24.01.2022 Festival of Small Halls rolls into Loch on Wednesday, 25 March 2020 with critically-acclaimed Scottish ensemble The Paul McKenna Band and emerging Australian singer-songwriter Alana Wilkinson. When you enter the Loch Hall you’ll be forgiven for thinking you have stepped back in time to a bygone era where there’s original pressed tin panelling, and the acoustic sounds of yester year are still present. Set in the rolling hills of the farming community that is Loch Village, it... plays home to many cafes and boutique shops and is only approx 100km from Melbourne. Historically the Loch Hall, first known as the Mechanics Institute was first opened in 1891. In the early years it served many purposes. In the war it was home to the volunteer defence corp, and then in the 30’s a whole new purpose roller skating, and then regular pictures were shown and dances held. Again, during the next war many balls were held to raise funds for the war effort and had a routine for floor polishing by Wonderwax Floor Wax, only to be applied by hand. These days the hall services the community, hosting school events, markets, dances and private functions. There will be a BBQ before the show, tea, coffee and cakes at intermission. The bar will be run by a local brewery, and there will also be a raffle. Tickets available online below or locally at Loch Motors, Victoria Street, Loch https://festivalofsmallhalls.com/loch-2020/ Doors open at 6:30pm for a 7pm start

Zac is now off to the the state final at the MSAC in Melbourne for 50 metre freestyle and butterfly. 11.01.2022 Dear Parents, Guardians, Students and the wider community of Loch Primary School, My name is Liz Alderson and I have been appointed the Acting Principal for the 2020 school year at Loch Primary School. I am truly honoured and very excited to have the opportunity of leading this vibrant and beautiful rural school. I consider parents and community members to be pivotal partners in the education process. I’m very passionate about education and I hope to develop a collaborativ...e working relationship with all members of the school community to provide a rigorous, engaging, and high-quality education for the children at Loch Primary. I have been the Principal of Ripplebrook Primary for the past 4 years. Prior to that I taught at Cardinia Primary School for 16 years, the last 14 serving in leadership positions. I am passionate and dedicated to the small school rural ethos. It has been a continual challenge at Ripplebrook and Cardinia PS to maintain this due to the rapid growth the area has experienced during this time. Both schools have a high proportion of children with disabilities, especially Autism. I have taught a large number of these children and have had had amazing success with them socially, emotionally, and academically. I provide a learning environment to all students that stimulates and helps each child to realize their full potential. I strive to instil a love of learning and to make school an exciting and interesting learning place for all. I grew up on a dairy farm located between Pakenham and Koo Wee Rup and I attended both primary and secondary school in Pakenham. I currently live in Koo Wee Rup with my husband, Dean and two children, Mitchell (18) and Caitlin (15). I am involved in many community organisations in Koo Wee Rup, such as the swimming club, football club, netball club and the local CFA. I strongly value community and school partnerships and look forward to maintaining strong links with the community of Loch as acting Principal. Along with teachers and staff, I will work hard to continue the legacy of success established by Tracey King. Tracey’s passion, dedication and high expectations for all students has made Loch Primary School a fantastic and highly regarded educational setting. I would like to thank Tracey for her warm welcome, wealth of knowledge and support to make a smooth transition for myself as the new Acting Principal. On behalf of the school community I would like to wish Tracey the best in her venture and know she will be greatly missed at Loch by the students, staff, parents and wider school community. I look forward in continuing to meet with students, families and the wider community and getting to know you all over the coming weeks. My door is always open and I welcome your input. Please feel free to come and see me for a chat, call or email me to discuss any concerns, queries, suggestions, or ideas! Kind Regards, Liz Alderson Acting Principal

10.01.2022 Dear Parents, Students, and Staff, As many of you will now be aware, yesterday afternoon the Victorian Government, made a series of significant announcements about the introduction of new measures across metropolitan Melbourne and Mitchell Shire to reduce the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19). South Gippsland Shire is NOT one of those areas. LOCH PRIMARY SCHOOL will be returning to face to face teaching next week as planned and ALL year levels will start back on MONDAY 13th Ju...ly. It is clear however that we must remain vigilant. COVID-19 has shown us yet again that it is highly contagious. It is vital that we continue to be cautious stay home if you are unwell, and practice good hand hygiene and social distancing. If you show cold or flu like symptoms, you should get tested, and remain at home until you receive your results. As of today, South Gippsland remains clear of the virus and has not recorded any active cases for a couple of months. The only way we will keep it this way is if we all do the right thing and follow the restrictions that are in place. We should not drive into the affected areas and we should not be hugging or kissing our relatives. Unlike when the virus first entered Australia, we are now facing community transmission this means that we are spreading it amongst ourselves and it appears to be spreading fastest amongst family members. As always, Loch Primary is prepared for any eventuality, for now, families and students should continue to remain cautious but not anxious. Our cleaning arrangements will continue into Term 3, as will all our protocols from Term 2, parents are discouraged from attending the school, staggered afternoon pick up, students should sanitise their hands on entry and exit from the classroom etc. Further information will be sent through to me from the Education Department later this week and I will forward this through to you as soon as possible. Hope your holidays are going well. Kind Regards Liz Alderson Principal
