02.01.2022 Over the last few months, LPLN has been working with the Salisbury West Landcare group on securing funds to develop a network of soil moisture probes and weather monitoring stations. This month the final two probes were delivered through the support from the office of Anne Webster - Federal Member for Mallee as part of the Federal Government's Community Environment Program grants scheme. The units were provided by agronomist Leighton Wilksch through his business, Agbyte, and ...will provide crucial live and historic decision-making data for farmers in the area. It is the hope of LPLN that this network of stations can be extended across the Loddon Plains and provide greater benefits in working towards more efficient land management practices. 01.01.2022 Popped past Powlett Swamp for a look while out and about doing some monitoring. The swamp was part of a Salisbury West Landcare group project that provided fencing around the area to protect the site and create a haven for birds and other native fauna, with some brand-spankin' new signs just erected. It's in wonderful condition with ducks and other birds in abundance, including some Blue-billed ducks, Australian Shelducks and a big Wedgie overhead.
