18.01.2022 "Hi, this is my study area. I like it because it is my own space and super quiet. There is a shelf next to the desk with all the study materials, some water to keep myself hydrated and snacks (haha). Having everything I need around helps me focus and not wander around. However, I only place enough books and other material for one unit on the desk and put them back to the shelf before I work on the next one. And yes, dont forget the diary and study checklist that keep me on track with my study and other activities at uni" - Katherine

18.01.2022 Christine Steinmann I am a former veterinary surgeon, mother of five, and proud immigrant to and citizen of Australia. My passions are animals and people; I am combining the two by doing independent research on human rights and the environment. I am also passionate about uni. I loved coming back as a mature aged student. I have to admit I LIKED constitutional and administration law. I also like working with other students to show them how some of the seemingly mundane ea...rly building blocks, like learning the court hierarchy or statutory interpretation, get more interesting the further you progress in your studies. It is like learning to read; the first bit is hard, but what you can do with it later is fun. I also like showing students that they ARE capable. My strategy is to simplify and contextualise (meaning, explain why it is relevant later on!) concepts. QUT is pretty amazing, in that the professors really DO care. Take advantage of what is offered. Dont be afraid to ask. Oh and do stop by my sessions and say hello. It really DOES make my day! See more

16.01.2022 "Hi! Here is my study space. I have my desk near a window for fresh air and sunlight. I also have a candle that I light sometimes while studying. I like to keep my desk organised, and only have what I need. I have my textbooks, folders, note pads, laptop and my diary to ensure I never miss a piece of assessment. Studying from home full time does make it hard to stay productive. I find keeping to a daily routine and setting goals for each day helps me stay on track." - Teaghan

11.01.2022 ---------------------------------------------------------------- LLB HELP ME LAW PARTNER PROFILE ---------------------------------------------------------------- Hi everyone! Im Agalya, a fellow Law Partner for the LLB Help Me Program. Ive found the QUT law degree to be both challenging and enjoyable, particularly in the areas of Torts, Constitutional Law, and Legal Research. Apart from legal studies, I also enjoy maintaining an active lifestyle by setting aside time fo...r Pilates, which is all too often contested with my spontaneous baking sessions. Staying organised and keeping on top of weekly tasks would be the one piece of advice I have to offer at this point. This can be achieved by maintaining a diary and preparing regular to-do lists, which is how I have personally tackled the semesters. As the law degree can be quite overwhelming, I would also encourage students to reach out to others whenever you feel the need for support, as help is always available. So come have a chat with us during our zoom sessions, we are always looking forward to meeting more students!

02.01.2022 "Hi! this is my study area; its a desk I got from Officeworks. Ive had this desk since Ive started uni, and its been one of the only places Ive been able to study at. Studying at home has been a bit of a challenge lately. Now that Ive got all this extra time, I end up procrastinating, thinking its ages away until my assignments are due. Hopefully, now that the break is finished, I feel more pressured to get things done. I like to keep my desk clean so that way Im... not getting distracted by anything. I also like to have a drink nearby (usually water), and if Im hungry; usually a small snack to keep me going. You may notice I have a whiteboard behind my desk. To me, having that there is a must. its one of the main ways I stay organised. I really like the layout and the position of my desk; it reminds me a bit of those study desks in the law library (which are amazing). its whats works most for me, but if yours is different then thats okay! find a study space thatll keep you motivated. anyways I hope everyone is keeping safe and healthy during these times" :-) - Rupali

02.01.2022 LLB Help Me will be back with drop-in sessions and workshops next semester. In the meantime, we hope that all QUT students are enjoying a well-deserved break, and are recharging your batteries for another productive semester ahead. Well done to the students who are graduating! We would like to thank all those whove volunteered with the program over the years, as they move on to new challenges, with a special mention to Cecelia who has been a Law Partner for the past 3 semest...ers we wish you all the best! Finally, we would like to particularly acknowledge Lauren, who is also graduating. She was a driving force in the inception and design of LLB Help Me throughout 2016, and became the first student coordinator when the program commenced in 2017 a role she continued for 2018 and 2019. She spent countless hours managing and improving all aspects of LLB Help Me, as well as being actively involved in many other areas of QUT life. Thank you Lauren!
