25.01.2022 On Thursday we had the sticky sensory wall planned for the children to explore. Miss Tina put a piece of contact on the wall and stuck plastic eggs and balloons on it so the children could pull them off and on. The children moved straight over to the wall to pull the balloons and the eggs off the contact, using their hand eye-coordination as the babies moved their hand to grab the balloons and eggs . It was also a way to strengthen fine motor muscles as they grasped the items and explored their sense of touch. #QCCS

25.01.2022 Today in the playground we had lots of fun with water! We are so lucky at our Centre to have our own rainwater tank for watering our gardens and that is directly connected to our water play wonderland. The children had a blast pumping the water down the path as they followed their own ideas by splashing, adding toy animals to their water play and laying leaves on the path and watching them float down stream. #QCCS #childcare #earlylearning #waterplay #water #outdoorfun

25.01.2022 Today the children explored painting with different mediums of their choice. The children decided to paint using brushes and sponge brushes as they explored mark making on their paper. They followed their own ideas and interests as they mixed the colours. They also explored the paint with their fingers and even folded their paper to make beautiful butterflies.

24.01.2022 We began our morning inside in our art and craft area. We got busy with our play-dough and added our numeracy mats for an intentional teaching experience. We began by sitting at the table with a piece of playdough and a numeracy mat with a number from 10-20 on it. Then we quickly got into the experience as we identified the number on the mat. We used our fingers to break pieces of dough off and roll them into balls, placing a ball of dough on each dot on the mat. We kept going until we had placed a ball of dough on each spot and counted each one, making sure we had the same number of balls of play-dough on the mat as the number we identified. #numeracylearning #earlychildhood #brisbanechildcare #playdough #QCCS

24.01.2022 The children in the babies room could not wait to see what had happened to the seeds they had planted last week. It was a wonderful surprise to see that our sunflowers and silver beet had sprouted showing the tiny little plants beginning to grow. After giving each on another little spray of water on went the lid again and hopefully in a few more days our lettuce might just appear as well. #sowandgrow #QCCS #seedlings #childcare #gatton

22.01.2022 Today is Daffodil Day A day that aims to give hope to those affected by all cancers by donating to support a cancer free future. The daffodil is recognised internationally as the symbol of hope for all people affected by cancer. Cancer Council chose it as their emblem as the bright yellow colouring heralds the return of spring, representing new life and growth. Today the children participated in an activity where we used our yellow hand prints to create our own daffodils.

21.01.2022 We got creative in our art and craft areas as we worked to create some wonderful works of art using paint on trays and rollers. Great use of our creativity and imagination was evident during this time as we painted as we discovered each roller left a different pattern behind on the paper. During this time we were also challenged to use our oral language to describe to the Educator the pattern that each roller left behind. #QCCS #childcare #earlychildhoodeducation

21.01.2022 Spring is fast approaching and at the centre we are getting our gardens ready for some new additions and also spent time caring for our gardens. Today the children enjoyed helped weed, water the gardens and check the growth of our tomatoes and lettuce. Vegetables that ripen in a home grown garden have more nutrients than some store-bought vegetables that must be picked early. The children have learnt so many things from caring for our gardens about sustainability as well as making connections to a healthy lifestyle. #LoveLearning #QCCS

19.01.2022 Today during group time Miss Rachana sang us a special song called Ek biladi jadi. The song is an Indian nursery rhyme in the Gujarati language about a fat cat and a crocodile. Children being exposed to other languages boosts problem-solving skills, critical-thinking, and listening skills, in addition to improving memory, concentration. Children proficient in other languages also show signs of enhanced creativity and mental flexibility as well as an appreciation and respect for diversity. #QCCS #childcare #gatton
