24.01.2022 woop...just got notification that the parcel guy will be bringing me another box of SFX supplies today :D this time it's more blood (seriously, as an SFX makeup artist there's no such thing as "too much blood" LOL), tooth lacquer and some stuff I need to restock like adhesives and acetone. Only thing better than getting parcels with supplies is actually USING said supplies :D

24.01.2022 Alrighty! I was going to wait a few days to post these, but I suck at being patient lol so without further ado here are the (as yet unedited) results of Sunday's photoshoot with the incredibly talented Sophie Andrews (who for some reason my phone will not let me tag). Also my girl Alexa Morgan really brought the creepy to this twisted sister Selkie - so much so that Sophie said she got spine tingles (which is great, because hello, job done lol)! I will post a few more BTS shots and the backstory of this character later, and the final edited shots when Sophie is done with them I had SO much fun creating this character, and seeing her come to life is truly amazing.

22.01.2022 Restocked! Parcel postie looked most unsettled when he asked what was in the box and I said "oh, just a heap of blood and latex and stuff" lol

12.01.2022 When you get home from an incredible shoot with amazing people and even the BTS shots give you chills. I can't wait to be able to post the results of the shoot in a couple of days! Thank you so much to my models Alexa and Adam, and the very talented Sophie who caught it all on camera Everything came together perfectly (even without the teeth lol) - well done all!

11.01.2022 :cue angelic choir: it's here! Nice early morning surprise from the parcel postie, I wasn't expecting this for a few more days...but who's complaining? I'm obsessed with the packaging, and these colours are just amazing (sorry for the crap lighting in the swatch photo lol, I was just so excited to test the colours and I am LIVING for all the greens and shinies!) So nice to see greens in an eyeshadow palette, I feel like everything has been either smoky, neutral or blue/orange lately and green is one of my favourite colours. (Also, Jeffree being Jeffree, the shade names are a total hoot).

09.01.2022 No, her teeth are not really pink lol! Making a mold of her teeth that will become the basis for a set of scary prosthetic teeth.

09.01.2022 just after I got the plaster off her face. Now going to let this sit and cure for a bit while I go eat, and then I will come back and work on the teeth some more and get the actual lifecast started. For Alexa's facial prosthetic I'm going to need to do some sculpting and make a 2 part mold. There's a lot of waiting for things to dry or cure in between actually working on FX stuff lol - which is good because I can do other things while I wait.

08.01.2022 My day started at 3am...gonna be a long one! Current mood:

07.01.2022 I didn't break her, I promise! I couldn't stop working with the wet plaster gauze to get photos of the process, but this was shortly before it was dry enough to remove. This is a very quick and dirty way of making a lifecast - but for the project I'm working on with Alexa where we have a very short timeframe to get everything done, that's all I need. I don't need fine details on the lifecast because her prosthetic will not be going over her eyes or mouth, so having the general shape of her face is all I need for this one. She looks SO impressed here lol.

06.01.2022 the mold has hardened, here Alexa was testing it for fit and comfort after I trimmed it a bit.

05.01.2022 Swatching my new alcohol-activated palettes. Loving the good variety of skin, blood and bruise tones - there's a colour for just about everything in here, and whatever is missing can easily be mixed. Can already tell these are going to get a LOT of use

04.01.2022 Prep/BTS for an upcoming photoshoot, and eventually the pics from the finished shoot. I had about 12 days to design and create 2 characters from scratch for this one, I will post more details of the brief and why I chose the characters I did after the shoot is done.
