24.01.2022 As we move into this weekend, we wish to reinforce Mid Coast Councils advice urging swimmers and surfers to staying out of the water. We are seeing debris wash up along our coastline, mixed with poor water quality - Surf clubs in our branch have all been advised to adhere to the council and national parks warnings. This means that you will likely see no swimming areas on our beaches. It is highly unlikely that any red/yellow flags will be up so stay away for your own health.... Our teams will still be out in force between Crowdy Head and Pacific Palms, however, don’t put their health and safety at risk just because you want a swim. To learn more, read the attached article. https://www.surflifesaving.com.au//beach-closures-expected

23.01.2022 This morning at 0848am SLSNSW was alerted by NSW Police of 2 people in trouble in Smiths Lake stuck on a sand bar. LNC Duty Officer 11 was advised of the situation. The branch emergency response system was activated tasking Pacific Palms Call Out Team to render assistance by means of an IRB. LNC Duty Officer 15 was then tasked to manage the incident. Pacific Palms IRB crew safely arrived on scene rendering assistance. The canoe and 2 patients were safely bought to land where ...our Duty Officer and local RMS Boating Officers were waiting. At present Mid Coast Council have opened the entrance to Smiths Lake causing hazardous conditions in the lake and off the beach. Residents and visitors are reminded that council has advised all spectators to not enter the water said Dave (LNC15). He continued to say that the palms crew performed outstandingly and did an amazing job. See the post below from Pacific Palms slsc about the exciting fact that it was the first time in the clubs history an all female crew performed the rescue. Well done to all involved.

23.01.2022 Beach-goers are being assured it is safe to return to the water - after videos emerged of a shark feeding frenzy off Old Bar.

22.01.2022 SEVERE TO EXTREME HEATWAVE - #NSW An intense November heatwave is expected to affect large parts of the state for the last week of the month and persist int...o early December as a slow moving and very hot air mass pools over the region. Temperatures are expected to be more typical of a mid-summer heatwave rather than late spring, with the temperature expected to soar into the mid to high 40s across some inland areas over consecutive days. Western parts of NSW are expected to scorch, with towns such as #Bourke, #Wilcannia, #Walgett and #WhiteCliffs likely to see at least 5-6 consecutive days of 40+ temperatures and some locations possibly longer. Bourke may reach up to 46 on Sunday and Tuesday. Whilst some may think these temperatures over inland areas are typical, for this time of year they are very unusual (generally occurring in January and February), with only November 2009 and 2014 seeing similar heat. The slopes, ranges and eastern plains (#Dubbo, #Moree, #Tamworth etc) will feel the worst of the heat a little later, with the hottest airmass affecting these regions from the weekend and into early December, with temperatures into the high 30s and low to mid 40s. Further east will be spared the worst heat, with weak southerly changes preventing heat from persisting over consecutive days. #Sydney will see it’s hottest days this weekend reaching the mid 30s in the city, and up to 42 in the west. The hot airmass is expected to break down over the east of the country within the first week of December due to a cold front and an increase of moisture, showers and storms. 22.01.2022 On Thursday December 10th, the state operations center received reports of a possible missing person located off Old Bar Beach. Shortly after receiving the call, LNC Duty Officer Julie Wilcox activated Taree Old Bars call out team. Members - J. Lynch & M. Cameron responded utilising the clubs inflatable rescue boat. Other agencies that responded were NSWPolice, NSWAmbulance and Westpac Rescue Helicopter from Newcastle.... Upon completion of a search, no person was located. This incident highlights the importance of surf life saving to local communities and how agencies work together to benefit all.

22.01.2022 This week the branch saw its delivery of our first beach jetski trailer. Today members of support operations and palms call out team were on hand to build the trailer. Through the procurement of this trailer we hope that it will ease launch and recovery of support ski 3. This is just one of two major enhancements that the branch is making to support its rwc fleet and operational requirements. In the coming months we hope to share some news on upgrading our RWC response pontoon facility. Stay tuned.

22.01.2022 This afternoon around 315pm LNC11 was advised of reports of a capsized vessel off Old Bar Beach. Upon advice from LNC11, Surfcom activated Taree Old Bar slsc club call out team to respond along with LNC16. Upon arrival on the scene it was reported that the capsized vessel was actually a dead whale. Please be mindful that in the coming days whilst the dead whale is in our region, there is the likelihood of increased shark activity. Please use the water with caution.

20.01.2022 ISOLATION RISK FOR MID NORTH COAST - NSW SES Up to 1,000 people are facing isolation in the coming days as dangerous floodwaters swamp roads and bridges aro...und #Taree, #Wauchope, #Wingham and #Laurieton. Persistent rain combined with recent storms has filled already saturated rivers and creeks, causing some communities to be cut off around the Manning, Lansdowne, Hastings and Camden Haven catchments. NSW SES Northern Zone Commander Chief Superintendent Steve Patterson says that it’s not over yet with the possibility that rivers and other watercourses might rise rapidly over the coming days. This means that there’s the chance roads and bridges could be flooded, but also areas next to rivers such as camping grounds, said Ch Supt Patterson. Both residents and holiday-makers must be aware of the area that they’re staying in and know their flood risk. Most importantly, never drive, walk or ride through floodwater. You put yourself and your family at risk, not to mention the NSW SES volunteers and other emergency service personnel who have to come to your rescue. The NSW State Emergency Service is advising that: If your property is at risk of inundation, please raise moveable items, such as furniture, as high as possible onto benches or tables, placing electrical items on top If you live in a low-lying area and are advised by an emergency services officer to evacuate, please do so Secure outside belongings and before leaving; turn off the power, water and take essential medicines and clothes with you Consider the impact of possible road closures and flood isolation on (health and safety), work, family, and educational commitments If you require emergency help, call the NSW SES on 132 500. www.ses.nsw.gov.au

20.01.2022 #MESSAGE // Surf Life Saving NSW has announced that it is bringing forward the end of the patrol season by four weeks. The Board of Surf Life Saving NSW (SLSNS...W) says that effective immediately, all patrols by volunteer surf lifesavers on NSW beaches will be cancelled for the remainder of the season. The unprecedented decision was made to protect the safety and welfare of volunteer surf lifesavers from potential infection by the COVID-19 virus and to discourage large gatherings of people on popular beaches. In place of beach patrols by surf lifesavers, enhanced Support Operations including jetskis and rescue boats will provide a roving presence, emergency callout teams will be on standby to respond, complemented by surveillance patrols using drones. SLSNSW President George Shales would like to sincerely thank our members and those who will be covering callout team surveillance patrols for the remainder of the season. "Surf Life Saving has been around for 113 years, we will get through this and I look forward to seeing you all on the beaches at the end of this - stay safe."

20.01.2022 Today marks 1 year since our tragic fire season started. A massive shout out to all our SLS Volunteers that assisted in the surf life saving response and to those that also volunteer or work alongside our emergency service partners. Fingers crossed this fire season is not like the last.

20.01.2022 More than 4.2 million Australians have inadvertently been caught in a rip at some point in their lives. Here is what you need to know should you ever find yours...elf stuck in a rip. The best way to escape a rip current entirely is to swim at a patrolled beach between the red and yellow flags. You can find more information at www.beachsafe.org.au #WaterSafety #DrowningPrevention

19.01.2022 PSA Within the last week a rescue tube (pictured below) has fallen off the back of our rescue water craft (JetSki) that is located around the Forster area. We know it’s a long shot, but if it washes up on a beach in the Great Lakes area, please return it to any of the surf life saving clubs, lifeguards, or Marine Rescue Forster.

19.01.2022 Please share. Pacific Palms slsc have had 2 community defibrillators removed from their locations at Blueys Shops and Coomba park in the last 24hrs. These devices were crowd funded by the local communities and are tried upon to help saves lives both at Coomba Park and Pacific Palms. Anyone with information please contact Pacific Palms Surf Life Saving Club or Manning-Great Lakes Police District... If these defibrillators were used on a patient please advise the surf club so they can come and collect. Help save a life and look for these items.

19.01.2022 SEVERE STORM RISK SHIFTS EAST - Bureau of Meteorology Today’s focus of thunderstorm activity shifts further north and east. 17.01.2022 Today during our Newcastle Permanent Lower North Coast Branch Championships, we paused to acknowledge and recognise members of all surf clubs in the branch and support operations personnel who played a pivotal role during the 2019-2020 bushfire response. Our organisation was task to evacuate members of our community by water, both on beaches and on our lakes and rivers. Today we acknowledge the 60 members of our branch that were at either a stage ground, in the Emergency Ope...ration Centre (EOC) or providing administrative support to those in the EOC. Congratulations to all members today. Photos will be posted shortly. Special Thank You to Mayor David West of Mid Coast Council who presented these awards on behalf of the Barrington Coast communities and the State Government.

17.01.2022 With the announcement of all Mid Coast beaches being closed as of tomorrow evening, we would like to remind the public to stay home and be safe over this long weekend period. Our club call out teams, Support Operations members (including Rwc/Jetskis, UAVs and Duty Officers) continue to be on standby and participate in regular weekend water based patrols to ensure the coastlines is safe. We plead that members of the public follow the directions given under the Health Act by ...MCC Rangers and NSW Police. Your safety should be your top priority.

17.01.2022 At approximately 415pm, the Surf Life Saving State Operations Centre was contacted by NSW Police requesting assistance with reports of 1 male suffering from heart attack symptoms at Kataway Hill, Myall Lakes. Pacific Palms slsc call out team along with LNC Duty officers were tasked to respond. Pacific Palms transported an irb to the location along with medical equipment. Upon arrival at Neranie boat ramp, they quickly launched the IRB who, after a short search found the loca...tion, assessed the patient and conveyed the POI to awaiting paramedics from NSW Ambulance along with officers attached to Manning Great Lakes Police District. Pacific Palms IRB along with NSW SES (Pacific Palms Forster unit), who was called upon to assist Palms irb, with the conveyance of another 10 persons from the same kayaking group. The patient was conveyed to hospital. All other persons were returned to the boat ramp without any injury. It is a timely reminder that when enjoying activities along the NSW Coastline, Rivers and Lakes that individuals and groups ensure they bring a mobile phone or emergency beacon with them incase something happens said Nathan de Rooy, Director of Lifesaving Lower North Coast Branch. It is in events like this, when a loved one is in need of medical assistance, that a mobile phone becomes handy whilst on the water. The conditions on the lake weren’t ideal for all emergency services, however, the weather didn’t stop all agencies involved said LNC Duty officer Dave Ellis. This afternoons incident highlights the need to be prepared when undertaking water based activities. Furthermore, this multiagency response showcases how all emergency services in the area work together, building on each other’s knowledge and skills to benefit the community. 15.01.2022 Prime Minister, Scott Morrison, implores people, especially young men, to do the right thing and take heed of the safety messages highlighted by Surf Life Savin...g Australia and Royal Life Saving Society Australia to prevent drowning. In this personal message, he asks people to swim sober, wear a lifejacket when boating, rock fishing or paddling, and swim on a patrolled beach between the flags, just a few of the simple safety tips that can make all the difference and keep everyone safe. None of us is invincible. All of us are irreplaceable to the ones we love. Words that are hard to argue with. Take care and stay safe this summer. Read more: bit.ly/NCSR-2020 #NDR2020 #NCSR2020

15.01.2022 Lifesavers recognised with NSW Police citations. On Saturday June 22, 2019 a married couple was rescued by surf lifesavers and treated for hypothermia and other injuries after they were washed off rocks at Boomerang Beach near Forster, NSW. The couple were part of a group of four people rock fishing at around 11.30am on Saturday when a large wave struck the rocks. It swept the man, 31, and the 29-year-old woman out to sea.... Surf Life Saving Duty Officer, Richard Ellery, said the couple were both wearing life jackets at the time the rogue wave swept them off the rocks. The remaining members of their party raised the alarm. Emergency services responded to a call to Triple Zero, including teams from Lower North Coast Surf Life Saving, Police, NSW Ambulance and the Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter. Conditions at the time of the incident were cold and very dangerous with high winds and large sea swells. Duty Officer Richard Ellery rescued the couple by jetski, locating them floating about 100 metres from shore. A Surf Life Saving IRB (inflatable rescue boat) was also deployed as part of Surf Life Saving’s response. The pair were retrieved and taken to the Pacific Palms SLSC at Elizabeth Beach for treatment. The woman suffered a fractured left leg and the man had a badly lacerated arm. Both were treated for hypothermia. The lifesavers involved in this rescue were recognised for their efforts today by NSW Police at a ceremony held at Cape Hawke SLSC. 15.01.2022 Update on Taree Flood Effort Surf Life Saving NSW response teams supported by Lower North Coast and Central Coast branches undertook multiple tasking’s working closely alongside Marine Rescue NSW. This morning saw teams deployed with Fire Rescue NSW into the Bohnock Mitchell Island area supporting FRNSW crews and with welfare checks of the isolated communities.... Whilst this was occurring other teams were working MRNSW to conduct food supply drops via water and assist with minor evacuations into Taree. Another team assisted with transporting food from evac centres out to the airport crew. Into the afternoon, after a well earnt lunch break, saw both Marine Rescue NSW and Lifesaving personnel conducting welfare checks and damage identification in the Harrington Crowdy Head area. MRNSW conducted this via water, whilst SLS teams in fully marked vehicles and clothing were introducing themselves through a door to door spot checks on community members. These welfare checks were to ensure community members were safe and to remind them to contact Triple 000 in an emergency or 132 500 for the SES. Our teams also provided weather updates so community members could make informed decisions over the coming days.

15.01.2022 Boaters need to exercise extreme caution if they are thinking of heading out on the water in coming days. Heavy rain continues to fall on the North Coast and th...e Illawarra is also being drenched this morning. Flood debris - such as this vegetation being torn from the dunes behind Byron Bay's iconic beach - will pose a serious navigation hazard to boats, particularly when submerged. Navigation markers may have been dislodged on coastal waters and channels and sand banks may have changed so a careful watch is required. The hazardous Nambucca bar requires skippers to exercise caution at the best of times but was being belted by a large swell yesterday afternoon. Remember the boating rule: if in doubt, don't go out. If you do go out, ensure you Log On with Marine Rescue NSW via VHF Channel 16 or the free Marine Rescue App and that everyone on board is wearing a lifejacket. Photos: Marine Rescue Cape Byron Unit Commander Terry Sandon and Marine Rescue Nambucca Unit Commander Gary Nichols.

14.01.2022 Today branch personnel attended Black Head, Taree Old Bar and Crowdy Head surf clubs to inspect all lifesaving equipment in the lead up to the 2020/21 season. All three clubs are looking forward to serving their communities and are excited for the season ahead. Tomorrow Forster, Cape Hawke and Pacific Palms will go through their annual lifesaving equipment inspection compliance checks.

14.01.2022 With large swell over the past week and conditions set to improve in the coming days, we urge the public to adhere to local warnings, seek advice from relevant organisation such as Marine Rescue for boaters, surfers/rock fisherman seek advice from beachsafe.org Always advise a friend or family member of your location and return time incase you do get into trouble and fail to return, emergency services can be contacted. Stay safe so we can stay safe.

14.01.2022 In a short few hours both Grace and Camden will be taking part in their SLSNSW Junior Lifesaver of the Year interviews. This year the interviews are being conducted via ZOOM with the face to face camp being held in the future. We wish them all the best. With the virus causing havoc around the country still, it’s great to see the interviews and award can still go ahead via video conferencing. I look forward to sitting on the interview panel for the second year. Best of luck to all said Nathan de Rooy, branch director of lifesaving and panelist.

11.01.2022 SLSNSW and Australian UAV Service have opened up applications for the 2020/21 season. If you have a passion for flying drones, a desire to learn about the ins and outs of drones, learn about shark identification and more importantly help keep beach goers safe - this may be for you. You do not need to be a Bronze holder or an active beach patroller. This style of patrolling is suited for all ages and abilities from 16 years of age and older. If you’re interested check out the information below.

10.01.2022 Our response lasted 5 days, 10hours or longer. Our crews performed amazingly with great professionalism and adaptability. We have learnt a lot from our emergency service partners. I’m sure they’ve learnt a lot from us. Congratulations to all that came and assisted on a job well done. On behalf of our communities - thank you.

10.01.2022 Lower North Coast SLS wishes Judy a fabulous retirement with Phil the best of times are to come. Judy’s work as a lifesaver at club level, trainer , assessor and facilitator has been appreciated by us all. Her Branch leadership and professional life with SLSNSW has seen her support us through many changes and always she remembered she is ours As current Branch DoE she has supported me above and beyond ;for this I thank her immensely. Enjoy your well earned time.

10.01.2022 From the ocean and harbour to rivers and lakes, police will be out in force over the summer period and we'll be reminding boat users about the importance of wea...ring lifejackets, having correct safety equipment and not speeding. If you are a skipper, remember you are responsible for the safety of everyone on your boat. If you are a passenger, wear a life jacket; it will save your life.

10.01.2022 Some isolation learning games for the kids. Stay safe everyone. Please remember club is closed to all members at this time, UNLESS patrolling.

10.01.2022 This morning saw the remaining 3 clubs successfully complete the lifesaving gear inspection process for the 2020/21 season. All 6 clubs that make up our branch are commended for their amazing management of all lifesaving equipment, ensuring that all gear is WHS and SOP compliant. Bring on 2020/21 season which starts in roughly 6 weeks time.

09.01.2022 On Saturday October 3rd RWC Operator Jerrad was conducting high visibility patrols around the Pacific Palms beaches by means of a rescue water craft (jetski). Roughly at 1030am he noticed a group of swimmers at south Blueys beach. Upon arrival to the group he noticed that the 11 individuals where all stuck in a rip. Jerrad knew this was a mass rescue situation. Without wasting any time he swung into action rescuing all patients and returning them to shore. After safely retur...ning all 11 patients to the beach and evaluating them he realised none needed any first aid treatment. This is an example of what can happen whilst swimming at unpatrolled locations especially if you don’t have the knowledge of identifying rips. I’m extremely proud of every patrolling member in our branch. From dealing with fires last season, to the influx of visitors that normally would reflect Christmas New Year numbers, our patrollers on the beach, jetskis and duty officers - are all doing an amazing job said Nathan de Rooy (Branch Director of Lifesaving). Please ensure - you swim at patrolled locations - you swim between the red and yellow flags - if you get stuck in a rip, relax, float and wave for assistance. - if you see someone in trouble, dial triple 000 Checkout https://beachsafe.org.au today find out more information about the beach you are planning on going to visit. 09.01.2022 Thousands of volunteer surf lifesavers across New South Wales will return to the beach today for the first patrol of the season. Police and Emergency Services M...inister David Elliott joined lifesavers at Queenscliff Surf Life Saving Club in Manly to raise the first iconic red and yellow flag of the patrol season, as well as highlight the new challenges brought about by the coronavirus pandemic. "It will be a different year. As the government and the tourism minister have said, we want you to holiday here this year. We expect local tourism, domestic tourism, particularly tourism in New South Wales, to actually see record numbers locally...and that's going to put a little bit more pressure on surf life saving clubs. Not only will they obviously need to rely on the fact that people obey the rules, but we've also got the challenges of COVID." - David Elliott - NSW Minister for Police and Emergency Services www.7NEWS.com.au #BeachSafety #7NEWS

09.01.2022 The latest results from the environmental sampling we have undertaken this week along with the NSW Environment Protection Authority (EPA) have shown that water... quality has continued to improve in flood-affected waterways across the region. As of Thursday afternoon, the following waterways have been deemed safe for recreational use: Forster Ocean Baths; Black Head Ocean Baths; Manning River, from Wingham to Manning Point and Harrington; Dawson River; Wallis Lake at Tiona Park, Paradise Marina, Little Street Baths and the Wallis Lake boat ramp; Wallamba River at Darawank; Smiths Lake at Sandbar, Frothy Coffee Boatshed and Tarbuck Bay; Myall River at Bulahdelah The following waterways have not been deemed safe for recreational use: Saltwater Lagoon and Black Head Lagoon. Beaches across the region also remain open but please use your judgement and steer clear of areas where the water looks particularly dirty. As always, swim between the flags at patrolled beaches, follow the advice of lifesavers and keep out of the water if a ‘No swimming’ sign is up.

07.01.2022 Around 330pm this afternoon SLS was activated to repond to reports of a possible downed aircraft off Forster. LNC Duty Officers along with inflatable rescue boats from Forster and Cape Hawke surf clubs responded. After a 1.5hr extensive search alongside Marine Rescue Forster, nothing was sighted. All assets returned safely to base, standing down due to the day light quickly disappearing. We are aware that Westpac 4 has been tasked to search the area. SLS is awaiting confirm...ation from MAC regarding whether our assets stand down tomorrow or continue a search. It is a timely reminder that no matter the weather, no matter the day, no matter the craft you are operating (aircraft, boats, etc) it is important to always notify people of your departure and arrival times. Whether that notification is to air traffic control, marine rescue or loved ones - it can save your life.

06.01.2022 If last weekend was any guide, we're headed for a warm and busy summer. These are the days when people flock to our beaches. Oftentimes, conditions can be unple...asant and even hazardous with dumping waves, strong rips and even flotillas of bluebottles doing their worst. Then there are the restrictions that come with COVID. If the crowds get too big, beaches will be closed to further arrivals. Now, Surf Life Saving Australia has developed an App through which you can search any beach in Australia before you leave home. There you'll find current information on conditions, patrol services, hazards, weather, swell and tides. The site's updated regularly and also includes advice on when beaches are full. A further 2,108 people were tested for COVID-19 in the 24 hours to 8pm Monday 6 April 2020. Sadly, NSW Health confirms the death of 3 people from COVID-19, bringing the state’s total deaths of confirmed COVID-19 cases to 21. A 90 year-old male with confirmed COVID-19 died in Liverpool Hospital; he was a resident of Opal Care Bankstown, the second death in a resident from the facility. A 90 year-old male with confirmed COVID-19 died at Baptist Care (Dorothy Henderson Lodge) in Macquarie Park. He is the sixth death in a resident from the facility. An 87 year-old woman, confirmed COVID-19, passed away at Sutherland Hospital. She was a passenger on the Ruby Princess. NSW Health extends our condolences to the families of those who have died. In line with national COVID-19 control guidelines, NSW Health has increased testing in areas which may be at elevated risk of community transmission. We are encouraging people in these areas who have symptoms including fever and/or flu-like symptoms such as cough, sore throat or shortness of breath to be tested. The new areas are: Waverley, Woollahra, Dee Why, Manly, Ryde, Macquarie Park, Broken Hill, Lake Macquarie, Manning, Nowra and south Nowra, Byron and Port Macquarie. By finding cases early and identifying appropriate isolation and quarantining of close contacts, we can help prevent onward transmission in the community. These recommendations are also being shared with NSW GPs and other clinicians to help implement this increased testing in the targeted areas. The full list of COVID-19 clinics is available online at COVID-19 clinics. NSW Health is alerting passengers who were close contacts on flights to monitor for symptoms, and contact their GP, but call ahead first, or call healthdirect on 1800 022 222, or visit a NSW Health COVID-19/Flu assessment clinic should they become unwell. #Coronavirus #7NEWS

03.01.2022 At approximately 11:10am the State Operations Centre (SOC) received notification from NSW POLICE of a capsized vessel off Sand Bar Beach south of Forster. With immediate response, Lower North Coast Duty Officer 14 was briefed and the following assets were tasked to attend: Pacific Palms IRB Lower North Coast Ski 3 LNC Duty Officer 11 and 18.... Upon arrival to Sand Bar, the 3 POI’s were observed walking back from the rocks and along the beach with no injuries to awaiting SLS Duty Officers and NSW Police. Other assets involved in this incident were Westpac Rescue from Newcastle and Port Stephans Water Police, who were on their way back south after patrolling Wallis Lake over the weekend. As this incident ended and assets were being conveyed back to Pacific Palms slsc, LNC14 was tasked to a member of the public in distress at Tuncurry Rock pool due to the strong outgoing tide. Upon arrival no persons were located. These incidents just highlight the importance of inter agency cooperation and the need for the public to know their limitations. Remember, if you get into trouble, other put their lives at risk to save yours. - Always seek advice from Lifesavers/Lifeguards. - attend patrolled locations - log on/off with your local Marine Rescue NSW unit - advise others of where you are going and how long for. 01.01.2022 UPDATE: We will be placing bulk bins at a number of our major beaches from tomorrow to support the work our volunteers are doing in helping to clean up the beac...hes. We would remind everyone doing this to take care as there are a range of items washing up, including sharps and chemicals etc. Bulk bins will be placed at Crowdy Head, Black Head, Old Bar, Forster Main, South One Mile and South Boomerang beaches. If there is no bulk bin at your local beach, we would ask that items be piled up in an accessible point and we will collect them from there. Over the coming weeks we will be assessing and prioritising our beach clean-up. While it's great to see the sun shining, we're urging the community and visitors to the area to refrain from swimming at the beach and in our waterways. The floods have washed debris, chemicals and sewage into our rivers, lakes, creeks and onto our beaches and for health and safety reasons these areas should be avoided. Unfortunately, with all the flood debris that has washed up on our beaches we are already experiencing 4WD users creating tracks in the dunes. Please ensure you are only driving between the inter tidal zone and if this isn't possible, then staying off the beach is the safest option. If you are going to drive on the beach, please assess the conditions and drive accordingly.
