22.01.2022 Bobby Greaves OAM, is also here with his kids activities. A Lang Lang legend who has been doing this since 2000.
20.01.2022 They say if you can remember the 60's you really didn't really live through them, here are a couple of pics of Lang Lang in the early 1960's for those who can't remember or those who came after. The first will eventually become the Supermarket. The second is the Kindergarten in Whitstable st. Third, the original Post Office on the corner of Cambridge Street, last is McDonalds Track heading up the hill toward the railway crossing.
19.01.2022 The Society's new calendar for 2020 is now out. It is in our opinion the best yet. In full colour and featuring aerial shots of the town and highlighting historic areas. It is available now, from the LL Post Office and the Society Display Centre during open hours. The cost is still only $10:00 each.
16.01.2022 The raffle was drawn last Tuesday. The lucky winner was our lovely lady Jacquie LAIDLAW. She isn't sure yet where it will be displayed at home, but it has gone to a good home. Thanks to the people at the post office for their help in displaying the prize and to everyone who bought tickets.
16.01.2022 The Society is at the Lang Lang show. Calendars are on special today,$5. Other publications also for sale.
13.01.2022 Hello All, It has been a while, But we have been busy researching the history of the Lang Lang RSL, in preparation for it's Centenary Celebrations. The more I dig around, the more I find to convince me it absolutely deserves to be Honoured for the work it has done in the last 100 years. The will be posts about this later when it is all over, and we can get back to normal. The main reason for getting out to you now is to let everyone know that the Display Centre will be CLOSED for the next two weeks or so. It is finally getting some sorely needed TLC. The roof is being cleaned and restored, spouting and fascia's repaired and all external timbers repainted. For this work to be done, it is officially a no-go zone for the public.
13.01.2022 While searching through the Kooweerup Sun of December 1919, looking for some interesting snippets about Christmas to post her, I was amazed that it seemed to be completely ignored. There were no commercial Christmas sales extravaganzas or super sales. Notices of Church services appeared to be the only recognition of the day, apart from the two notices below. The Society wish you all a Merry Christmas and will see you all when we reopen on the first Wednesday in February.
11.01.2022 as part of the Society's 20th Anniversary we are offering carriages rides around the town, highlighting the historic buildings and/or sites as we pass. Please join us and learn a bit more about our lovely town.
05.01.2022 A fresh, thick layer of mulch on our garden, to smarten it up for the open day on April 29th.
04.01.2022 Hello All, It has been a while (again) since the last post. We have recently been donated some significant acquisitions. The first is from a descendant of R.G. Gardiner, an original settler of Yannathan and a leading citizen of the area. It includes the Altar Cross and the Plaque honouring the original Trustees from the old Yannathan Union Church. There is also a brass jug presented to Mrs. Vera Gardiner for her many years of service to the Church and the Church Guild. From another donor, an old Singer treadle sewing machine, in excellent condition. Our latest newsletter is out now, if you would like to have a copy sent to you, email [email protected] with your details and we will send one out to you.
04.01.2022 The Society is pleased to announce that our 2019 calendar is complete and available for purchase at the Lang Lang Post Office. It will also be available from other sites yet to be determined. It features the Trestle Bridge over the Lang Lang River as the cover. COST is only $10:00 The quality and paper are the best we have produced yet. Contact us if you want one posted out.
