21.01.2022 Loch CFA Fire and Rescue were again responded to an MVA on the South Gippsland Hwy. today. Fortunately there was not a need for our Rescue. However our members were on scene for a number of hours assisting with traffic management and fuel leaks.

19.01.2022 Loch CFA rescue crews attended this accident this morning and were on scene for some hours performing the extrication of the patient. Please avoid the area as it can take some time for police to clear the area once investigations have been completed.

18.01.2022 Thanks to Leongatha SES and SAN Remo SES for doing the hard work tonight. Who do we call for storm damage. These guys. ... Pleasure to assist you by doing some of the smaller jobs. See more

17.01.2022 Ever wondered where we get most of our gear? Our SLC, another unsung part of CFA.

17.01.2022 Loch CFA were one of the very early users of CRS in Australia. We find it indispensable when dealing with the wide range of motor vehicles on the roads these days. Having used it for over five years many of our members are trained in its use. ... Just one of the many tools at our disposal to assist the public in their time of need.

17.01.2022 We are almost there. Like all CFA brigades and much of society. We have been doing our part to aid in the control of COVID19. We suspended our weekly trainings and our meetings. Whilst we have been enjoying the break, of course we still have been responding to calls from both our Loch and Nyora station. ... Looking forward it’s now time to start gearing up again for a degree or normality. Of course this leads us to our ongoing number one challenge. RECRUITING NEW MEMBERS WE NEED MEMBERS THAT LIVE IN AND AROUND LOCH AND NYORA. we can’t guarantee when we will be back at the station on a regular basis but we really would like to start your member application now. INTERESTED??? Call is now on 56594477or better still chat to us on here.

17.01.2022 Looking for a sustainably sourced real Xmas tree. Help our friends at Ruby out by purchasing one from them for their annual fundraiser.

17.01.2022 Photo time today.

16.01.2022 Don’t like this post. Well what we mean is, after you read it don’t just click like. Message us and talk to us about joining. We absolutely, positively need members. ... If you live in the Loch, Nyora or surrounding areas and have even considered just once that you might join your local CFA. Let’s just do it. 16.01.2022 12:30am Saturday morning Poowong Cfa (6 members) attended a house fire in Poowong, where it was fully engulfed in flames. We had Loch and Korumburra brigades a...ttend. We were there till 3:30am and then came back later that morning to help assist with the fire investigation. The house was vacant for the last few weeks. Take care everyone and stay safe See more

14.01.2022 Loch CFA would like to welcome Fire Rescue Victoria and look forward to the continued relationship that we already enjoy on the occasions we meet. Particularly the crews out of Pakenham that work with us occasionally on the odd rescue event. As a brigade. Loch will be functioning practically exactly the same as we always have. Providing a volunteer fire and rescue service to our area as well as those neighbouring us.

12.01.2022 After consultation with the Victorian health officials, CFA are permitted to undertake training again ahead of the fire danger period. Strict number caps, covid safe plans, the usual masking and gloves etc and limiting training to a timeframe and working within curfew restrictions will be the norm for a while. So if you see us out and about a bit more than over the past year, this is why.

12.01.2022 Tonight we had a special visitor to our station for his birthday. Logan wants to be a firefighter when he grows up and mum asked us if we could spend some time with him. Of course social distancing applied but our members gave Logan a fun time and we hope he remembers us when he is old enough to join.

12.01.2022 WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME WE ASKED OUR COMMUNITY FOR MONEY? LOCH CFA has a yard for road rescue training on Loch Wonthaggi Rd. Once we finish training on the cars they are collected and sold for their scrap value. Recent times has seen many people drop of scrap steel. Which of course adds to our collect of scrap and we are so great full. ... THE SALE OF THIS SCRAP METAL IS WHY WE DONT SELL RAFFLE TICKETS OR WORK THE COMMUNITY FOR DONATIONS OF CASH HOWEVER. MORE RECENTLY PEOPLE HAVE BEEN DUMPING RUBBISH. SUCH AS COUCHES AND NON METALS. WE HAve to pay to dispose of this. WE ARE NOT THE LOCAL RUBBISH TIP This yard has funded the implementation and ongoing running of one of the busiest country based road crash rescue units in Victoria.

11.01.2022 In an emergency, can our brigades get to you? Some ideas to consider as you set about preparing your property for the Fire Danger Period

11.01.2022 IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING THE INTRODUCTION OF THE FIRE DANGER PERIOD Fire Danger Period to start on Monday, December 14 Yesterday Assistant Chief Fire Officer Trevor Roberts submitted a request to commence the Fire Danger Period for South Gippsland and Baw Baw Shire Councils on Monday, December 14.... The request was approved today. The commencement of the Fire Danger Period will be gazetted and come in to effect at 1am on Monday, December 14. It expires on May 1 at 1am. "We are under the influence of the La Nina and abundance of grass growth is prevalent right across District 09," ACFO Roberts said. "We are not seeing a steady amount of rain but rather concentrated heavier falls over shorter periods, this in conjunction with lower Root Zone Soil Moisture will result in rapid curing particularly in the north of the District. "The BoM is still predicting rainfall into summer season but these fine fuels will dry very quickly with some warmer weather and wind in no time." The commencement of the Fire Danger Period means people wishing to use fire must apply and attain a permit. See https://firepermits.vic.gov.au/ South Gippsland Shire Council Baw Baw Shire Council

08.01.2022 Well done to our colleagues and mates at SES Leongatha Unit and all others involved in this rescue.

07.01.2022 Things are almost back to normal. With certain COVID conditions and guidelines our Chief Officer today announced a number of things that Brigades can return to doing. Most importantly this time of year is more numbers at the station and training. BUT the other big thing is that with conditions we can now say that we will be doing our annual Santa run. ... Whilst we won’t be able to offer Santa for dropping of presents as we have in previous years we have certainly emailed him and he confirmed he will be happy to travel around our community in one of our trucks and say hello to everyone (socially distanced of course) Standby for more information as our Santa team work out the logistics.

07.01.2022 That’s a wrap. Another 11 newly qualified fire fighters from various D9 brigades, completed their General Fire fighter assessments today at Loch. The members will be on the trucks over the next few weeks once the paper work has been entered. ... Well done to all

05.01.2022 Do you know of anyone that has made a significant donation to Loch CFA? A generous donation was made to Loch CFA within the past 12 months. An equally generous ...donation was also made by the same benefactor to the Nyora CFA. The problem is that Nyora Area is covered by Loch CFA. With a satellite station at Nyora. There is no Nyora CFA by name even though we have a strong presence in the area. The donations made through or on behalf of the Mitchell Family Trust to the CFA donations fund currently cannot be accessed by the brigade as the brigade has not received any correspondence from the Mitchell Family Trust to show there gracious intent. If you have any idea of whom we may make contact with can you please contact us through here or call 56594477 anytime for a confidential discussion.

04.01.2022 Firefighters seem to always get the accolades. But we believe that the work our colleagues in SES do is just as worthy. Who do we call when we need help in storms and weather events. ... SES of course. Well done to our local crews.

03.01.2022 As Victorians start to take advantage of warmer weather and eased restrictions, we must remember to stay vigilant. More than a quarter of bushfires are started ...by escaped private fires, such as burn-offs or campfires Always check restrictions before lighting any type of fire, ensure you have adequate water on hand and make sure your fire is extinguished properly. It’s your responsibility to plan and prepare for fire

01.01.2022 Welcome to our soon to be newest vehicle. Almost ready to go. Loch CFA were recently lucky enough to be able to upgrade our existing support vehicle by purchasing and rehoming this delicious Toyota Landcruiser from Beaconsfield CFA. Whilst our last vehicle served us well. This replacement suits our response and risk profile better. ... With far superior 4x4 capability, the ability to have a winch and also tow our trailer for collecting cars to train on. We are now better equipped into the future. The vehicle will be used for a rescue support, supporting our CFA issued rescue. Crew transport to calls and meetings. Response to anywhere the CFA need it such as thermal imaging crews, strike teams Well. Basically the list is endless.
