24.01.2022 Good evening Friends Happy Monday Being a Wildlife Carer in the main, rescuing Sick and Injured Native Fauna, can be a most rewarding occupation, raising Infant Marsupials and our many Feathered Juvenile Friends to maturity, is a constant daily task and you never know what may be next when the phone rings . . . . ... However, this morning's early call, while I was feeding a few of the residents made me sit up and listen ! . . . . . . . . . . . . A Snake had entered a ' Rearing Avery ' housing many Budgerigars together with several Fledglings but unfortunately eight of the juveniles had been devoured. On arrival at the property and with cautious investigation, I discovered the offending culprit hiding in a Nesting Box. The Eight Foot ' Brown ' had obviously been enjoying himself as the Property Owner confirmed eight of his Wife's Fledglings had been taken. In conclusion, the intruder was captured and removed from the property and transported to Mountainous Bushland with a running creek, where he was released. Hopefully with the winter months approaching these situations will cease as our wriggling Friends go into Hibernation. Stay Safe. . . . . . . . . . . . Locky

16.01.2022 Good morning Friends Happy Friday After a few years of building various Wildlife recovery Box's and Cages using only the concrete sullage Tank as a work... bench, I thought it was about time to build myself a workshop that would make life a little easier Although far from completed, as additional extras such as shelving wall mounted container and storage box's, for various screws/nails nuts and bolts etc a TV Radio and small drink fridge, things are starting to come together slowly. . . . . In conclusion I should however like to mention a couple of Friends who kindly donated to ' Locky's Sanctuary ' the electrical equipment and timber that I have installed, namely Shane More and Adam Cullan, without there generosity I would not have achieved this far THANK YOU Hopefully I shall complete this project in the early New Year. Wishing ALL Friends a safe and enjoyable festive season with Family Loved Ones and Friends. . . .Locky

13.01.2022 Good morning Friends Happy Monday Hoping you all enjoy a safe and happy week with your family and friends. For me the weekend was busy with a couple of rescues one of which pictured, a juvenile ... ' Black Flying Fox ' that was a storm victim, but am happy to report is doing fine, eating and drinking well. The heat that we all experienced here in the Lockyer Valley in the high 30's brought many of my ' Rainbow's ' to the ' Verandah Rail ' for a shady rest and a much needed drink. Until next time take care and Stay Safe. . . . . . . . . . . Locky

12.01.2022 Hodder & Stoughton and James Bowen are saddened to announce the death of Bob the cat on 15 June at the age of at least 14 years. James, a recovering addict, f...irst met Bob in 2007 when he found him abandoned and injured. James took care of Bob who in turn gave him a reason to get up each morning. They quickly became inseparable, busking and selling The Big Issue on the streets of London. In 2012 Hodder & Stoughton published James’ first book, A Street Cat Named Bob, telling his and Bob’s extraordinary story. The book was a publishing sensation, selling - along with its sequels The World According to Bob, A Gift from Bob and The Little Book of Bob - more than eight million books in more than forty languages, and was made into the film in 2016 starring Luke Treadaway as James. Bob appeared in the film as himself and will appear in a sequel, A Gift from Bob, later this year. As James and Bob continued to find fans all over the world, Bob led an incredible life meeting well-wishers at book signings, travelling the world and coping with feline fame. He was an extraordinary cat who will be greatly missed. James Bowen says Bob saved my life. It’s as simple as that. He gave me so much more than companionship. With him at my side, I found a direction and purpose that I’d been missing. The success we achieved together through our books and films was miraculous. He’s met thousands of people, touched millions of lives. There’s never been a cat like him. And never will again. I feel like the light has gone out in my life. I will never forget him. https://www.thebookseller.com//james-bowen-says-goodbye-un .

12.01.2022 Good Morning Friends Happy Sunday Hoping you are all enjoying the weekend break especially if sharing it with Loved Ones Family and Friends. ... Thank you for the many messages enquiring how my latest project is faring ? Well I am pleased to confirm that yesterday saw the conclusion, adding finishing items, such as Ornaments storage containers and a couple of flowering ' Pot Plants ' hopefully making it esthetically pleasing. . . . . . The longest time was preparing the, Eighty plus recycled years Timber, that had been painted, as they did in those days, stripping off the many layers of Lead paint, Primer, Undercoat and Gloss that unfortunately covered the beautiful array of Grain that always adorns the splendor of ' Origan Pine ' . . . . . . . . . . Creating the finish that was necessary to do aged timber justice, therefore not showing any joins caused by screws and nails, Mortise and Tenon and Dove Tails had to be incorporated thus affecting the finish I desired, that is why the time was extended ( Thanks Grandad for your patience showing me the Art ) . . . . . . . . . . In conclusion, I think the finished Breakfast Bar Top Addition reveals Timber as it was ment to be shown. Wishing you all a Safe and Enjoyable week ahead. . . . . . . . . . . . . .Locky
