25.01.2022 Here's Marcus McAdam giving a brief session on how to get the light right in landscape photography. Clear, concise and with good examples. https://www.youtube.com/watch

25.01.2022 Got a bit of time for reading? Here's a site that looks like it could answer many questions: https://photographylife.com/learn-photography

25.01.2022 A couple of things... Here's a shot of some romantic graffiti on a wall in a back street of a Croatian town. ALSO... I'm looking at running a free photo session in a couple of weeks. I'm looking for suggestions of things you'd like to learn. Otherwise, it will be a Beginner session looking at the LANGUAGE of photography (aperture, speed, depth of field, focal length etc.) and experimenting with our cameras (BYO). Look out for the event posting soon. :-)

23.01.2022 Relaxed evening walk by the Moonah trees at Spring Creek yesterday and back by the Juc beach. What a nice place we have here :-)

23.01.2022 Just finished the 'Art of the Minds' online art exhibition video. Acquired quite a range of skills over the last several weeks :-) Anyone need video editing work done?https://www.youtube.com/watch

22.01.2022 Gotta love Aireys Inlet. Walked Painkalac Creek today. Short and sweet. Plenty of 'roos. Planning a trip to Painkalac Reservoir soon.

21.01.2022 Memories of travel. Maybe again one day... More here: http://www.localphotoguide.com.au/Gallery/

21.01.2022 Dogography starter: This is Myla. A sensitive girl with a curious nature.

19.01.2022 FREE OFFER FOR YOU! Here's an offer that's essentially a "win-win". Send me one (1) of your best digital images - one that you are happy with - and I'll "post-process" it free. Post-processing involves putting it through my software workflow and editing it to "improve" it. Hopefully you will like the end result. If you don't like it, delete it and no-one's worse off. This a win-win because you see alternatives to your photo and I get to practice with my software skills. You can send by Private Message on Faceybook or to [email protected]. Let me know your email address and check it from time to time so my return image doesn't go to your spam inbox. Depending on how many I get, I may be able to do the job on the same day or it may take a week. No promises :-) READY-STEADY-GO.

18.01.2022 Lovely Red Rocks beach on a high-seas day last week.

18.01.2022 Love the chill, winter days in Torquay. Gulls were missing the chips thrown by visitors. The creek's up because the mouth is blocked. Stay safe... We'll be social distancing at the next free session at Point Danger this Saturday morning (max 10 people permitted).

15.01.2022 Planning to run some dogography sessions at Cosy Corner when the weather starts to improve (and the days are longer). Let me know if you or a friend want some nice shots of your best friend/s. There will eventually be a cost attached to this i.e. not free :-( but in the meantime, I need to acquire experience. More shots here: http://www.localphotoguide.com.au/Gallery/?page_id=243

14.01.2022 Rutherglen holiday. See the latest album for a lot more pictures. This is the 'Big Wine Bottle'. Your comments, likes and shares are welcome :-)

13.01.2022 On Day #1 of reduced coronavirus restrictions, I hoofed it out to Cosy Corner for a peek to see how many other people were out and about (many more) - but also keeping a reasonable social distance. The low-tide rock platform was inviting but uninspiring but I experimented with different views. Here's a 3-minute article I wrote about seeing differently. http://localphotoguide.com.au/LPG/?page_id=4389

11.01.2022 Missed you at the Composition Session at Point Danger this morning. Many people around, high tide and slanting sun. Nice. Look out for future sessions and click 'Going' to guarantee a place.

10.01.2022 Just released. This such a good show. All free and for nothing. And they go back monthly to December last year! Better than Netflix. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Haik1ZGZSmc

09.01.2022 The grand game of chess. Melbourne museum.

09.01.2022 Back from a lovely three-day sojourn in Rutherglen. Starting the tourism-led recovery by tripping around the wineries on pushbikes, eating out, shopping locally and telling people about it. Visited the 'Big Wine Bottle' (a converted water tower), the Carlyle cemetery, Pfeiffers, Valhalla, All Saints, the rail trail, walked the banks of the mighty Murray and explored Corowa and Wahgunyah. See Album for more pics.

09.01.2022 Lovely sunrise at Rocky Point this morning. Interested to know if you like the style of these images. I’ve made the colours a little richer. Is this cheating?

07.01.2022 What a lovely afternoon at Southside today - a very photogenic spot. Please share and like. There was a small landslip from the cliffs onto the beach. Much of the cliff face is mudrock in purple and orange mud and rocks but there's also hard sandstone with quartz crystals in it and a sandstone outcrop with honeycomb erosion. Any geologists out there? By the way - don't forget the next Localphotoguide session on 27 June: photographic stability equipment.

05.01.2022 Lovely hour or more shooting at Red Rocks yesterday. Thankful that we can still get out and about for exercise. Did some of the mountain bike trails near Hurst road too (lost a bike tail-light with all the banging over roots and rocks :-( ) Walked the soft beach to Addis, granny gear up the hill to the Ocean road and home. Tell me which one/s you like most.

04.01.2022 Beautiful morning for a coastal session. Sun, low tide and good company. And here's Glen Barton, local surfer, landscape photographer and musician holding examples of the equipment we looked at. Tripods, bean bags, selfie-sticks, Gorillapods, Minis, monopods and more. Glen also has great a new book of Scotland photos (limited edition) for sale. See some shots from it on the front page of his site here: https://www.deloceanophoto.com/ Next free session is 'Composition' on 4 July (weather permitting). Get along!

02.01.2022 Don't forget the next FREE photo session at Point Danger. Happening at 10am this Saturday - lots of information and practice with camera stability to avoid blurry shots and get long exposures. Rug up for a chilly start! See you there.

01.01.2022 Enjoying the lovely weather and high tides at Bells Beach recently. Discovering a new view on the surf with a long lens (with a little colourific licence). Such much detail in those crashing inshore waves... Surfers luvvin' it! Oh. And don't forget the upcoming free LocalPhotoGuide Event at Point Danger at the end of June - about Tripods!
