25.01.2022 Thanks can’t express our gratitude to Team Rubicon for selflessly coming to our community and contributing so much to the physical and emotional recovery of those impacted by the fires.

21.01.2022 On this day in 1941, the Australian 6th Division began its attack on Tobruk, Libya, which was strongly fortified but only held by 25,000 Italian troops. The att...ack on Tobruk was part of Operation Compass, which had also included the capture of Bardia two weeks earlier. Having suffered massive losses in the early stages of Operation Compass, the Italian 10th Army only had one of its original nine divisions available for the defence of Tobruk, the 61st Infantry Division Sirte, which was a completely inadequate force with which to defend the 54 km long perimeter of the port town. Cut off from other Italian forces to the west by the British 7th Armoured Division, the 16th Brigade assaulted the south-eastern defences, followed by the 17th and 19th Brigades. The Italians suffered 18 officers and 750 soldiers killed, 30 officers and 2,250 men wounded and more than 20,000 men taken as prisoners of war. The Commonwealth forces captured 208 guns and 87 tanks, for the loss of 400 casualties, 355 of whom were Australian. Lest we forget. 21.01.2022 This year, Lobethal RSL will be conducting a dawn service which will be live streamed via this Facebook Page. Service will commence at 6.30am on 25 April 2020. We will conduct the service with 3 members of our Sub Branch and encourage our local community to participate from their front gardens, end of their driveways or wherever they feel comfortable within the constraints we are currently living with. The idea of broadcasting the service through the Main Street PA System ...speakers (normally used for the Christmas Pageant) is being worked on and we would appreciate people’s thoughts... We are lucky to have a bugler who will no doubt be heard throughout The Valley! We are looking for a piper as well if anyone has contacts! More details to follow soon as we are working out the details. Please share widely.

21.01.2022 Looking forward to seeing a Team Rubicon capability stand up in SA in the future! Thank you for your commitment, discipline and compassion - it will never be forgotten.

18.01.2022 Honoured to represent RSL SA today at the Birdwood War Memorial centenary event. Congratulations to the Birdwood High School and community for hosting this memorable and solemn event connecting the students of the school with their past!

18.01.2022 Lobethal Dawn Service 2020

18.01.2022 ANZAC Day 2020 - Lobethal RSL. Concept for this year - rather than a cancellation! Here is an idea to put meaning and commemoration into a form of Dawn Service activity this year while not gathering people together. If the virus conditions persist to 25 April, then I propose that we as a town gather at the Lobethal Cemetery pre dawn to sit with the grave of one of our veterans as the sun comes up. We could still have a bugler and a piper and have candles lighting up the cem...etery. Lobethal RSL would provide an order of service so that small groups could do their own thing at each grave side. What would be nice is a team to go and identify each veteran grave in the cemetery and mark them some how. Edit with a fresh idea - we could somehow link the service to the virtual war memorial that has been created and then folk can look up the information on the grave they are visiting. Could be a really moving way to still do something without congregating! I will have to do a lot of confirmations to make sure this will be okay and to organise it - so nothing confirmed as yet. Tell us what you think! Adam Weinert.

17.01.2022 Just a reminder that there will be no monthly meeting this evening. We will aim to hold on in June. Stay tuned!

13.01.2022 Lobethal RSL will be holding a Remembrance Day Service at the Lobethal Cenotaph (in front of the Uniting Church on Main St) on 11 Nov 2020. Service will commence at 10.45am. At this stage, we are also looking to live stream the commemoration so we can widen access to our event. Event to be promulgated shortly with further detail.

13.01.2022 How we look back on an event like the 2019 bushfires is also a window to our future... Come and celebrate all that is good about our community one year on from the bushfires as Lobethal reclaims 20 December.

13.01.2022 Update for the Dawn Service at Lobethal tomorrow. We have published an order of service on our website at rsllobethal.org.au You can download it or print it to follow the service that we will be live streaming. We held a very nervous sound check this evening of both the live stream and the Main Street PA system. Both worked better than expected so we are excited that the service will come to you in a clear and crisp format! ... Let’s light up Dawn!

12.01.2022 Looking forward to sharing a very different ANZAC Day Dawn Service with the community. Tomorrow morning, 6.30 am, live on Facebook to your front yard or driveway. Let’s light up the dawn.
