24.01.2022 Mask requirements across Queensland are coming into effect from 5pm today (Monday 29 March). You must carry a face mask with you at all times when you leave h...ome, unless you have a lawful reason not to. You must wear a mask in indoor spaces, such as: shopping centres, supermarkets, retail outlets and indoor markets hospitals and aged care facilities hospitality venues such as restaurants and cafés (not required for patrons while seated; customer facing staff only) churches and places of worship libraries indoor recreational facilities and gyms (except if doing strenuous exercise) indoor workplaces (where safe to wear a mask and you can’t physically distance) public transport, taxis and rideshare, including waiting areas and queues for this transport airports and travelling on planes. It is strongly recommended you wear a mask outdoors if you are unable to stay more than 1.5m distance from other people, such as busy walkways and thoroughfares. Masks do not need to be worn in some circumstances, including children under 12 years, where people have certain medical conditions, and in workplaces where it is not safe to do so. 19.01.2022 A new COVID-19 testing site is opening at 9am at the Highfields Sport and Recreation Park Motorists will access the Highfields Sport and Recreation Park fro...m Kuhls Road and into Cabarlah Park Road before proceeding one-way through the main park road to the three, drive-through, undercover testing sites at the car park closest to the Cronin road exit. Follow the signs. Please be patient with our staff, we're working to keep our communities safe. Please be prepared to wait and bring your Medicare card and other items you may need (your mobile phone, phone charger, medications you may need to take while waiting, food and water). As always if you need emergency help please present to our emergency departments or call 000. 14.01.2022 Greater Brisbane is entering a three-day lockdown. This is to stop the spread of COVID-19 after 7 locally acquired cases identified in the community. From 5pm t...onight until 5pm Thursday 1 April, anyone who has been in the local government areas of Brisbane, Ipswich, Moreton Bay, Logan and Redlands on or since 20 March can only leave home for one of these four reasons: obtain essential goods or services, including health care exercise attend essential work or childcare assist vulnerable persons. 10.01.2022 Crows Nest Citizen of the Year Narelle Gluer Gentle, kind-hearted and hard-working, Narelle is a respected and valued member of the Crows Nest community, who approaches every conversation with a genuine interest and an empathetic heart. A mother of two beautiful young women, Samantha and Elouise, Narelle donates her time generously to various community organisations, including the Show Society, where she guides Showgirl entrants on wardrobe suggestions, decorum, fundraising..., dancing lessons, sponsorship and support. Further to her involvement in the local show, Narelle helped co-coordinate the Darling Downs Showgirl Competition at the Toowoomba Royal Show. With organising being Narelle’s forte, she has co-organised a number of ‘G’day USA’ group student excursions and has volunteered at the Toowoomba youth ballet company. Narelle became a member of Lions five years ago and works tirelessly for this organisation via fundraising and organising Lions Youth of the Year events, Lions Conventions, and leadership projects. She also helps with the breakfast club at Crows Nest State School and has been involved with the Crows Nest Girls’ Brigade for 15 years, helping and guiding the future young women of Crows Nest. Her quiet determination, generous heart and empathetic ‘you’ve got this’ nature is what makes Narelle Gluer a role model for many.
