07.01.2022 Give em a choice. It was this filly’s first time being mounted with the saddle on this arvo. I chose to do it with no head gear and give her the option to leave if she felt the need to, she didn’t leave once (mounted from both side multiple times). She is a pretty strong willed but also sensitive, quite similar to my main gelding Dallas. I figured if I gave her the choice it would tell me if she was really with me or not and possibly give me the green light to go ahead and ...get on for our first ride (which we did), also in turn cause her to feel good about the deal rather than resent it. Believe me if you ‘make’ a horse like her do it, you’ll probably end up with a fight on your hands and builds resentment in the partnership. LK Inspired by @dthr_horsetraining
