22.01.2022 Today we did some paper, cotton and silk dyeing with a variety of plant materials including onion skins, turmeric and indigo. SO MUCH FUN!!!

14.01.2022 Took delivery of some very special greens yesterday...so exciting!!! Now I have the delightful problem of deciding what to do with them first!!! So glad it's almost the weekend!!

13.01.2022 Just finished setting up for 3D artist of the month at Pomona Railway Station Gallery. I will be running a series of 4 weaving workshops commencing later this month at the gallery. If you're interested in joining me call 5485 2950 to book or for more information.

12.01.2022 Even when I'm helping to set up and eco-dyeing exhibition I'm still weaving!!! LOL I just can't help myself Fabric - Botanical Colourings 2020 exhibition

12.01.2022 This is my first lino cut since high school (and that was a long time ago!)...I loved it then and, I'm glad to say, it has lost none of its charm over the years. I have been experimenting with natural pigments...culminating in me making the ink for these prints from walnut husks. Love the colour. Now to print on a special background and voila...you'll see it hanging somewhere special on the 19th!

12.01.2022 One of my favorite Shibori techniques, this is Guntai Shibori. And this beautiful piece dyed with natural indigo is being exhibited by the extraordinary artist Cathy Moon.

11.01.2022 Thanks to these beautiful women who joined me on Tuesday for a coil weave workshop. Such fun!!

10.01.2022 Eco-Printed some paper yesterday for a book for the upcoming Botanical Colours Exhibition...here's a peek at one of the pages.

10.01.2022 Got to hang out with some really cool homeschoolers at my recent eco-printing workshop in Cooran as they wanted to add some botanical interest to clothes they are wearing as costumes for a play written by some of them...even got to get creative and think outside the box making the makeshift 'stove' (which ended up being engineered by some peeps who have far greater knowledge of such things than I) - but it was over an open fire...you've gotta love that smell. The way the dyestuff is layed out it looks almost good enough to eat! Such a lovely way to spend the day, sigh. Now we begin the loooonnngg (not really that long but seems it) wait for the leaves to give up their secrets to the fibre. Unbundling on Friday!

09.01.2022 SEMPRE PEÇA PERMISSÃO Antes de cortar um galho de árvore ou tirar uma flor, deixe o espírito da árvore ou planta saber o que você vai fazer, para que ele poss...a retirar sua energia daquele local e não sentir o corte tão forte. Quando você for para a natureza e quiser pegar numa pedra que estava no rio, pergunte ao guardião do rio se ele permite que você pegue uma de suas pedras sagradas. Se você tiver que escalar uma montanha ou fazer uma peregrinação pela selva, peça permissão aos espíritos e guardiões do lugar. É muito importante que você se comunique, mesmo que não sinta, ouça ou veja. Entre em cada lugar com respeito, pois toda a Natureza te escuta, te vê e te sente. Cada movimento que você faz no microcosmo gera um grande impacto no macrocosmo. Ao se aproximar da vegetação, seja grato pelo remédio que ela tem para você. Honre a vida nas suas várias formas e tenha a consciência de que cada ser está cumprindo o seu propósito. Nada foi criado para preencher os espaços, estamos todos aqui lembrando nossa missão, lembrando quem somos e acordando do sonho sagrado de voltar para Casa! {Fonte: Planta & Canta - https://www.facebook.com/plantaycanta} {Imagem de Geenss Archenti}

09.01.2022 Meet Pearl the Mermaid...she is now clothed and looking far more alluring and, well, finished (one might say)...I will post more pics later, but for now, you'll have to be patient, as I don't want to spoil the surprise...of course you can see her in all her glory (she even has a rock to perch on) from 19 Sept to 12 Oct at the Sunshine Coast Natural Dyeing Interest Group's exhibition, Botanical Colourings at the Maroochy Bushland Botanical Garden in the Arts and Ecology Rooms. (we have 21 exhibiting artists, so she won't be lonely, but I'm sure she'd like to meet you, if you can make it).

08.01.2022 Liz Abel has been creating a mermaid made from needle felted merino and Corriedale wool that has been eco-dyed with indigo, lichen, fishbone fern, copper, Bangalow palm and avocado.

08.01.2022 Here is your very own invitation to the premier natural dyeing exhibition on the Sunshine Coast. Come along and say hi! See you there

05.01.2022 Pearl the Mermaid at Botanical Colouring Exhibition 2020

04.01.2022 'Onion the Scholar' and 'Forrest the Gatherer' a beautiful and seriously cute collaboration of Gabrielle Leonard and Deidre Pearce. They await pride of place on... their plinth at Botanical Colourings Exhibition in 3 weeks time. I am seriously impressed with the standard and the diversity of work being presented, with 21 exhibitors and 45 pieces it's going to be quite a show. See more

03.01.2022 Here are the results of the eco-printing workshop I ran the other day...just stunning! These homeschooled girls did an outstanding job...and their garments look BEAUTIFUL! Well done girls. ;)
