Smugglers Creek Inn is famous all around this part of Ireland and elsewhere. But when you go there, you will be treated as if you are one of their friends and neighbours. Bucket List Dreams! ;)

17.01.2022 I don't conduct many funerals - even though there is something quite wonderful about the re-telling of someone's life story. Particularly when youngsters in the family say ... "Wow, I didn't know Nana/Papa did that when she/he was young." .. I love that bit! <3 I was recently honoured to have been asked to conduct the funeral of a friend's husband, who had died in a nursing home from cancer. It was a sad occasion of course, but also a release from pain and dementia - so ...the focus was on really celebrating who this man had been. Having grown up in the Gorbals in Scotland, moving to Fleet Street to work; then onto South Africa - before settling in the western suburbs of Perth, WA - there were quite a few things about their grandad that the kids didn't know ;) They did, however, know that he loved them. They also knew that he was funny and clever and that he was always going to watch over them - Ian told his grandchildren that when he died he would become a star in the sky, so that every night when they looked up they would see him winking at them.. <3 RIP Ian Donnelly. You are a star! There were bagpipes and there was The Seekers - representing the 2 lands that Ian loved. (this is a spine chilling version of I Am Australian....

(no names as the Bride and Groom should be the first to update social media with the news! ;) ) ""The groom is from the Pilbara region and his people are Yinhawangr and Gulama. However, in this part of WA, we are on Nyoongar land. Traditionally when people of one group travel across someo...ne elses place, they wait to be welcomed to Country, by the Custodians of that particular area. The Welcome to Country calls on the spirits to give safe passage to the travellers and to ensure that their journey goes well. 12.01.2022 We thought 2020 was a shocker for Weddings and hoped that in 2021, there might be a chance that things would be easier. Sadly, it seems this isn’t the case. In fact, for many couples, they find themselves cancelling and/or postponing for the 2nd or even the 3rd time. Now, to add to the pain, many of the venues that were booked, have been affected by the bushfires. I am a full time Celebrant and my business has been badly hit with all the uncertainty however, my pain ...is nothing compared to that of so many couples going through the heartache of cancelling or changing plans once again. To all who have been affected in this way, know that my heart goes out to you. There’s not much any of us can do to change things but want you to know that I - and most of my colleagues really do care. I have conducted these ceremonies in parks, kitchens, boats, restaurants and hotel rooms... there are so many gorgeous options. <3 What to do about photos, if you are limited to 5 people? Perhaps he or she could use a zoom lens from far away for the actual ceremony - and then when the I leave, the photographer could take my place.
