19.01.2022 We love seeing our members work towards their Coastal Hazard Adaption Strategy (CHAS). Our Project Managers for QCoast2100, Emma Schofield and Mat Cork travelled to Sunshine Coast Council and Moreton Bay Regional Council to attend their community engagement activities. Many coastal communities face coastal erosion and inundation risks. The QCoast2100 Program is a $13.234M Queensland State Government commitment on behalf of coastal local governments. Congratulations to these councils on working towards helping their communities. We love seeing this!

17.01.2022 Today marks International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women and the beginning of the 16 Days of Activism to raise awareness of gender-based violence. To recognise this we held the inaugural Red Bench Relay in Newstead, Brisbane. Violence against women is not ok and as the peak body for Local Government we understand how serious this issue is for communities. A number of councils around the state will also be holding similar events to recognise the day. Toget...her we can change the ending. Red Rose Foundation Australia Kay McGrath

15.01.2022 Local communities want access to ‘real’ news reporting. That’s the word from LGAQ President Mayor Mark Jamieson profiling a recent Queensland local government resolution calling for the significant impact the decline in regional media is having on our communities to be addressed. 13.01.2022 It’s important members of a community understand the signs of abuse and can be equipped to respond appropriately. That’s why Redland City Council teamed up with us to raise awareness about domestic and family violence. Last week our Domestic and Family Abuse Project Officer, Jim Boden delivered a session to Community Champions to enable them with the right tools to respond correctly. Community Champions are a key community resource on the Bay Island in Queensland and exist to help support people during and after disasters. It’s important we work together as a community and help each other put an end to domestic and family violence. Karen Williams

06.01.2022 Napranum Aboriginal Shire Council called us back in August to express their concerns about the community experiencing greater than usual venomous snake activity.
