24.01.2022 So honoured and excited to be showing alongside the amazing artists with @lorrainepilgrimgallery @m.arts.precinct for the Art Knows No Borders group exhibition. Opening this Friday, we will be on exhibition for the next month or two so please pop in if your in the Northern Rivers area . I’m also thrilled to be hanging next to @mari.hirata.artist someone who I truly admire. Mari’s work is so ethereal and calm, we are like the yin and yang of the west wall.

23.01.2022 Loves Young Dream.. This title means so much to me. Apart from being in line with my fascination of youthful love and passion, it was a saying my Mum used often. If you were in love, she would ask you (me) How’s love’s young dream ...meaning the gorgeous young thing you were loving at that moment. She had so many sayings, I love being able to continue them on for my kids and now my paintings. ... More too come . 19.01.2022 This canvas has been a few things, it has featured in a previous post where I’m sitting in my studio - if you want to see how it started. I put it aside, pulled it back out, worked on it, wasn’t happy, put it away again..and so begins the life cycle of a painting. Today I pulled her out again, with fresh eyes and a different perspective and here we are. I think I love it now, I’m not quite sure. ... What I do know is the push and pull of a painting is so interesting. It’s a new challenge every time I turn up at the canvas, I will never get tired of this. Maybe it’s time to put her away again and then I’ll decide .

11.01.2022 Heart Racing #2.. I painted all three of the Heart Racing series when my heart was truly racing. Had just been told some serious news and the only way I could cope was to paint. Thankfully the news came good in the end, but I feel emotionally attached to these paintings, they are like little visual diaries of a moment in time. Such a societal-ecological balance informs the compositional approach within Skye’s romantic sensibility, where the goal is to harmonize competing tones and movement within each piece.

It’s also the best release when you need to get it all out. 06.01.2022 Commissions have been a huge part of my practice this year. Each one presents itself with a different story, a different reason and a different outcome. My latest commission piece has been no exception. As with every commission, it has pushed me to think about different ways to create something that speaks not only my language but the language of somebody else, I love that. I love this piece (as I love all of them) it’s light but oh so powerful at the same time. She will be ...moving to Melbourne and proudly sitting as a feature in her very gorgeous and oh so bustling new family room. If only I could visit every house to see them living life with their new families. Thank you @artloversaustralia for making these commissions come to life..

05.01.2022 It’s official.. she’s finished! Thank you for all the feedback and love.. this baby is now done. Calling this after another one of Mum’s sayings... Cream Buns. She used to always laugh and say Men don’t like free cream buns. It was a saying that was passed down from her Mum, who didn’t know what it meant either. I’m guessing it’s another saying for ‘play hard to get’.. who knows . This was basically how I was raised, with mysterious puns and phrases. No one really kn...ew what was going on.. I still don’t .
