23.01.2022 We are very excited to announce that our amazing cookbook ‘From the heart’ is almost ready to go on sale! A 276 page, full colour, A5 bound book, filled with over 100 of our favourite recipes, photos and children’s art work, it is sure to become a treasured keepsake for all who purchase it. Cooking together and sharing food is an indisputable way of sharing love, supporting each other and creating treasured memories with loved ones through out our lives. After the trauma a...nd devastation of the Cudlee Creek bushfires, and then the loss of everything we knew as normality when COVID hit, we knew our fundraising this year needed to look very different to our regular ‘Sparkling under the stars’ event. We wanted to encourage a strong sense of community working together, and also allow businesses to support us if they could, but also be extremely respectful to the circumstances they had found themselves in. We wanted our families to feel connected, included, loved and supported through what ever we chose - the concept of a cookbook fit the brief perfectly. From humble initial ideas, and with amazing contributions from almost all of our families and staff, the resulting publication has exceeded expectations! 2020 has been a particularly challenging year for our whole community, and we wish to sincerely thank the local businesses that have been able to provide sponsorship of our 2020 Kindy cookbook despite this. Klose's Supermarkets & Cellarbrations , Hughes GE Construction Co, Thomas Foods International , Eko built constructions & Gap Joinery Pty Ltd have been supporters of our major fundraising in past years , and their ongoing and generous support in 2020 is very much appreciated. This amazing publication has also been backed by Adelaide Hills Bulk Springwater, Complete Concrete Co., Dancify, Hills Hot Water www. hillshotwater.com & Spinney landscape architecture. To each and every one of you, and to the hard working team that put the book together, we acknowledge and thank you for your contributions, we couldn’t have done it without you. To our extended kindy community, please, ‘support those who support us’ Ordering details will be released later this week on our social media platforms - stay tuned!

15.01.2022 Being inspired by nature is something we just love at kindy and being outside on a beautiful day is a perfect place learn from our natural environment. So this week we took advantage of the warm days and took inspiration from a few of our kindy flowers to produce these masterpieces. What wonderfully talented artists we have at Lobethal Kindy. They took time to notice the colours and shapes of our flowers and painted their own interpretations. We can’t wait to explore the autumn in the coming weeks. #lobethalkindy

12.01.2022 Embedding our family's and our indigenous culture authentically throughout our program is very important to us at Lobethal Kindergarten. This week we were very excited to receive an Aboriginal flag from our lovely friend Rebekha Sharkie. Along with our acknowledgement of country, which was developed by our staff and children several years ago after a visit to Leigh Creek Kindergarten, it will help us empower our children with a genuine sense of togetherness and understandi...ng. It is a tangible link to discussions about the importance of the relationships to land and country that have been an integral part of peoples existence throughout history. The arrival of our new flag has already inspired our children to begin recreating their own artistic interpretation of the flag, and will continue to support our program and our children’s sense of belonging to their own places and spaces. A huge thank you to Rebekha and her team for their ongoing support of our kindy. #lobethalkindy #redblackandyellow #respect @Rebekha Sharkie MP

10.01.2022 Lobethal Community Kindergarten Pyjama drive 2021 - supporting Backpacks 4 SA Kids INC. It was only 14 months ago that our local community was struggling through the first weeks after the devastating Cudlee Creek bushfires. Our community showed strength, compassion and resilience as they banded together to begin to meet the immediate needs of all those affected. It was also at this time that Backpacks 4 SA kids, stepped in and offered around 500 backpacks filled with statione...ry, pyjamas, and other essential items such as lunch boxes and drink bottles to distribute to all of our children from the local communities who were affected - this encompassed anyone who lived or worked in our local community. We were proud to help co-ordinate the distribution of the backpacks, and saw first hand the joy they bought to the faces of our children. Now we would like to take the opportunity to give back. Lobethal Kindy would like our extended community come together and help us support backpacks 4 SA kids by donating a brand new pair of children's pyjamas to help them with their very low stock levels. "Backpacks 4 SA Kids exists to provide resources that contribute to the care, safety and wellbeing of children and young people during periods of dislocation from home and routine care." These children often leave with nothing but the clothes they are wearing, and receiving a backpack full of new items, including pyjamas are the only treasured possessions they have. Pyjamas for children of all sizes are required. We will have drop off points located just inside the main front gate of the kindergarten ( 1 Reserve Ave, Lobethal ) and our friends at Lobethal Fodder Store will also have a collection point in store. We will be accepting donations from Tuesday 27th April - Friday 7th May 2021 (week 1 & 2 of Term 2). We look forward to being able to feel the love and community spirit of our entire extended Kindy community as we all get behind this wonderful project. #lobethalkindyPJdrive2021 #backpacks4sakids #lobethalfodderstore See more

06.01.2022 Our children love experimenting with the Numicon pieces. We counted the holes in each piece up to ten, talked about the shapes and the colour. We also discovered that two of the light green ‘4’ pieces make the same as the dark green ‘8’ piece. After our conversations the children put together a range of Numicon pieces and then had a go at counting them! We love how children explored them in a variety of ways which ranged from joining them on the floor, holding them up to get a different view to placing them on their fingers. It was really great to see our children so engaged and excited about exploring and building their number sense. #earlynumeracy #lobethalkindy #youngmathamaticians #numicon
