members in the north Brisbane area, and after several consultation meetings to identify community wants, needs and aspirations, I was asked by A&TSI Elders to help them form the Metro North Elders Yarning Circle. With passion and commitment I accepted their request and fully supported their aspirations to develop the group... to sustainability. Metro North Elders Yarning Circle has continued community-based operations since 2004, and is now fully supported by the Moreton Bay Regional Council. In 2005, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women asked me to work with them to develop an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women's group for the north Brisbane area. The Murri and Islander Women's Group was formed and successfully continued operations to inform about health issues and to reduce social isolation until 2011. The demise of the Murri and Islander Women's Group occurred due to changes by the then state government. See more

22.01.2022 My current work role is a vocational educational trainer delivering training in employability skills to youth aged 15 to 24 years. In this work role I facilitate information to long-term unemployed youth regarding knowledge, skills and attributes. Over the next few days I will discuss with the followers of Liz Hornibrook, Division 7, Fraser Coast Regional Council, about the knowledge, skills and attributes I hold and specific ways I have effectively applied these in the var...ious communities I have lived and worked. In 2008, I was employed by the Department of Communities at the Logan Youth Justice Service Centre as a Youth Justice Case Worker. A significant and memorable work activities I undertook while in this work position was to be actively engaged in Community Recovery activities during Storms 2008 (November 2008). My work tasks entailed providing advice and support to people affected from flooding around Ipswich. I also assessed and reported on damage caused to people's properties. My work role also involved providing socio-emotional support to people affected by the floods, together with assisting with building resilience in the Ipswich community. These are knowledge, skills and attributes I hold, but hope I never have to use in my local community. Authorised by Liz Hornibrook, 34 Senor Avenue, Urangan, 4655. See more

21.01.2022 I do not support the building of multi-story buildings including those that may block water views. My life experiences include memories of spending all school holidays in a family-owned beachfront unit on the Gold Coast with ocean views until re-development obscured the ocean views. I recall how the Gold Coast was a pleasant family-oriented holiday place until many high rise buildings altered the Gold Coast environment. I also recall how the Sunshine Coast was altered from a ...peaceful family-oriented holiday environment to places of rush and bustle. Many people have moved to Hervey Bay for a quieter, family-oriented lifestyle in an environmentally-friendly paradise where one can appreciate nature. By allowing the construction of multi-story buildings will push the Hervey Bay environment into a similar environment of rush and bustle as has occurred on both the Gold Coast and the Sunshine Coast. 19.01.2022 I would like to thank the residents of River Heads for their warm welcome last night (Friday 13th March) when I attended the River Heads Café. I must say the concept of bringing the community together once a week to share a delicious and well-cooked meal is fantastic for upholding community spirit and togetherness. I commend the not-for-profit River Heads Progression Association Incorporation for catering for the needs of the River Heads community, while focusing on a healt...Continue reading

17.01.2022 Today is the day to have your say! Polling booths are open from 8am to 6pm today. Make sure you follow the health protection measures that will be in place at your polling booth.

13.01.2022 Among my key promises to the residents of Division 7 relates to upholding open and honest communications, along with monthly community consultations. I am seeking open discussions about council-related issues that residents of Division 7 consider to be important. I also value feedback about my work performance. I'll know to keep checking in. Ask specifically about my ‘eyeliner’ or 'best offer for cash' and I'll contact authorities for you! I’ll ask for address for ‘postage’ See more

07.01.2022 When talking with community members from River Heads, I was asked about my thoughts on a wind farm for the area. I have seen a wind farm in operation while I lived on Thursday Island. I do not agree with placement of wind farms in environmental habitats such as River Heads and Turtle Cove as it can have adverse environmental impacts such as the capacity for reducing, fragmenting and/or degrading wildlife, fish, and plant habitats. Other wildlife including birds and bats are at risk of harm from the spinning turbine blades. I consider there are other places that may be far more suitable for the placement of a wind farm than the environmentally pristine River Heads and Turtle Cove areas. 07.01.2022 Our call centre is receiving an unprecedented volume of calls this morning. Please be patient as we are working hard to answer your calls.

04.01.2022 Across Hervey Bay there are a number of local road issues requiring prioritised attention due to reduced opportunities to enter into another roadway and traffic congestion. If elected, the first local road issue I will discuss with Department of Transport and Main Roads is the horrid intersection of Boundary Road, Walker Road, Booral Road and Elizabeth Street. It would weigh heavily on my conscious if a fatal incident was to occur in that vicinity.

03.01.2022 I believe Fraser Coast Regional Council rates should align with the CPI Authorised by Liz Hornibrook, 34 Senor Avenue, Urangan, 4655.

03.01.2022 The coronavirus traveled all over the world from Wuhan China, but it did not reach Beijing or Shanghai or other major cities in China. Can anyone explain how is... that possible? There are so many questions, after all, where it all started, in China, the Chinese stock market did not collapse, but the American and European markets did, and when those markets collapsed, the Chinese bought a lot. All roads lead back to China 1. They created a virus for which they already had an antidote. 2. They purposely spread the virus for financial gain. 3. There is a clear demonstration of efficiency to such an extent that they built hospitals in a few days. To build so many hospitals they had to be prepared with organized projects, for example, with the ordering of equipment, the hiring of labor, the water and sewerage network, the prefabricated building materials and the storage in an impressive volume. Everything happened so fast that everyone was speechless. 4. They caused chaos in the world, beginning with Europe and the rest of the western worlds. 5. Quickly decimating the economies of dozens of countries. 6. Stop production and manufacturing lines in factories and primary production in dozens of countries. 7. Causing the stock markets to crash and then they bought stocks, bonds and companies at bargain prices. 8. They then quickly gained control of the epidemic in their country. After all, they were ready and he was never really out of control. 9. In all this, they managed to lower the price of basic products, including the price of oil. 10. Now they are going back to mass production while the rest of the world is stopped. Also note how quickly Chinese unions activated to "hoard" purchases of bus cargo to regional shopping centers across Australia, stripping our shelves of toilet paper and staple foods. It happened before most of us knew what was happening, even before we knew what the Coronavirus was.

02.01.2022 In upholding my philosophy of "I will listen and be there as your voice", I understand Division 7 candidates' requests for a public transport system for around the mainland areas of the division 7 (i.e. Torquay, Kawangun, Wondunna, Urangan, Booral and River Heads). This is among the strong issues I would fight to have implemented when voted into council. Authorised by Liz Hornibrook, 34 Senor Avenue, Urangan, 4655.

02.01.2022 In many areas of Division 7 the issue of drainage has been neglected. I consider it is essential for the drainage infrastructure to be improved across Division 7.

02.01.2022 When the Corona Virus finally exhausts itself and the danger is over, let's do something good for our country, Let's spend our holidays in Australia, eat in local restaurants, buy Australian products, buy local meats and veggies and support local businesses and support our Farmers. These businesses are going to find it very difficult to get back on their feet and survive without our help. They're suffering badly now. Our products are some of the best in the world. Our country is one of the most beautiful. Let’s look after it and its loyal people, not because of Bushfires, not because of floods, not because of viruses, but because we are Australian

01.01.2022 Thank you so much to everyone who expressed their solidarity at the polling booths and in supporting my overall election campaign. If elected as Councillor for Division 7, I am passionate and committed to work for the Fraser Coast Regional Council and particularly the Division 7 community. With one area of my former career background having been in health, I am looking forward to being briefed on the Fraser Coast Regional Council's Covid-19 response, together with engaging in activities to do what I can to ensure we, as a whole-of-community, can work unitedly during this challenging time.
