25.01.2022 Around one in five pregnancies ends in miscarriage before 20 weeks. It's not something that's talked about much nor is it formally recognised as either a birt...h or death. And those who've experienced early pregnancy loss often find themselves dealing with it alone, with no real way of expressing their grief. This won't be everyone's choice. But hopefully it'll help bereaved parents mourn the child they never got to meet.

25.01.2022 Riverina residents are being urged to be careful with concerns about a rise in Ross River Fever cases. Eighteen cases have been recorded in the Murrumbidgee Loc...al Health District during the first three weeks of the year, in a variety of locations but mostly in the west of the region. During the same period last year, there were less than five notified cases. The MLHD says ross river was last week detected in mosquitoes trapped around Griffith, but there have been no arbovirus detections in sentinel chickens. People are being urged to take measures to avoid mosquito bites, and to see their doctor if they have symptoms such as a fever, chills, headache, aches and pains.

24.01.2022 Good Evening Deni We have had numerous enquiries over the last few days about the changes that took place on 16th October and it seems like there seems to be i...nformation circulating that these changes allows greater gatherings with regards to private residences, gardens and outdoor functions. NOTHING has changed with regards to functions at private properties and only 20 people , at any one or given time, can be hosted in a private garden or home. Regardless of the reason for the function. Some things have certainly changed for some places and events, but these generally apply to commercial venues and events that are strictly regulated and controlled. As we are planning Christmas parties and events, make sure to stay within the rules. Very hefty fines still apply, so just want to make sure everyone has the correct information. For this information and more https://www.nsw.gov.au//what-you-can-and-cant-do-under-rul Press release about this :https://www.nsw.gov.au//covid-19-restrictions-eased-2020-1 https://gazette.legislation.nsw.gov.au/so/download.w3p The only changes that happened on 16th October relates to the following 4 things ONLY: 1. OUTDOOR MUSIC REHEARSALS OR PERFORMANCE A music rehearsal or performance of up to 500 people may be held in an outdoor public place. The organiser must complete and register a COVID-19 Safety Plan. Note too everyone needs to be seated and lots of other rules apply. 2. HOSPITALITY VENUES ( Such as clubs, restaurants) Hospitality venues are encouraged to use electronic entry recording for recordkeeping. Venues that use electronic systems for registering contact details may apply the one person per 2 square metre rule for outdoor areas, subject to maximum capacity limits. All premises must have a COVID-19 Safety Plan. 3. CORPORATE EVENTS, WEDDINGS, FUNERALS AND RELIGIOUS SERVICES Significant events held at hospitality venues that use electronic systems for registering contact details may apply the one person per 2 square metre rule for outdoor areas. As far as practicable possible, persons remain seated. All events must have a COVID-19 Safety Plan and provided there is sufficient space at the venue, the maximum capacity for these events is still 300 people for corporate events 150 people for weddings 100 people for funerals and religious services. PLEASE NOTE THAT CORPORATE EVENTS HAVE VERY SPECIFIC DEFINITIONS, RULES AND must be held at a hospitality venue registered for these purposes. 4. Travellers arriving from New Zealand From Friday 16 October, you do not need to enter mandatory quarantine when you fly from New Zealand into NSW, if you have not been in a New Zealand COVID-19 hotspot in the past 14 days. Stay safe and considerate and do not put yourself or others at risk! Feel free to share, so we can all make sure we have the correct information and our events and Christmas parties being planned remains stress free.

24.01.2022 NSW Health has been notified of venues visited by a confirmed case of COVID-19 in western NSW. The website will be updated with these case locations shortly. Th...e case is a man from western Sydney who was infected at the Berala BWS on Christmas Eve before travelling to Broken Hill, Orange and Nyngan while unknowingly infectious. He was identified as a close contact and asked by NSW Health to be tested. This case will be reported in tomorrow’s figures. Anyone who attended the following venues is a close contact who must get tested immediately and isolate for 14 days, regardless of the result: - Broken Hill: Gourmet Cribtin, 305 Argent St, Saturday, 2 January, 10.40am 11.20am - Orange: Birdie Noshery and Drinking est. 120-122 Summer Street, Sunday, 3 January, 12.30pm 2pm Anyone who has attended the following venue at the following times is a casual contact and must immediately get tested and isolate until a negative result is received, and continue to monitor for symptoms and test again if any symptoms develop: - Nyngan: Nyngan Riverside Tourist Park, Barrier Hwy and Mitchell Hwy, Saturday, 2 January to Sunday, 3 January Anyone who attended the following service stations must monitor for symptoms and if they appear, immediately get tested and isolate until a negative result is received: - Broken Hill: Broken Hill Shell, 164 Williams St, Saturday, 2 January, 10.52am 10.55am - Nyngan: Nyngan BP, 180 Mitchell Hwy Nyngan on Sunday, 3 January, 9.10am 9.13am More venues may be added to this list, so please ensure you monitor the NSW Government website for further additions: https://www.health.nsw.gov.au//case-locations-and-alerts.a Additional testing capacity is being made available at the Laverty Drive-through service at the Orange Showground from this afternoon from 12.30pm and at the Orange Hospital’s Fever Clinic from 12pm. Additional testing will also be available at Nyngan at the Big Bogan statue, at 70 Pangee St, this afternoon from 2pm and again tomorrow from 9am to 5pm. In Broken Hill, the drive-through testing clinic at the Broken Hill Community Centre reopened today and will be open until 4pm tonight, then every weekday from 8am to 4pm. There are more than 350 COVID-19 testing locations across NSW, many of which are open seven days a week. To find your nearest clinic visit: https://www.nsw.gov.au//how-to-protect-yourself-an/clinics or contact your GP. NSW Health urges anyone in NSW with even the mildest symptoms, such as headache, fatigue, cough, sore throat or runny nose, to come forward immediately for testing, then isolate until they receive a negative result.

24.01.2022 Morning Deni Changes today will mean we can now travel freely between NSW and most states. No more permits needed. Visit this site for restrictions that still... apply on visits at homes and social gatherings. 23.01.2022 Morning Deni Today is the last day the old CT scanner will be used in Deniliquin. Murrumbidgee Local Health District are progressing with the installation of a... new CT Scanner at Deniliquin Health Service. With a workload of approximately 240 examinations per month the current CT machine installed in 2011, is coming to the end of its usage expectancy. Doing some quick maths, this CT scanner would have performed close to 29 000 scans over the past 10 years. The upgrade will see the removal of the old CT machine, refurbishment of the imaging room including upgrade of power supply and air conditioning, followed by the installation of a new Canon Aquilion Prime SP CT Scanner. The new CT Scanner will keep the department up-to-date with contemporary imaging practice, providing a state of the art service for the people of our region, said Anthony O’Donnell, Manager Medical Imaging. The upgrade will also allow us to perform CT scans faster, with higher quality images and reduced radiation dose to the patient. The planned upgrade will commence tomorrow, on November 6th and will take approximately 2 weeks. An alternate provider has been contracted to provide CT scanning services for Emergency and Inpatients who require urgent CT scans over the upgrade period. Pictured here is Anthony O'Donnell bidding his farewell to this CT scanner that has served our community well.

17.01.2022 NSW Health is urging people to take precautions with heatwave conditions forecast to continue for parts of the state this weekend. Simple ways to reduce the ris...k of heat-related illness include: Avoid the heat of the day by staying indoors and keeping cool by using air-conditioning, fans and drawing blinds and curtains closed Keep hydrated by drinking plenty of water Check on the welfare of vulnerable neighbours, friends and family Plan ahead for hot days. Signs of heat related illness include dizziness, tiredness, irritability, thirst, fainting, muscle pains or cramps, rapid pulse, shallow breathing, vomiting and confusion. People showing severe signs should seek urgent medical attention and, in an emergency situation, call Triple Zero (000). People should also continue to practise COVID-19 safe behaviour during the heatwave. If you are able to cool your home through a combination of fans, air-conditioning and closed blinds, please do so and stay at home. This is so physical distancing in other indoor spaces where people may seek relief from the heat, such as libraries or shopping centres, is not compromised. If you do leave your home to visit other indoor spaces, please physically distance and wear a face mask in places where you cannot maintain 1.5 metres distance from others. Keep in touch with relatives, neighbours and friends virtually through phone, social media or video call.

14.01.2022 Good afternoon Deni URGENT POST UPDATE MONDAY 04/01/21 @ 2.30 PM PLEASE HOLD OFF ON TRAVEL TO MELBOURNE UNLESS URGENT Please go back to original post this m...orning for this to make sense. Following our post this morning publishing information received from the Victorian Cross Border commissioner, supported by a social media post by Tim Mc Curdy MP and shared by ERC, there now seems to be discrepancies in this information. The media has been reporting on it since Tim Mc Curdy shared his post, and this has now been brought to our attention. Essentially it boils down to the Cross Border Commissioner and DHSS (the border permit people) not being on the same page. DHHS is reportedly saying the border permits are only valid in the border region. To be honest, they have done nothing to clarify this by providing a definitive answer when you call the hotline; have asked for calls to be escalated and for them to return a phone call on 4 occasions. DHHS were going to address it in their FAQ (which was supposed to be updated overnight, but was not) and further to this there are NO border permits available for us to apply for special permits or exemptions on their website. So quite unsure how they propose to address all the issues ( should we not be able to travel outside of border) when they have nothing in place yet with regards to permits, directives or exemptions. Obviously, the information published today is now sparking them into action and we hope we are able to get very clear directives from DHHS very soon. However in the absence of this can we ask/ suggest that unless your travel to Melbourne ( or out of bubble) is urgent , that you just HOLD OFF on that and other arrangements, until we are able to see what happens with this issue which as we hope they will come with a co-ordinated response in the next 4-6 hours. And then hopefully we can have clarity on this issue. We cannot tell you what to do, but can only continue to share information as we have it. We will keep you updated. We continue to use information that we receive from reliable sources as well as we can . The NSW Border Commissioner have now confirmed that they are awaiting a clear directive on this, despite the fact that yesterday they referred me to the Victorian Cross Border commissioner for information. Thanks Deni - just hang in there and we will let you know what is happening ASAP.

13.01.2022 Morning Deni Please read and share. Numerous conversations have been had over the past two weeks around concerns of people travelling outside of the border reg...ion on their border region resident permit. People are either blatantly abusing this permit, or for some, not understanding the use of this permit. The border region resident permit allows you to travel for any reason within the border region. This permit can of course be used for medical appointments in the border region and no additional documents are needed. When applying for this, you agree to stay in the border region. Click here to check if where you are travelling to is in the border region. If it is not, this permit does not apply. https://www.service.nsw.gov.au/border-zone-address-check Not getting caught does not make it OK! This permit requires self regulation and a trust in the applicant to do the right thing. Leaning to live with COVID will mean a collective responsibility. Many of us are hoping to be able to spend Christmas with our families. This will only happen if we continue to minimise risk , staying safe and doing the right thing. If anyone is unsure of the permit restrictions, Services NSW is willing and able to help. We will happily continue to clarify. Please let’s all stay safe and stay kind.

12.01.2022 Residents of Broken Hill are being advised to get tested for coronavirus after a man from Berala in Sydney travelled through the region. The man had been on a c...amping trip and passed through Orange, Nyngan and Broken Hill while unknowingly infectious. NSW Health urges anyone who attended the following venues is a close contact who must get tested immediately and isolate for 14 days, regardless of the result: ** TIMES/DURATIONS UPDATED 5/1/21 at 10.30pm** Broken Hill: Gourmet Cribtin, 305 Argent St, Saturday, 2 January, 12 noon - 2pm (CST) Orange: Birdie Noshery and Drinking est. 120-122 Summer Street, Sunday, 3 January, 12pm 2pm Anyone who has attended the following venue at the following times is a casual contact and must immediately get tested and isolate until a negative result is received, and continue to monitor for symptoms and test again if any symptoms develop: Nyngan: Nyngan Riverside Tourist Park, Barrier Hwy and Mitchell Hwy, Saturday, 2 January to Sunday, 3 January Anyone who attended the following service stations must monitor for symptoms and if they appear, immediately get tested and isolate until a negative result is received: Broken Hill: Broken Hill Shell, 164 Williams St, Saturday, 2 January, 10.52am 10.55am Nyngan: Nyngan BP, 180 Mitchell Hwy Nyngan on Sunday, 3 January, 9.10am 9.13am More venues may be added to this list, so please ensure you monitor the NSW Government website for further additions: https://www.health.nsw.gov.au//case-locations-and-alerts.a In Broken Hill, the drive-through testing clinic at the Broken Hill Community Centre reopened today and will be open until 4pm tonight, then every weekday from 8am to 4pm. 10.01.2022 Morning Deni PLEASE READ AND SHARE IT REALLY IS IMPORTANT ... Much has been said about keeping Deni safe during Covid. And a lot is being said in the media about escalating mental health needs. Looking after our own mental health and helping others is really important in keeping safe. Being able to reach out and offer support to anyone who might be needing mental health support is one of the kindest and most helpful things we can do. When someone is in crisis always use Accessline. You can support them by making a call with them or provide the information they need to take the next step. We sometimes feel unsure not knowing where to start. Deni MHAG has created an excellent website, where you can find out how to help someone or how to start the process of getting help for yourself or someone else. This is user friendly, has all local resources and easy to navigate. All we are asking for you as a community is to take 5 minutes of your time and jump on to look at this resource. www.denimentalhealth.org.au Let’s continue to work together to keep Deni safe and caring and compassionate.

10.01.2022 Good morning Deni, With COVID-19 on your mind, some things may have been forgotten like your bowel screening test kit. Have you received your bowel screening ...test in the mail recently? Now is the time to tick bowel screening off your to-do list. It could save your life. Not sure or feeling uncomfortable about doing this? Here is some information that might help. BOWEL CANCER SCREENING The National Bowel Cancer Screening Program aims to reduce deaths from bowel cancer by detecting the early signs of the disease. Eligible Australians from 50 to 74 years of age are sent a free, simple test that is done at home every two years. Why test for bowel cancer? Screening is one of the most effective ways to detect early signs of bowel cancer. When found early, most bowel cancer cases can be successfully treated in more than 90% of cases. Bowel cancer is Australia’s second biggest cancer killer. It kills more people in NSW than prostate cancer, breast cancer or melanoma. Despite this, currently only 38% of eligible people in NSW take part in the National Bowel Cancer Screening Program (the Program). How does the test work? The bowel cancer screening test is a clean and simple test that you do at home, which looks for very small amounts of blood in the bowel motion (faeces or poo) that may be a sign of bowel cancer or other bowel problems. It is known as an immunochemical faecal occult blood test or iFOBT. If you have received a test kit don’t leave it in a drawer. Do the free test today. With more time at home it’s never been easier. If you have misplaced or thrown your kit away call the Infoline on 1800 118 868 for a replacement kit. If you are still unsure, you can always speak to your GP clinic or pharmacist about this anytime.

07.01.2022 Good Morning Deni Tuesday 05/01/21 at 8.15 am We promised to update you on the information we have. ... We want to assure you we understand the frustration and confusion around this and are doing what we can to help. Unfortunately, we do not have explicit clarity on the travel south of the bubble issue. We are however, providing all of the links to information, to enable to everyone to make their own decisions as to how you want to interpret this and how you want to proceed with your arrangements. We do have information around medical appointments and exemptions and will share that. For those who want to wait for us to try and get an unambiguous, explicit answer, we will keep you updated. DHHS PRESS RELEASE 04/01/21 Full press release here https://www.dhhs.vic.gov.au/coronavirus-update-victoria-4-j Unfortunately, DHHS has persisted to not be explicit in their communication with regards to whether NSW border residents can travel OUTSDIE of the border bubble going south (for example to Melbourne or Geelong) despite numerous requests through so many channels. This is their press release yesterday and, in our opinion, this is still not clear in the section they address border residents. They talk about are able to travel as they would for their normal day to day activities like work or shopping and eating out , but do NOT explicitly address travel outside the border bubble going south. We quote : The Cross-Border Commissioner has completed his review of the border bubble arrangements between Victoria and New South Wales, and determined that the current arrangements are appropriate - with the addition of a permit system to ensure agriculture workers can continue to cross the border to complete their critical work. People who live in a border community must carry a valid form of ID with a current address when travelling. Residents from the border bubble who have been beyond the NSW border region in the past 14 days will not be able to cross the border from NSW into Victoria - but provided they meet this criteria, both NSW and Victorian border residents are able to travel as they would for their normal day to day activities like work, shopping and eating out. We ARE AWARE THAT SEVERAL NEWS SITES HAVE PUBLISHED THAT TRAVEL SOUTH OF THE BUBBLE IS ALLOWED WITH ONLY OUR ID. We have not been able to ascertain their sources, but once again, it is up to every individual which advice they want to follow and how they make their decisions. Here is what we could find. You will notice that when quoted they all just quote the bit above and then make their own deductions. Some say travel anywhere and some like Bendigo Advertiser say within border bubble only. https://www.portnews.com.au//nsw-bubble-residents-able-t/ https://www.canberratimes.com.au//nsw-bubble-residents-a/ https://www.dailyadvertiser.com.au//wagga-residents-free-/ https://www.bendigoadvertiser.com.au//what-can-residents-/ The PT also today said : a change yesterday allows residents in these eligible communities to go anywhere in Victoria. Some of the articles who are saying we can go anywhere in Victoria also says that DHHS has asked people to only do this if essential or needed. The Covid Hotline has provided different advice to different people. We remind you what we did receive from the Victorian Cross Border Commissioner 48 hours ago . NSW Cross Border Community Member is permitted to travel into Victoria beyond the so-called border bubble. The current Directions provide no limitation to southern travel for such people. However, the directions also make very clear that should such a person travel north of the bubble into NSW then they lose any right to cross into Victoria with their photo ID at all for 14 days. What is VERY CLEAR is that we cannot cross into Victoria at all as border residents if we have been outside the bubble in NSW zone in the past 14 days. A reminder here is the bubble link: https://www.coronavirus.vic.gov.au/travel-restrictions-new- LHAC COMMENT: WE ARE NOT IN A POSITION TO PROVIDE DEFINITIVE DIRECTIVES ON THIS, BUT WOULD CERTAINLY ENCOURAGE PEOPLE TO STRONGLY CONSIDER REASONS FOR TRAVEL OUTSIDE OF THE BUBBLE AND TO CONSIDER WHETHER IT IS ESSENTIAL OR NOT. B. MEDICAL TREATMENT People may cross the border without a permit to provide, receive or accompany a dependant who is to receive emergency or essential medical care or other urgent care. This does not include ordinary child-minding. Carrying a medical certificate/ letter from a physician is strongly recommended. https://www.coronavirus.vic.gov.au/victorian-border-crossin ( under key points) LHC COMMENT : No permit is needed. Both the permit scheme direction and this page references this provision. For those who keep being told you need a permit to go to Melbourne to see specialist, it does not exist. (yet) We believe this is clear and that people will be able to access medical care (even in Melbourne) without a permit (as it states above) We recommending checking with the place that your appointment is with, if you are able to attend from NSW. Once again, if you have received advice contrary to this, you can make your own decisions. We are just providing links for those needing confirmation or information. C. EXEMPTIONS These are some reasons for exemptions: seeking to enter Victoria for the purposes of: attending a funeral or end of life event; or if a prohibited person owns or has responsibilities in relation to an animal, to meet obligations to sustain the life and wellbeing of that animal; or returning to the person’s ordinary place of residence for health, wellbeing, care or compassionate reasons; or an emergency relocation; or military transfers; and To start the exemption process you have to call the Covid Hotline on 1800 675 398 LHAC reference for both medical advice and exemptions are from the NSW BORDER CROSSING PERMIT SCHEME DIRECTION ( No 6) This came into effect midnight on 03/01/21. For most people this will be too overwhelming and too complex to understand an follow, but are providing it as a means of it being the official document people are using to interpret rules. Here is the link to the full NSW Border Crossing Permit Scheme Directions (No. 6) (Word) https://www.dhhs.vic.gov.au//NSW%20Border%20Crossing%20Per 1. CROSS BORDER RESIDENTS appear on page6 , clause 6. 2. EXEMPTIONS Are addressed on page 9 clause 6 3. ESSENTIAL MEDICAL CARE appears on page 7 Subclause 8 FINAL SUMMARY: as border zone residents we are exempt from permits and can definitely access all of the border zone in Victoria (provided we have not been out the bubble in NSW for the past 14 days). Some of the references to NSW border residents entering Victoria refers to the bubble specifically and others do not. If you are planning to travel south of the Vic Bubble, you will have to make your own decision as to which way you want to read and interpret this. We hope this helps people to make their own decisions if they need to. Take care and stay safe and keep checking the page for updates.

05.01.2022 Hi Deni POST 23 January 6 am As promised, following up from our update last night, here are the official links to the information about: ... 1. All of regional NSW being in the green zone now. As NSW border residents we are exempt from applying for permit if we are or have been in green zone and we just continue to cross border using our ID (THUS NO CHANGE FOR MOST OF US: JUST USE ID) See this link and scroll down for map of current zones and information on permits . There is also a list of LGA's and their zones. https://www.coronavirus.vic.gov.au/victorian-travel-permit- THE FOLLOWIING ONLY APPLIES IF YOU HAVE BEEN TO AN ORANGE ZONE : 2. AS cross border residents , if we have been in ORANGE zone in past 14 days, you can cross the border into Victoria. a. The website says we are required to apply for an orange zone permit , and follow the instructions on that ( get tested within 72 hours , self isolate till negative test result) b. The New Victorian Border Crossing Permit Directions (No 4 which commenced at 11:59:00pm on 22 January 2021 still says that even if we have been in an orange zone, we can cross using our ID only, provided we have received a test upon arrival back from an orange zone and it is negative Clause 7 pg 11 https://www.dhhs.vic.gov.au//Victorian%20Border%20Crossing ESSENTIALLY our understanding of this is Victoria would like for those who have been in orange zone, to have a test and be negative prior to travelling into Victoria, and /or to cross the border with an orange zone permit, and to get tested within 72 hours, self isolate till a negative test is received. As always, we provide the information, and you are then able to make your own decisions based on what we have provided. Safe travels and stay cool.
