16.01.2022 GRANNY DUMP is an awful term, but for many of our elderly residents, this is exactly what happens at Christmas time. They are 'dumped' at hospitals and Aged Care facilities Australia wide so their carers can go away and have a good time over Christmas without the burden of their loved one. Please open your heart and take time to give a little something to the elderly this Christmas. We are collecting small gifts such as hand creams, after shave, books, chocolates, picture... frames, socks etc to assist the residents that have been 'dumped'. Last year, with the support of the community we raised just over 284 gifts and were able to distribute to 13 Aged Care facilities and both the Gold Coast University and Robina Hospitals and we would love to do this again. We have just over 100 gifts with just over a week to go. Please give us a call if you are able to donate a little something. You can drop the goods off at our office or we can arrange a collection point - whatever is easiest. See more

16.01.2022 WE NEED YOUR HELP! Sadly it's coming up to Christmas and whilst that might be a happy time for most of us, for some elderly residents it is a nightmare. They are dumped, forgotten and left behind by family or just plain lonely. Please help us to make their Christmas special by donating a small gift. 09.01.2022 When caring for someone with dementia you may have to deal with many different feelings, as the needs of the person with dementia changes over time. You may experience a range of very different and often extreme feelings. This is particularly difficult because as dementia gradually causes the person’s abilities and personality to change the nature of your relationship will also change. There is no simple way to deal with these feelings, but it may help to know that the complex and changeable emotions you feel are completely normal. Remember: you are not alone.

09.01.2022 This is such wonderful news for our Pensioners - Single Aged Pension will rise by $13.20 per fortnight to $907.60 per fortnight and the Couples Aged Pension will rise by $9.90 per fortnight each to $684.10 per fortnight each. This increase will become effective next Tuesday 20 March 2018

03.01.2022 It has been a very busy afternoon here in the LFA Office. We have wrapped and labelled close to 350 gifts in preparation for our Christmas deliveries next week. A HUGE thank you to everyone who has donated gifts. A special thanks to Donna Tolley from Attwood Marshall Lawyers, Tracy & Brett from Seniors Newspaper and of course the LFA team for getting in and lending a hand in getting all the gifts wrapped.

03.01.2022 Today we attended a Death Cafe at Hopewell Hospice. It sounds morbid doesn't it? However it was such a wonderful experience and provided an open forum for people who have loved ones who are Palliative and want to ask the difficult questions in a comfortable environment. Congratulations to Jennifer Ruby, the Home Instead Team and the amazing Hopewell Hospice for organising such a fabulous meeting. We were proud to be able to support you.
