17.01.2022 Your WA COVID update - Saturday 11th April 2020 - Details from Press Conference with Commissioner of Police, Chris Dawson at 2.05pm today. Thank you to Zak... Kirkup MP for the information his office compiles each day which we add to for our regional requirements. Great News - No New Goldfields Cases Today WA by the Numbers. CONFIRMED CASES: 514 + 8 DEATHS: 6 - IN HOSPITAL: 39+ 5 IN ICU: 15 -2 RECOVERED: 216 +13 TESTED NEGATIVE: 21,591 + 953 - these are great numbers NEW CASES: 8 new cases - 3 from Artania cruise ship, 5 Metro Perth. Important for our region KALGOORLIE HEALTH CAMPUS (KHC): As advised yesterday 14 healthcare workers from KHC who are in iso after coming into contact with a confirmed COVID case. They will be in iso at home or in safe accomodation if needed. Hospital is fully operational & will be given additional resources over coming days to provide capacity. It is standard protocol to isolate those that have been in contact with a confirmed case. CURRENT REGIONAL BREAKDOWN - NO CHANGE Goldfields 6, (all Kalgoorlie-Boulder) Great Southern 9, Kimberley 17, Mid West 3, Pilbara 5, South West 9, Wheatbelt 9. TESTING: Is available at the Hospital. We are hoping for our own stand alone COVID-19 testing clinic but this doesn’t change the testing process. Testing has been expanded to anyone who has - Fever over 38’c, or Has had accute respiratory illness, like sore throat, coughing or shortness of breath. Please call ahead before you attend. COVID-19 Hotline - Call the hotline for all queries 13 26843 For the best source information you can also visit https://www.wa.gov.au/government/covid-19-coronavirus COMMUNITY CONTACT - As testing has been expanded and we are not seeing evidence of community contact yet, this is the best evidence people are adhering to rules, so thank you all for helping to slow the curve which will flatten the curve. FLIGHTS Flights into WA are now very limited. Virgin has suspended all flights into WA, this includes International, Interstate and Domestic. The Police Commissioner Chris Dawson is speaking with Qantas to ensure their are flights to get people back from WA and also home if they have been is Iso in Hotels or working here. The flights will be to major capital cities and this make take a few days. The Premier has also been talking to the Federal Govt about this as well and they are assisting. We also have WA people that need to get home too that have been either in Iso in other states after returning from overseas or are still stuck overseas due to Border closures or Airline cancellations. It is a complex situation and there are no flights into WA today from Interstate or Overseas. ROTTNEST ISLAND - remains a quarantine facility though WA Vasco Da Gama passengers can now return home as of yesterday . REMEMBER - People returning to WA that have done 14 days in the Eastern States have to do another 14 days here as we. And those returning to other Australian States may have to also do another 14 days depending on indivisible state rules. CHARGES To date 12 people have been charged with breaching ISO & Quarantine, a further 8 have been infringed for either breaching Social Distancing or Breaking Regional Exemptions. This is a good result in that there are so few infringement’s but Police are out and about so do the right thing or expect and fine or worse charges being laid EASTER HOLS: Advice from WA Police indicates people are generally doing the right thing. A reminder for fresh air you can visit the parks but please keep it quick, social distance and don't gather in groups of more than 2 unless you live in the same household. Police will shut these down if people aren't complying and fines apply. The reason camping is advised against is that resources in regional areas do not need to be stretched in different areas for people getting lost, bogged, running out of fuel or having an accident. We need our RFDS planes on standby not flying people who could of enjoyed staying at home for the weekend. Increased traffic in camping areas would occur as well & is not needed because other holiday options are not there. Instead of 30 families camping out we’ll have 1000. Camp at home and enter our camp at home competition for some prizes #backyardcampout BORDERS: Nothing is changing here, Regional Boundaries still apply and will do for sometime. Travel through these areas is for transport of goods, fuel or food, travelling to work & for health reasons only, returning to your place of residence because you have been away for work or health reasons. Returning children as part of parenting arrangements is allowed as well as some compassionate reasons such as having to be the primary carer for a family member or fleeing a dangerous home situation. If you are a WA resident returning from Interstate or Overseas be prepared to be in isolation for 14 days most likely at a hotel in PERTH not of your choice. If you are a FIFO worker from Interstate or Overseas you will also have to isolate for 14 days and you need to discuss with your employer your options not only for this swing but others. Relocating either yourself or with your family to WA and to the closest Regional location many be the most practical option so discuss this with them too. Remember as stated above Flights are getting more and more limited. MOVING AROUND Stay home unless it’s for Work you can’t do from home Shopping for food & supplies Medical needs you can’t attend to by Telehealth Picking up Medicines or Scripts you can’t get delivered Imagine how much your saving money on fuel - (which is another thing we are working on), you’re avoiding double demerit points too, saving on wear and tear on your tyres and keeping the km’s down on your car - Winning! CRUISE SHIPS : Artania not expected to depart until 18 April but this may evolve. The World cruise ship has been told to stay in international waters away from WA and are still no other vessels have indicating they intend to stop here. Happy Easter to you & all you care for
16.01.2022 UPDATE: ONLY PROFESSIONAL PROSPECTING PERMITTED IN WA The ABC has had a few people ask whether, now restrictions have been relaxed, prospecting/metal detecting ...is also permitted? The State Government says yes, but ONLY those self-employed mining tenement holders. "Prospectors who hold prospecting licences, special prospecting licences for gold, mining leases etc. need to work on their tenements to ensure their income. Therefore they would normally meet the requirements to gain an exemption from the travel restrictions on the basis they are going to work." Recreational prospectors do NOT meet the requirements around essential activities and are therefore not permitted. "Recreational or hobby prospectors with a Miners Right, including Mining Act Section 40E permit holders and fossickers, do not meet these requirements. "Travel for prospecting or fossicking purposes, whether by tenement holders or not, does not qualify as an essential activity for travel to or within Biosecurity Areas within WA."
