19.01.2022 LJM FAMILY PLAYLIST.... My (Stack) favourite Powderfinger album is "Internationalist" and one of our favourite songs on the album is this gem. As we know, The Wifey LOVES music so our constant driving back and worth between Melbourne and the coast are filled with tunes.... Every once in a while we'll hear our 4 year old sing along (or hum) in the background to certain songs....THIS is one of them. So now, when this song comes up, we all sing at the top of our lungs from the 4 minute mark.... "The fragile bond has shaken loose This secret love a shrinking noose Suffocated on the truth Left with nothing" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FWJNHtm3hkA
19.01.2022 If Stack and I were ever to renew our vows she would totally be on board with a location like this ....

17.01.2022 "LOVE ME 2021!" I don't know about you but this is what I want from 2021Please, LOVE ME! So, my big plans of getting back into posting didn't really pan out... #sorry... Once Victoria's lockdown was eased I went straight into working which was bloody amazing! But then, like I do, I went too hard and ended up finishing 2020 covid free but with a case of pneumonia instead! ! #2020thegiftthatkeepsongiving Which is why the next photo sums up my thoughts of 2020 See more
16.01.2022 2020 - The modern day wedding. #covd19wedding #coronabigday Words from the Brides - Wedded Bliss during COVID 19... Nicole and I had finally set a date for our wedding, April 8th 2020 at Quat Quatta in Elsternwick. A month out from the wedding I started getting nervous that we could lose our option to go to Bali for our honeymoon. Then as the date drew closer, we lost our reception for 80 of our closest family and friends. We were shattered at the thought we couldn't get married as planned, but we realised our hearts were set on our date and we didn't want to wait another year. Through talking with our celebrant, she helped us to realise the real meaning behind getting married. Is it about the big wedding with all the bells and whistles or about actually being married to each other? As the COVID restrictions were still coming hard and fast, we had hope we could run the ceremony on the premises of Quat Quatta with just family. The venue was forced to close, so our next move was to hold our ceremony in our suite at Crown Towers for 5 people! That option didn't work out, so we finally found a spot on Southbank next to Polly woodside, that we loved! Once we saw a 'Corona' beer sign, we knew it was the perfect place! Finding an option that ticked all the boxes in relation to the government restrictions wasn't easy, we stuck with our party of 5 and still maintained social distancing. While it wasn't our first choice of getting married, we made it work and absolutely loved it! It just adds to the story of our relationship and one we will never forget!! We are planning on having the ceremony and reception complete with original honeymoon for our first year anniversary. So, in the end, we get the best of both worlds!! Happily ever after! @ Polly Woodside See more
15.01.2022 SILENCE The past few months have been some of the most challenging mentally of my life. If it wasn’t for this shining little face making me get up everyday I could easily justify staying in bed. I know I am not alone with this thinking and I am physically not alone. But I have never felt so alone in my life. Fuck you depression! ... I have been so hard on myself for not getting on social media and promote myself and try again get work because by shit I miss it! Fuck you anxiety! I miss holding the camera. I miss meeting new people. I miss hearing stories. I miss TELLING individuals stories. However on the occasions I manage to convince myself I can do it, I can write, I can put a picture up I talk to myself you can do it, doesn’t matter what you write, write ANYTHING then this overwhelming, dark, stormy cloud appears and self doubt takes over and apathy rears her head and I end up closing my laptop, feeling worse. Fuck you apathy! SO, here I am TRYING to put myself out there. I am not doing this for attention or pity or anything along those lines. I am doing this for me. I am trying to push through, up and on. If I do ONE post I might be able to do another one close after So here goes nothing :P #strugglingwithdepression #fuckcovid19

13.01.2022 Thank you! I just wanted to take a moment to thank you all. Thank you to all the beautiful people who left messages, DM and liked my previous post. Although I haven’t written since I have absolutely turned a corner and can see the light at the end of the tunnel which is brilliant!... Writing that post felt so freeing and so necessary for some reason?! I don’t know what it was. Whatever way, Thank you for giving me love and support or even just reading it. With lockdown restrictions being eased over our state (Victoria) you can feel a universal sigh of relief which has been soooooo good for all our souls and mental health. Anyhoo, Thank you you amazing humans! I'm sending you all virtual hugs and high fives. I hope you are all having a beautiful day and do at least one thing nice for yourself :) xx LJM
11.01.2022 As the personal and economic implications of a mass social isolation loom above us, we are grateful for the mitigating effect that this will have on the spread of COVID-19, but our thoughts remain with all who are negatively affected by this on any level. In particular, we are thinking of our fellow small-business owners, the self-employed and casual workers for whom a salary is not guaranteed, and the future is now even more uncertain and scary. 5 small things that you can ...do to support local, family-owned businesses if you have the means: 1. If at all possible, try to avoid cancelling a service or requesting a refund from the small business. Simply postpone your service until the dust has settled. 2. Purchase gift vouchers for friends and family to use after the isolation has passed. You could have all of your Christmas shopping done by the end of these two weeks! 3. Consider shopping online and locally through small businesses. You may just be paying a small familys rent for that week. 4. Order online from your favourite local restaurants. 5. Buy now, enjoy later organise a treat or service that youve always wanted (such as family portraits) and redeem it at a later date. Above all, look out for each other during this time! Check in on the vulnerable members of our community, be generous and realistic with your consumables, and practice daily selfcare. Use this time to unite and reconnect, to re-evaluate your goals and to reaffirm your values and belief systems. I have no doubt that we will all be stronger for this experience.
10.01.2022 Fuck. Here we are again Lockdown. Is it just me or does anyone else feel lost? ... I have been trying to do Instagram posts for MONTHS, however my complete feeling of hopelessness and apathy has prevented me from it. Ive struggled to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Depression, anxiety, loneliness, apathy have all reared there heads over the past few months. And now the thought of not seeing my friends/family again for a minimum of six weeks has knocked the wind out of me. Anyone else feel this? I absolutely know the lockdown is necessary, unpreceded times, greater good etc. but for someone who relies on people contact not only to make a living but to thrive and survive this has thrown me! I love shooting weddings, feeling all the anticipated excitement, the ups, the downs and completely enveloped in love. This buzz and vibe is like no other and totally hard to explain I would love to say I will use the next minimum 6 weeks in promoting my business, get on to marketing, show you new images. But Ill be honest, the thought overwhelms me and then I want to retreat. So what do you guys do to not sink? How are YOU? Feel free to DM if you want an accountability partner or even just someone to say the occasional hi too. Lets not fall together. #covid19 #lockdownroundtwo #melbournesmallbusiness #ljmphotography #ljmphoto

10.01.2022 Hypno Have any of you ever done or tried hypnosis? Many years ago I was seeing a psychologist who implemented this into her sessions; I bloody loved it. It was like a treat I was given to calm my soul at the end of a grueling session of ripping open and processing.... Just before she sadly retired (so bloody hard when your psychologist retires, but that’s another story for another day maybe), she allowed me to record one of her hypnosis sessions and I still listen to it to this day. I find such comfort hearing her voice again, let alone transporting into this relaxed state. In the session she asks me to think of a place of comfort. A place associated with feelings of tranquility, safety and calm For me, I have had a love for the ocean/water for as long as I remember. Whenever I look out into the never ending abyss I get this instant rush take over me. I feel centered, grounded and calm. So without fail, when I hear the call to comfort and safety, my mind is always transported back to a little secluded beach in OIA, Greece. These are trying times of stress and uncertainty, and I find my mind and spirit searching for comfort and safety on a daily basis. What place of calm, safety and comfort does your mind travel to, if you take a moment to close your eyes and breathe?

07.01.2022 Wondering whether I should contact Stone & Wood Brewing and let them know of my advertising idea? ....
07.01.2022 3 kids? Too easy!
07.01.2022 I bloody love my job! But much like a lot of other small business owners out there (as well as students and casual staff), if I dont work, I dont get paid. I have worked too hard to let some bullshit pandemic take me out! So today, rather than sitting in total unknown whilst panic-buying 4000 rolls of toilet paper, I am going to TRY and turn my thoughts into positive energy ones. Ones that will bring people up (not freak them the fuck out that this respiratory virus is goin...g to make them apparently shit themselves worth 4 billion rolls of loo paper. :D)! There are MANY other small businesses out there, brainstorming their arses off as to how to get through this. This got my old brain thinking; what can I do to help others? How can I help, using my skill set to help keep other people afloat? I understand that many fellow, small-business owners are already feeling the pinch, and a daunting road lies ahead for many of us. I want to help kickstart the viability and reestablishment of other small businesses in the coming weeks and months. Given how tight cashflow is for most of us at the moment, I am looking into collaborating and trading goods and services with other small businesses on a pro rata basis. This is with the sole objective of uplifting each other as a community, and supporting local, homegrown businesses and families to stay afloat during this crisis. Im a documentary-style photographer looking to exchange my services with other small business owners. Im offering to photograph you in your essence (from a safe distance, obviously), and provide you with professional photographs that you can use to boost your online presence and begin to recoup your losses in the forthcoming months. Do you have a small business thats doing it tough, or a service/product you would like to trade in return? Nothing is going to last forever BUT as the old saying goes; whatever doesnt break you, makes you stronger #melbournephotographer #documentaryphotography #backstory #aboutme #ljmphotography #beingreal #family #covid19 #socialdistancing #friends

03.01.2022 Early one weekday morning, a great friend (and fellow photographer) and I met underneath the clocks at Flinders St station. We were tasked with the seemingly simple mission to explore the city of Melbourne, documenting whatever we wanted! Sounds simple right? But I find that sometimes when things are too open ended and have no parameters, it can become a little too overwhelming. So, this day as I had my first coffee at an adorable hole-in-the-wall coffee shop, I was overwhelm...ed, wondering what in the world I would document! Suddenly, I felt drawn to set up my camera and start shooting, and this image was the product. It was part of a photo series I created that day called 5 coffees, that documented five different coffee shops. The image received a Silver at the APPAs (Australian Professional Photography Awards) and a Silver Distinction at the Victorian Awards, and was my favourite image from the day. See more
03.01.2022 Today my family are fortunate to be heading to Bali for 10 days. This pic was taken the last time we were there. It was such a great time. We had a chance to spend some quality family time together, reconnect and recharge. This time our son is 4. Talking and full of energy. I have a feeling it's going to be a completely different experience....We can't wait.
03.01.2022 STACK'S PLAYLIST.... Ok, music peeps, I need some suggestions. I can't listen to music with lyrics while I write. It's just too distracting and I end up writing song lyrics amongst my words. Not helpful at all!... So I'd LOVE some suggestions on bands or music that is predominantly void of singing....music like BONOBO here. Thanks in advance music lovers! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WF34N4gJAKE
01.01.2022 Did you have a choreographed dance at your wedding? What was the song? What were the moves? Was it a success? Or did you completely fluff it up?... I don't have a lot of variety with music choice which is why this one seems quite random....but I liked it. Just like Han and Dan's moves
