So refreshing, It’s a turtle’ said Ava helping them build their hand eye coordination skills this then helps them become more confident with pouring their milk at snack time and scooping their lunches.
24.01.2022 Pre kindy have painted logs black to open up conversation around NAIDOC week. We talked about how the black on the flag represents the Aboriginal people. Lucas painted with his hands and then made hand prints on the paper, Jay painted a leaf black and placed on the log. Dominic and Grace worked as a team to cover a log in black paint. Using aboriginal perspective in using what the land gives, to use in our play.

22.01.2022 Preschool is having discussions about being hygiene ninjas, we are practicing our hand washing skills, sneezing and coughing in our elbows. The children had some comments after group time and suggested to make drawings with stop signs to not let the bugs in preschool. this bug has a wicked smile-Anika. This is a giant hand with many bugs. I have made these tiny dot bugs, we cannot see them. And this is a giant bug and I am not going to let it go in my stomach - Herbie said assertively. Freddy, Layla, Mihika , Nicolette and Harry made bugs and striking the bugs said you cannot come in preschool the children are singing Happy birthday twice while washing hands to make sure the bugs are gone!
21.01.2022 This week prekindy have been experimenting and enjoying a range of instruments such as drums and a piano! Dominic brought in a special ukulele from home and shared it with his peers. Here is peter sharing with us some tricks his grandpa taught him on his guitar... A great example of literacy and numeracy rich learning...

20.01.2022 Preschool had a discussion of what they would like to change in their room. Ideas were flashing as we brainstormed. Thomas had an idea, we need a new painting in the quite corner. To implement it, we got a canvas and our little artists straight away set to work. Our proud piece of art is now a part of our reading corner
19.01.2022 In Preschool we have decided to have a book of the week with a ‘story table’ dedicated to the telling of the book. This table shows a snapshot of the book and includes scenery and characters from the story. This week our book is ‘Wombat went a Walking’. We enjoy hearing the children’s different interpretations of their stories and look forward to many more.
18.01.2022 With the warmer weather this week the infant toddler room have been keeping busy with lots of water. We have been watering both our garden and the over 2’s garden. We have also trapped some sea creatures in ice ready to break them free. Finally we have gotten into the Christmas spirit early by preparing some wrapping paper ready to wrap the gifts for our families!
17.01.2022 Dear families, it is with great sadness that we have to cancel our Xmas Party for Thursday 3rd Dec. Due to the current COVID situation, there are limitations on the number of people that can be in a space. We will however still be having the party on the Thursday during the day, just with the children. The children decided a while ago that they wanted a 'Superhero Party' so we are still going to celebrate in a 'Superhero theme'. If your child already attends on Thursdays then please bring them dressed up in Superhero costumes on the 3rd Dec. Thank you, from the team at Lockleys.
14.01.2022 Preschool has celebrated NAIDOC week this week. We had group time discussions about the Indigenous Culture, we were amazed to research together and find out it is the oldest culture known to mankind. We have made our own story books and cards with the symbols. The children explained their stories. Most of them have water holes, meeting place, emu prints to explain their story. We made lemon myrtle damper for our snack this afternoon. The children were intrigued by the flavour... and smell of it. this is like mint- Levi. The theme for NAIDOC 2020 is Always Was, Always will be. To celebrate this we made painting with green- Representing the land, Black- representing the people, Blue- Represents the sea and white represents peace. We would like to thank Brooke from unders for bringing in beautiful Kangaroo Paw Plants for us. The preschool and prekindy dug the garden and helped plant the beautiful plants . Enjoy our different languages of appreciating the amazing vast Indigenous Culture. See more

12.01.2022 Dear families, just updating you all on the processes we have re-instated due to the current COVID outbreak. We would like you all to sanitize outside, before coming in. Children only to have their temperature taken on arrival, at this stage. The declaration of medication to reduce temperatures is still in place. We have placed markers on the floor in reception to ensure physical distancing is adhered to. We have also limited the number of adults in the reception area to ...3 at any one time. Please check first before entering to see if there is room for you to come in. We will not have any visitors come into the centre and we will not be going on any excursions out of the centre. If you have been in any of the locations listed on SA Health, please monitor your symptoms and act accordingly. Thank you for assisting us to keep our Lockleys community safe. See more
11.01.2022 Dear families, the press conference today has announced that lockdown will be finished tomorrow night at midnight. Great news. Please let us know if you will be returning to your bookings from Monday. Thank you.
11.01.2022 This morning we harvested some more veggies from our garden. Mila, Anika, Gigi, Mira and Ermina had an idea to set up a veggie shop. Their play evolved and the veggie shop became a role play of mums and dads and sisters. We had a serious situation there of one of the baby sister being unwell. Witness our serious situation
09.01.2022 Pre-kindy have been using chalk to draw on the concrete pavers. Balen pointed at a marking and said it’s a letter. William used drawings to make sense of his day, saying I’m drawing mum, I’m drawing dad, this is pink. Vivienne drew with pink and then wanted purple. William had the purple chalk, Vivienne asked William if she could swap chalks, William swapped the chalk with Vivienne. Drawing with chalk has given the children opportunities to explore early literacy, colours and to use their negotiation skills.
07.01.2022 This amazing platter is our morning tea. Thank you to the Arnold family, we will miss you greatly. Enjoy school James

03.01.2022 This week in the Infant & Toddler room we have begun the propagation process using the seeds for our butterfly garden. The children used a range of different technologies to scoop up soil, put the seeds in & then water them. The children are active participants in caring for our outdoor environment on a daily basis. Over the coming weeks we will have discussions with the children about what we can see happening with our seeds, as we care for them and help them to grow. We are very excited to see what happens next!!
01.01.2022 What does literacy and numeracy learning look like within the prekindy environment? We focus on embedding literacy and numeracy within play for children to actively experiment, explore and discuss concepts in fun and enjoyable learning experiences. The children are building strong foundations to support literacy and numeracy learning for their present and future.
01.01.2022 Prekindy have been working on a project to support the preschools bird garden project in our front garden. Prekindy have been painting logs for the front garden while learning about colours that represent symbolic thought from the aboriginal cultural perspective. The children are learning about the aboriginal flag and what each colour represents - the people, the sun and the earth. This learning is embedded with literacy, creativity, culture, and building a strong sense of community through prekindys collaboration with preschool on designing a shared garden
