22.01.2022 Are you feeling anxious about the current situation? Here are some ideas for managing it. https://www.psychology.org.au/COVID-19-Australians

17.01.2022 Medicare is currently allowing psychologists to treat clients under Better Access (Mental Health Care Plans) via videoconferencing or telephone if they meet one or more of the following criteria: they have been diagnosed with COVID-19; they are isolating at home on the advice of their GP or in accordance with the home isolation guidance issues by the Australian Health Protection Principal Committee (AHPPC); they are more susceptible to COVID-19 by virtue of being: ... aged over 70 aged over 50 and Indigenous or Torres Strait Islanders a complex chronic health condition sufferer or immunocompromised, a parent to a child <12 months old, or pregnant; they meet the current national triage protocol criteria for suspected COVID-19 infection. The government have announced that they will be broadening the scope of these changes on Monday, 30th March and I will update this page with the new changes then.

13.01.2022 So very true. I love helping people find new ways of thinking and being that work for them!

13.01.2022 Just a quick update re the expanding number of respiratory clinics on the Gold Coast. There is now a dedicated clinic at Nerang exclusively for COVID-19 testing of people with higher vulnerability than average. This includes people who have symptoms and are Indigeous or Torres Strait Island people (and their families), people who are over 70, babies who are under 12 months, pregnant women, people who are immunocompromised and people who have significant chronic disease. Pleas...e call before attending on 0455 026 553 or email lorraine.pacey.iuih.org.au. There is also a new clinic at Hope Island for testing of the broader community. The number to call there is 55635151. If you or any of your loved ones are experiencing anxiety or other mental health symptoms in relation to the pandemic or other issues, please feel free to call my clinic on 5628 7029 to discuss how to access sessions. You can also message me here. Stay safe! Stay healthy!

12.01.2022 This is a really interesting watch for people who'd like to know a bit about mindfulness. Catch it on iView. http://www.abc.net.au/catalyst/stories/4952971.htm

12.01.2022 You can now access telehealth clinical psychology sessions in the comfort of your own home without having to meet the vulnerability criteria that were previously applicable. This can involve either talking with me over the phone or participating in a video call. The only requirements are that you have a valid Mental Health Care Plan and a Medicare card. If you don't currently have a Mental Health Care Plan, chat with your GP via telehealth to assess if you are eligible for one. During the coronavirus crisis these sessions will be bulk billed. To make an appointment call 5628 7029.

11.01.2022 In an era of FOMO and Competitive Everything, this person's attitude is a refreshing alternative. Yes, it IS ok to hang out on the couch with your kids watching telly together and eating biscuits sometimes! https://www.mamamia.com.au/i-dont-list

05.01.2022 I've had a lot of questions from friends and clients about the ever changing landscape of psychology since the advent of the COVID-19 restrictions so I thought I'd address the most commonly asked one here. Many people are wondering why psychologists who were originally bulk billing under telehealth suddenly started charging a gap fee a few weeks later. The bottom line is that the government initially said all telehealth services had to be bulk billed but then realized that bi...g practices with big overheads were not going to be able to keep employing all their staff when, in some cases, they were bringing in less than half the income due to the higher fees they normally charge. The government responded accordingly by allowing psychologists to charge a gap fee. I've always had a belief in bulk billing people in genuine need (such as health care card holders) so have made the decision that I will continue to bulk bill ALL telehealth services for my Miami Business Centre clients for as long as I can during the coronavirus crisis. If you, your friends or your family members are doing it tough during this crisis please feel free to contact the clinic on 5628 7029 to discuss how to find out if you/they may be eligible for this service. Stay distant, safe and healthy! And here's a picture of my personal happy place to brighten your day! See more
