23.01.2022 When I grew my hair I found there were very few hair slides, barrettes or other hair ornaments to suit adults with thick hair. So I started making some for myself. I really enjoy making these, playing with pattern, stitch, and colour.
15.01.2022 I'm well again and back to creating. I had a really nasty sinus infection which required an antibiotic cocktail to get rid of. Think I gave Russ a bit of a fright :( Anyway, I decided to do some beaded hair barrettes for myself, so here is one of them. It's a longer style (100mm) and is loom-woven using size 9 Japanese seed beeds in an opaque red accented with red silver-lined beads. it sits nicely at a slightly lower position on my head than the 80mm slides. I think it looks very French/chic :)
13.01.2022 The modern tea ceremony - Dip and jiggle? Many secrets are revealed when we share a cup of tea. I liked the effect of putting a tea-light inside the bowls to reveal the structure - which is as delicate as the finest porcelain teacup. Used tea-bags dried, cut, and laminated onto silk Paj using Powertex fabric and paper hardener polymer medium. Embroidered with black cotton thread. August 2014... 15cm dia. x 6.5cm h
11.01.2022 The Basement Gallery volunteers Matt and Lauren have done a great job of making a promotional video of this very nervous artist! Liz Arnold
